VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Help Cylinder 3 & 4 Plugs fouling

I have a VW powered trike. It is new last year (2007). After 2000 miles I had some torsion work done (it was leaning) and had the valves adjusted and the heads torqued. Thats when my troubles began. cylinders 3 & 4 plugs are fouling. They are dry (not oil) but lots of carbon which from what Ive researched indicates that they are not firing properly. Because it is only on the 3-4 side that it is not

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1976 Beetle Fuel Injected Problem

I have a 1976 VW beetle that is fuel injected with the 1600 engine. It runs fine for about 2 weeks and then starts to buck (Kind of like you let off of the clutch in the wrong gear and then try to add a lot of gas to it and it bucks like it is about to cut off.) It does this for a couple of days then it will run fine for another 2 weeks. We have taken it to our vw mechanic who works on old beetles

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Help Please

Well i have a classic VW beetle Working on restoring it. I picked up a used engine to put in it. 1600cc single port late 60s year. Well cleaned her all up cleaned carb etc... she runs nicely BUT on the right side of the engine I a leaking oil from what looks to be between the top main head and the two round cylinders below. I thought well maybe the nuts on the engine studs need to be tightened some.

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 65 Beetle Drive Belt Broke

I purchased a 65 beetle yesterday and on my way home the drive belt broke I stopped the car immediately and replaced it however the engine got hot - it was smoking Afterwards I could not get much power our of the car - I could only get up to about 40mph tops Im new to the air-cooled engines. Can you help me with what I should start checking to find the problem Thanks Harin This ad is not displayed to registered members. Today I figured out that the 3 cylinder is not firing. This is the same one that I had the stuck valve-spring on. The spark plug had oil on it when I removed it. Im guessing its a leaky valve stem seal But is that enough to cause the cylinder to not fire at all What else should I check before removing the head Can I remove the head while the engine is still in the car thanks Harin

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Diesel MPG ratings

The diesel engine MPG rating on the beetle goings down from year to year. I think the 2000s had the best rating. 2005s are rated at much less. Does anyone know why This ad is not displayed to registered members. Register your free account today and become a member on volkswagen Forum

In 2005 they changed to the PD (Pumpe Duse) motor. It has a seperate cam-driven high-pressure injector pump on each cylinder. It has a camshaft driven tandem fuel pump (low pressure) that feeds the higher unit-injector pumps located in the cylinder head under the rocker cover. The 2005 and later 1.9L diesels are rated at 100hp and 177 ftlbs of torque. It takes more fuel to make more horsepower.

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Engine Oil around spark plugs...

While changing the sparkplugs on the 1.8 I noticed engine oil around the sparkplugs. I could not see any cover gasket leaks though. Where could the oil com from This ad is not displayed to registered members. Register your free account today and become a member on volkswagen Forum

Thanks for providing a batter suggestion to know about the spark plugs problem. I prefer to regular time checked my cylinder heads and also do auto services. I thinks its a nominal problem to spark plugs nearest the engine.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 TB Broke looking for AUG compatible heads

2001 (early) B5 Passat 1.8T AUG engine. 102411 miles and the timing belt broke at 80MPH on the interstate. Im assuming bent valves as the noise was most unpleasant for the first few seconds. I have a lead on a 1998 1.8T whole engine. I noticed the timing belt kit was different for the AUG from any other engine. I think its the tensioner thats different (unsure). Are my heads compatible with those from

Spent 8 or so hours getting it apart. All exhaust valves bent the outer intake valves look OK but the middle one is bent on every cylinder. Pistons have cute little smiley faces on them from the valves but they dont look cracked or damaged too bad. Ill look closer but not planing on replacing them. So I go pick up this 99 beetle head tomorrow. Crossing fingers I can make it work. 450 isnt bad. Another

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Abbreviations

Hey Gang I have taken the liberty of compiling a list of terms that we commonly see in the world of volkswagenAudi Group or volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft (VAG) cars. Most of these terms include those that are VAGs own internal names andor wording jargon that comes from popular sites like ClubB5 (CB5) and Passat World etc. as well as general car terms that we use for cars other than those made by VAG.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 turbo sludge lawsuit

It was only a question of time right A national class action case has now been filed against VW for the massive turbo sludge failures in its 1998-2004 longitudinal mount 1.8T. Am I missing something here Did VW really shrink the size of the oil pan on these cars simply to fit the engine into a longitudinal application My interest in the answer to this question and several other questions of a technical

us on these forums are in that group. However people who either religiously or loosely followed service recommendations offered by VW when they bought their car are getting hurt because they did follow the manufacturers recommendation and still ended up with sludge problems. I also have to agree with Kenny on the lower capacity point. The Audi A4 was the first with this engine the Jetta Golf beetle

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 So should seafoam cause my turbo to smoke

Well i put some seafoam in my intake and it had a lot of smoke coming out the exhaust which is normal but then i also saw a substantial amount of smoke coming from the turboexhaust manifold area. it was also slightly wet. does this mean that i have an exhaust leak somewhere in that area

or so. On heated MAF equipped cars such as VWs I unplug the MAF out of superstition more than anything not having air going over it and all. With the BG equipment you can do the service with the intake system still intact but doing it at home means youll have the hose off at the throttle body. As for LDP pumps Ive seen a couple go but it is quite rare. 90% of the ones Ive replaced were on beetles

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 2005 passat with blown engine 50k miles on body

My neighbors daughter drove around with a broken timing belt and wrecked the motor...if i could get it for about 500 bucks do you think this would be a good buy woul i need an entire engine or new internals what would a new engine cost

A friend of mine had a timing belt let go on her 1.8T beetle. A used cylinder head is about 800 online and probably another couple hundred for gaskets and such. I would get it. I like those B5 wagons.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Coolant leak 00 V-6

Alright.....I have enjoyed working on my car recently and actually being able to fix it but I have been gone for a few days and come back and my wife informs me the car has been leaking coolant. I understand it has now left a small puddle under the car and have no idea on where to

could be done would be with a 98 5.9L ZJ or an SRT8 Grand Cherokee. What I was talking about was the acceleration time from 60 to 75mph is measured with a calendar. My 1979 Chevy Luv 4X4 would do better. And it had a 67bhp 1.8L 4 cylinder in it. With a carb. And breaker point ignition. And a 1500 pound camper shell on the back. And 29X8.50X14 ASs on it.
