VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE cooling issues with 00 beetle

hey all my girlfriends 00 beetle is not holding coolant and it seems to be leaking on the side opposite the timing belt where the water pump isnt. Im assuming that what Im seeing is the thermostat and that replacing that gasket would solve my problems. However the radiator fans arent spinning either. Is there anyone who can tell me whether or not these electric radiator fans are supposed to turn all

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 01 NB cooling system

Hi all- I have some problems with my battery being drained and I think its related to my cooling system. My after shut-down cooling fan doesnt seem to be working but a circulation (I think) pump runs for a long time after the engine is shut off. I tested the fans-- both good. (Pulled the connector off the thermo switch to test them). It seems that the thermo switch is bad but what controls this pump

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 00 Beetle Overheating problems

I recently started having problems with my 00 beetle overheating and have noticed that niether of the cooling fans run whether the car is running or not no matter how hot the engine gets. The water pump is working fine and the serpentine belt is brand new and tensioned correctly. The fans both operate when connected directly to the battery so I have narrowed the problem down to one of three potential

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE AC Compressor does not run

AC compressor does not run in 98 beetle automatic. Fuses are good but I have not tracked down the other permissives that allow the compressor to run. Are there any common failures for this year and model such as switches or relays This ad is not displayed to registered members. There are a lot of sensors switches and a couple of relays that could be the problem. First are your cooling fans running

The cooling fans cycle on and off during normal driving with the AC compressor off but do not turn on when the compressor has been switched on. I tried this after the car was up to normal operating temperature and after I saw the fans cycle a few times.

VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE Overheating...suspects

Its been extra warm for march (65F) and our 2.0 99 Bettle (125k)as started overheating after a few miles. The top hose is hot so I think that means that the thermostat is OK I checked the aux fans and found that the large fan is not working. Ive got a replacement motor on order. Is that enough to cause the overheating My other suspect is.... A month or so ago the Plastic cooling manifold on the end

Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Terry This ad is not displayed to registered members. Register your free account today and become a member on volkswagen Forum

Check for trouble codes first. Also make sure the cooling fans are operating. Have you checked the AC pressures on the high and low side
