MERCEDES BENZ CLASS R W251 V251 Tailgate does not latch after replacing battery on 2007 R350

Hi All I have a 2007 R350. Yesterday I replaced the main battery and today Ive noticed some weird side effects. 1. The windows and sunroof acted funny but after rolling it down and up everything seems to be ok. I guess it just needed to be re-calibrated. 2. After opening the tailgate I could not close it because the lock does not latch. The gate goes up and down all right except the latching. Is there

We had a similar problem with the latch. The stealer had to replace the mechanism. The hatch just quit latching. It may be coincidence

The operator manual tells about recalibrating the windows and sunroof. There is no mention of tailgate recalibration except for adjusting the variable liftgate height.

So I was in a little while ago and got some killer help on replacing a blower resistor-so here I am with another issue. Got in my Libby yesterday to leave for work and the tailgate window was open a bit. It was closed when I had gotten home form work the night before. It appears that after opening by itself the latch locked and remains in the locked position and is preventing the window from closing

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W164 Tailgate latch not closing

Hello I got a problem on my W164 Class M 320 CDI. My tailgate latch is open and dont want to close when i close my tailgate. Even when im closing all the other doors with the key. In fact it happened since i opened it last day and the latch made a ZZZZ noise for 1 min and then nothing... The latch is now bloqued in a opened status.. I would first like to know which fuse can control this latch because

I got an 07 ML350 that had the same problem. The door would close but not latch. Sometimes slamming it closed would work. I found the handle used to open the latch would stick when you pulled on it making the latch stay in the open position. I just sprayed some oil on the ends of the handle and moved it back and forth a few times. I now works perfectly. Also saved the cost of replacing it.

FORD F150 Tailgate latch damaged need to replace

So during our gale winds in Iowa this week an empty garbage dumpster rolled about 200 feet across a parking lot and hit my truck. The only place it hit was the handle of the tailgate How hard to replace and how much Looks like it bowed the metal a little but since the paint isnt broken Im not going to worry about the rear panel. replacing the handle is pretty much the same on the 09-10s as the 04-08s. If you have a factory installed bedliner remove the eight torx head screws and lift off plastic tailgate cover under cover is a metal access plate remove it (the same screws that hold plastic cover on hold access plate on) If you dont have the bedliner then just remove access plate. Inside the tailgate is the handle remove the

JEEP WRANGLER Replacing Tailgate Hinges

I am starting to look at the available tailgate hinges so I can replace my badly corroded ones on my yellow 02 TJ. I am looking at the black ones available and see that a few suppliers offer stainless ones coated black. Not sure where I am going to buy them from but am curious if anybody has experience with any specific stainless ones and what do they like or dislike about them. I have spare hood latches

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE I ZJ ZJ Tailgate window latch

I finally decided today to swap out the tailgate struts on my wifes 98 ZJ after having numerous whacks to the head due to the old struts being shot. In the process of swapping the struts I tried to open the tailgate window and noticed pushing the button it would not open. After changing the tailgate struts I pulled off the interior plastics to investigate. It appears the tailgate window latch is not

did not have very good luck finding the microswitch that I needed online the only part number I found was stamped on the bracket (56007267) which did not show as available on any OEM chrysler parts database. The reason most likely is that the Liftgate handle assembly is the Lowest Replaceable Part in which this microswitch is part of. A new OEM liftgate handle runs about 90.00 a little steep for replacing

I did some searching because Im looking to do a replacement of the microswitch without replacing the entire handle setup. Sub-Microswitch E Series Sub-Mini switches (Cherry Electronics) Cherry Electronics E62-00A (Mouser Electronics) Microswitch Cherry E70 Series (Cherry Electronics - closest I could find to original interesting though this may be able to replace both switches in one. NISSAN Tailgate Adjustment

Does anyone know if or how to adjust the tailgate Mine seems to be getting more and more play in it when I shut it. It used to sit pretty flush with the taillights but now it seems to pop out and has about 14 - 12 inch of play now

I know this thread is sorta dead but I had this problem and fixed it for like 10 cents in five minutes. I had this play in my tailgate from the moment I looked at the truck on the dealers lot. It was preowned so I guess it just happened over time. Dealership tried to convince me they had fixed some of the play by replacing the posts that the tailgate latches onto. I drove it off the lot with the gate

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS R W251 V251 R320 tailgate doesnt close

I have major problem with the 2007 R320CDI. Every now and then the tailgate would not close properly the second attempt always fixed this and really not bothered too much. Now what had happened the tailgate had not closed and interior light was on and drained the battery. I recharged the battery and things were good for few days. Then the tailgate would not close again I switched off all interior lights

The latch has been a nagging issue. there are several steps. The first one is a latch adjustment not under warranty no surprise and they want to charge 90 minutes of labour for this second step is replacing the latch last step is the entire lifting mechanism. I dont know what a latch adjustment is. My dealer could not fix it with an adjustment and had to change the latch. perhaps opening up the trim one could see what may be missaligned.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W164 tailgate repair

fyi thought some of you would want to know...i just replaced lock in rear power tailgate due to it not locking after door powered itself closed. original part was 164-740-00-35 and new part is 164-740-07-35. I paid 165 with tax for the part. Not too bad of job but some scrapped knuckles. there is a star bulletin for 2006 164.175186 Power Closing Assist in the tailgate Intermittently Nonfunctional date 2242006 t-b-72.2043b.

with dots of white paint before moving it in case I ever wanted to put it back. THIS FIXED MY latch AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING FOR MONTHS PERFECTLY Before the fix it worked about 50% of the time and only 10-20% in cold winter weather. Step 2 If the above doesnt fix it perfectly your latching mechanism is now worn out. The part online was 150-200 if I remember correctly. Definitely try Step 1 before replacing

BMW X3 E83 Help - Tailgate wont open

Hi guys Having an issue with my tailgate lately it wont open when I try to open it by holding and pulling the tailgate grip. Also when I unlock and lock the vehicle I cant really hear the tailgate make the

I havent checked the license plate lights yet Ill do that tomorrow. Can you hear your tailgate unlock when you press unlock on your key fob KingJ Its weird because prior to replacing the struts it was fine and as soon as Id unlock all the doors I could pull the trunk grip and the latch would release. Now I cant even hear the latch unlocklock like the rest of the doors.

NISSAN Missing tailgate lock cylinder...

Anyone have their tailgate lock cylinder just magically disappear There are no signs of vandalism or damage....just looks like it popped right out of the plastic cover. tailgate still closes find and latches....but theres that hole now.

This is a rather common problem. The bolt that holds the lock assm. in position either comes loose or the nut becomes loose in the plastic as coltbean mentioned in his post above. If you are under warranty have your dealer repair it. If out of warranty you remove the plastic cover on the inside of your tailgate then the metal inside cover and that will expose the mechanical latchlock assm. It is not rocket science and depending on what the cause is it isnt hard to repair epoxy or maybe just replacing the black plastic part of the tailgate (handle holder).

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Jetta variant latch problem

A friend at work has a problem with the tailgate latch on his wifes Jetta (MY2003 I think). The power trunk release isnt working and hes wondering if it has a bad solenoid or switch...or if its something as simple as a loose connector. Anyway hes wondering if anyone has any pointers or can post an excerpt from the Bentley CD on removing and replacing said solenoid. He has ordered the hardcopy Bentley book but doesnt want to wait for it to arrive...like I said its his wifes car TIA Matt

NISSAN 01 tail gate latch handle broken

My tail gate latch handle has broken again. The dealership wants 120 for the whole assembly and a lot of places will sell just the handle for about 17. These plastic after market handles arent worth a darn.Does anyone know of a steel handle for sale out there anywhere or will I have to go to the dealership to get the quality that will last for more than a year or two Thanks

BMW SERIES 5 E39 E39 Wagon Tailgate lock malfunction

Symptom I can not open the tail gate. When I press either key button 3 or tailgate button on driver left knee or button outside of tailgate I can hear the actuator sound. But the tailgate door is still locked. The only way I can release the door is to 1) remove the interior cover of the tailgate 2) pull the manual release plastic plug. As owner manual page 181 suggested Once I open the door I can close

Hi there. I had a heap of problems with my tailgate lock. One was a broken earth wire where the hinges are this caused a number of symptoms including problems with the fog and reverse lamps. Another was the release actuator itself - A plastic part had broken - see my post if youre interested. httpwww.bimmerfest.comforumssho...lighttailgate I suspect your problem will be similar the actuator both moves the latch and has a limit switch inside. Its not too bad a job to take all the plastic off and get to the parts to change them. You just need a cross head screwdriver and a couple of torx bits. Easier with two people but I can do it on my own fairly quickly now Ive had it on and off a few times. You can take the stuff off confirm the diagnosis and still drive the car before ordering the part and replacing. Hope that helps

JEEP CHEROKEE Help cant get tailgate open

While on the way home today with a load of sod on the trailer the sod rebelled andconvinced the trailer to leap off the ball and use the safety chains to charge the tailgate. There is a plethora of threads about getting the hatch open. Try searching for hatch . But.. in your case when you push the button in is there a click or nothing If there is a click you can do like I do. I have to push the button then grab the gap just above the taillights between the hatch and the rear quarter panel and pull. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E III 211 W211 Wagon Owners - Help with Rear Power Latch

Hello Combed the site on this and there doesnt seem to be a thread on the matter. I have a 2004 E320 Wagon and have always let the power latch close the rear door of the wagon. I know the motor for the power latch still works because I hear it whir once I close the rear door. However the latch no longer seems to be drawing the door shut. The rear door catches the latch but the power latch doesnt draw

The W211 wagons also offer a cargo security cover. Great feature as it hides your valuables in the wagoncargo area. It is also attached to a motorized retractor that lifts the cover conveniently out of your way. Its activated when you open or close the wagons rear tailgate door. My issue with this cover is that the rectractor is sticking. I believe it works on the principle of a spring loaded with a motor and that this is located on each side of the cover. Well the first issue is the right side retractor refuses to take the cover to the top end of the retractor rail. The other issue is the left side retractor refuses to take the cover to the lower end of the retractor rail. In effect the retractors appear out of alignment with each other. Anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue I have taken these rails off the car and they are not spring loaded. They are powered by a single motor which resides on the top of the roof which if you say is working is not the problem. Also since the parcel cover attempts to close and open the SAM (signal Acquisition Module) is neither the issue. I think you will need to replace both of the side rails in order to get them to work properly. It is a simple thing to replace and should cost around 60 for the pair from the dealer. If you need help in taking them out and replacing them let me know as Ive thias a number of times in trying to diagnose my former issue.

JEEP CHEROKEE XJ Trees Suck My XJs tailgate...

SO... I was offroading again the other day and my brakes (or tires) slipped on the dirt and I let up a little and immediately proceeded to back into a tree. Long story short I am out a back window and a non-functioning tailgate. I went to a local auto body joint and they said that they could get me a used tailgate and install it for 750. Is that a fair price I think it may be a bit on the steep side

i just did this to mine about 4 months ago..i was wheeling and we were push starting it after it died and the rear end locked up and the truck bushing me had one of those chrome push bars and we had a tire between my bumper and his but when the rear end locked up his truck slid over the tire and into my hatch. i drove it like that for about a year until i was at the junkyard and we found a chili pepper red 98 cherokee and stole the hatch off it. 48 with the glass. only pain is the wiring lining it up (the 4 bolts also allign the hatch) and swapping over the lock cylinder (there is a 10mm nut on the inside. if it spins rather than just replacing the latch you can replace the lock cylinder instead.) SMART FORTWO Major Electrical Issue

The right (passenger) side tailgate release lever has broken with the tailgate in the closed position. I can not open the tailgate. Has others had this problem Parts are ordered and well see...

Dont use a big screw driver in the latch to open it up. You can use a cotter pin (or maybe a strong paper clip) straightened out with a little L angle on the end. You can then stick this down into the latch and then PULL UP the ratchet tooth which unlocks the latch. Very easy and no brut force required. The ratchet tooth is the little shiny thing behind the spring. Its this that you want to hook with the L shaped hook and pull up towards you. Ive attached some images that show the ratchet tooth location and the drawing of what you need to do. Once the latch is open taking apart the tailgate and replacing the part is very easy (torx screwdriver required). The part is about 50.00.

FORD F150 So my passenger side bed is mis-welded

So the driver side of my tailgate sticks out pretty good so I brought it to the attention of my dealer so they took it to the body shop to get the tailgate aligned. Apparently they said it wasnt a big deal and wouldnt take long to fix. Well after they had it only a few mins the tech advised me the passenger side of the bed was mis-welded from the factory. He says because of that it cannot be adjusted

If they will put it in writing and include the part about replacing it for free then it is a fairly ok deal. I personally have not changed a box side on the new F150s but I am curious about what actually comes from factory on the replacement panel. I would be aware of what exactly comes on the new part and pay attention to any and all welds that attach the current panel to the truck. It is also extremely

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear Gate will not open (2002 Jeep Liberty)

I saw some other threads on this but had a new question that I could not find the answer to. Issue Rear gate will not open when I pull the handle. The window opens fine. I removed the rear panel which is located on the inside part of the door. After I get it off there is a white cloth material which flaps up to show a plastic covering. I was thinking this was like the door panel liner which comes off

video. However the fact that the glass does lift up when you initially pull on the gate handle doe seem to indicate that the first micro-switch in the handle is working fine and pops up the glass...the spring inside the glass latch is supposed to push the glass quit far out and the gas struts should pull the glass all the way up...try spraying some silicon oil on the struts or else they need replacing.

who got it open (he probably beat on it more than I did) and he REPLACED THE REAR latch and installed the new pistons. On mine the latch sounded bad. Now it works perfectly. IMHO with bad pistons the gate sits down on the latch as opposed to being held under tension up against it so it wore out the cable mechanism. He had like 4 hours labor to do the job. Good luck I had the same problem and replacing

Then I put a seal on the front door which by the way will probably need replacing

NISSAN Loud bed tail gate

Hey guysgals I have a 2nd gen 08 CC LB truck with 125k miles on it. I have taken it off road an amount but nothing hard and I dont drive it hard off road. Mainly trails you could be in 2wd in and be ok I run 4hi so I dont burn my rear tires all the time. I also have done some 4x4 in lo time to time but not a whole lot. Its been tweaked pretty good too but Im easy on it. Anyways my truck from the CC

My truck sounds like the biggest pile of sht ever because of the squeaky leafs and tailgate rattle. It literally sounds like my truck is one bolt away form falling completely apart when I am in the dirt. But I dont really care much its a truck...just embarrassing when I have put so much time and effort into it. The tailgate bushingslatches are complete crap and so are the leaf springs they will squeak and rattle after the first few weeks of owning the stupid thing. Nissan has pretty much ignored any fault. I have given up and will be simply removing my tailgate even though I never wanted to. You can try to bring it back to the dealer and they will provide a temporary solution but ultimately they are replacing it with Nissan parts so it will be the same in a few weeks anyways.

I will be doing some upgrades on my rollbars as well but keeping the factory B and C upright pillars. I guess theres no harm in removing them and replacing them again eh I assume all the plastic covers on the arms of the tail gate and around the tailgate latch you removed as well And what about the brass looking door latch loops Remove them or spray around Thanks so much for letting me bounce these ideas off ya and answering my questions -)

Our twin Cayenne Red 2012 Rogue SLs have covered 20500 miles. Rogue1 has 9300 miles Rogue2 has 10200 miles I can sum it up pretty easily. Boy do we miss our German cars. We come from a long line of Honda & Nissan products having switched to BMW and Mercedes back in 2008 before trading both for these Rogues in light of rising maintenance costs. The Rogues are cheerful theyre good vehicles but were just

I am popping back in with updates. Rogue1 10505 miles Rogue2 12105 miles This has joined the two Rogues in our garage 2009 C300 Sport 6-speed manual Now everyone is happy for the most part. Nissan has been great trying to work out the issues with Rogue2. It is actually in the shop now. They took my camera phone photos as proof of the lighting issue with the navigation system and are replacing the unit.

the tailgate in the fully down and locked position. So - no there is no other remote release in the cargo area. Just the direct release once the panel is raised. You said before you did not want to use a Battery Tender while the X3 is stored. But it would be useful in a case like this. You could have plugged it in to the cigarette lighter to re-gain power to the tailgate latch (Also useful when replacing

I bought my Bestop one after having a 33 on the tailgate for years. The Bestop carrier kind of looked like it was sagging after about 6mo and didnt seem to carry the tailgate as much as at first. Not sure if the bolts were loose but now after replacing the bolts with some grade 8s and torquing them down it feels pretty solid with my 35. I didnt want to deal with a second latch if possible. That is

JEEP WRANGLER My custom rear storage box setup and fold down tail gate

Well after looking around and not being able to find exactly what I wanted in a commercially available setup I decided to just build my own. 200 in raw materials the latches and struts were a nice chunk of the cost. I framed it out with .60 1x1 square tube and sheeted with 18gage steel. I wanted something I could lock up the rear of the jeep with and provide some weather protection in case I got caught

quality issues. These are the people in the late 80s early 90s who bought these very expensive very dependable cars with little problems only to upgrade to the newer Benzs that just arent what they were. It is very apparent if you have an older MB. Yes the newer ones have all the updated gadgets that are must haves now BUT my S is almost 19 years old 130k miles and ROCK SOLID. With exception of replacing
