VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 CV Joint Replacement Half Shaft Flange stuck PB Blaster okay

Im doing a CV boot replacement on my Right (Pass) Axle. However Im having trouble removing it. Ive removed all the inner triple square bolts but the flange seems to be stuck on. In all of the videos that Ive seen the inner flange just seems to fall right off. My guess is that it is seized. Is using PB blaster in that area okay Or will it seep into the transmission or destroy some gaskets Also will

Not that this helps you much now... but I was able to get both of my outer joints apart by screwing the bolt all the way in. It didnt actually take much effort once it bottomed out. Certainly less than the torque you have to use to tighten the bolt when the axle is back on the car. I put the axle up on some boards with the joints hanging off the ends and had a helper stand on the shaft. Then about

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Removing instrument cluster clear cover

Last weekend I bought a 2002 Passat Wagon GLX 4-Motion with 56k miles. This machine is clean. And the carfax is clean with all the work performed at a dealership in New Jersey. However there is what appears to be a few pieces of dust or small shredded paper just hanging out within the instrument cluster. I think it is very strange but I still bought the car because the carfax checked with all the maintenance

If you remove the cluster you can open it up and then blow it out with a compressed air. If I recall correctly opening the cluster requies removal of a few screws and then you open up four plastic clips that keep the front and back halves together. To get the cluster out To prepare pull out the adjustable steering wheel as far as you can and then push it down to its lower possible position. Remove

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Timing belt change on AWM New Body

I did the deed over the last couple of days and I have some useful information to share with whomever is interested. I have a 2001.5 New Body with an AWM engine. Im doing the timing belt next month. Im thinking it would be worth removing the frame that holds the radiator and such altogether to make access nice and easy. I will take the car into a shop to have the AC purged before and charged after since the AC hoses must disconnect. Will drain and flush

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Battery Dead and Key not working. How can i open the doorr

Hi I am back from vacation and found my car battery is dead. And somehow the key does not work on the door. But it does works on the truck though. So i am trying to unlock the door to unlock the hood for connecting the battery with another car. But i dont know how. Does anybody here knows how can i unlock the door Maybe from the trunk Thanks

I dont know if the 2000 models had a 12V plug in the trunk like the 2001.5 and later models. I know my B5.5 does and it is on the right hand bottom side of the trunk floor. The battery chargerjumper unit you need should have a plug for a cigarette lighter to plug into the 12V outlet in the trunk. It will supply enough power to run the cars electrical system so you can use your remote to open the doors.

Since I didnt have the drivers side off yet I didnt know that the passenger side was

Pete Some interesting questions... 1) You are correct on the labelling of the box. However each of the halfshafts had a loop of paper around it that also labeled the shaft. So whoever put the loop of paper around the shaft basically screwed it up so the wrong shaft was put in each box. Honestly I dont remember what they said whether it was leftright or driverpassenger but they were labeled incorrectly.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 front wheel bearing hub change

On a 2006 Passat I am trying to change the driver side front wheel bearingbearing hub assembly. I got pretty far but was unable to push the drive axle far enough back to access the bolts that hold the bearing hub assembly in...these are the four 12point socket head bolts. Does anyone have suggestions on how to push the drive axle further back. When I was pushing it toward the transmission it felt like it just couldnt go any further. Thanks for your help.

seriously Man undo the bottom 3 nuts drop the A arm out of the way Pull the assembly out towards you grab the CV axle and wiggle it out no way on gods green earth do you have to unbolt the shaft. If the CV sticks slide and alignment rod into the open end of the shaft pull the assemble away from the car and give it a few soft wacks with a mallet and she will loosen right up. VagGuy Thanks for the help. Im pretty sure I found it. I was not looking for a side mounted nut (on a long rectangular aluminum box).
