Take out the glove box. Its on the lower left once its out. Pull it out. Dont worry its meant to shatter into pieces when you remove it. Put new one in reinstall glove box.
How often should this be done
When it starts to smell a bit moldy.... like very very old wet leather [)] Its part of B Service.
on the clk you dont have to pull out glove box. It is located by the passenger footwell. You only remove the glove box on an e class.
unitfreebie Ive been looking at this myself & i think that the cabinpollencharcoal filter are all the same thing. Its located on top of the battery in the engine bay and is accessible by undoing 3 clips. If you dont have AC then i think you fit the pollen filter but if you do have AC i think you fit the charcoal filter Correct me if im wrong someone
[quotepaddlingpool2893036]unitfreebie Ive been looking at this myself & i think that the cabinpollencharcoal filter are all the same thing.quote] I think so too because i just went to the same store that I alway bought stuffs for mine mercedes and asked them about cabin filter and charcoal filter and the guys said that his Bocsh part catalog only showed cabin filter for mine 2006 clk. If there is one
Wow... I will have to think about this again I actually have the new Cabin CarbonCharcoal filters (2 pcs) in hand ... so... I There is a link to the W208 DIY Carbon filter (2 pcs) change so it would be strange for mercedes to eliminate it in the W209 or make it smaller. The air filter above the battery is a white paper type. Not a Charcoal filter. The pollen filter is the same as the Carbon filter it will filter out small pollen particles and odors like diesel soot smell. Anyone else
This is my understanding Above the battery pollen filter 203-830-09-18 Behind the glove box Charcoal filter Can someone please provide the part number of the charcoal filter
filter - dont take it to a place where they suck the oil out the top get it done where they will drain it from the bottom i still dont understand this logic of sucking out the top as all the crap sits at the bottom of the engine and thats what you want out gearbox oil - this WILL need doing it was an idea that boxes like this would never need a change but thats proven to be untrue. Yet again a mercedes
I had similar but not the same experience with my w209. I would hear whistling sound from the vents when I turned up the fan. I fixed it by replacing the pollen filter (203-830-09-18). This pollen filter is located on top of my car very easy to replace. A dirty filter would restrict the air flow and hence the whistling sound.

Air comes in to your car from the passenger side base of your windshield. The air flows to a drainage box. With the grill at the bottom of the windshield removed you™ll probably see water in the bottom of the box. At the bottom of the box to the right there is a drainage tube. As jtbeche posted it may be blocked by leaves. If so water will accumulate until it can overflow into the pollen filter. The
Hi can someone tell me how to change the pollen filter i had a leak in my footwell. Now theres a funny smell in the car. I think it could be the filter

I think it could be the filter Yeah it probably is the filter thats causing the smell - mine was stinking too. The smell went when I changed the filter. I also had the air-conditioning system cleaned de-bugged as this can also cause stale smells.

So I drove my clk for another 1.5 weeks and the CEL came back on this time it was the P0170 and the P0173 indicating a fuel trim malfunction in both banks. Strange as it may seem the CEL came back on under same exact conditions as the first time. Driving on the highway doing about 65 or so & both times there was some type of pollen release from these trees that are along the sides of the highway near
Couldnt tell you the cost because it was basically free. Last year had some massive problems with my AC system and the car was in the shop for a month - fortunately had my pick of several MBs to drive during that time complements of the dealership. They initially tried several things - the AC would shut down after a few minutes - restart then shut down again. - turned out it was a programming issue
Definitely change this air filter MB calls it the pollen filter. I remember once I neglected this air filter for 1-2 year it was so dirty that when I turned my vent high I would hear whinning whizzing noise. I changed it afterward and the whinning noise was gone. I would imagine with a clogged filter the blower motor will have to work harder thus will fail sooner This filter located above the battery is inexpensive and is easy to change.
It definitely wasnt my filter. I made a discovery on the scent today. Looks like an oil leak. Going to start a different thread so the question can get answered. Ill tag you Rudney and Keyhole...maybe you can chime in and give some advice. Quote Originally Posted by mis3 Definitely change this air filter MB calls it the pollen filter. For example I opened up my air filter boxes to check the filters and found
Problem solved - I think And it may be worth explaining as it may happen to others. Logic said that if I got air on Recirc but not otherwise then the fresh air inlet must be obstructed. But this didnt explain why it worked sometimes especially as no fault was flagged on STAR. First job was to check the operation of the fresh air flap - this worked perfectly. But a look at the pollen filter showed it

Its all good now. Glad your happy with the results Thanks for the advice
I had a similar fault with my E class W210. The fault was the fan resistor located behind the dash on the passenger side of the car (UK Right hand drive) i then regained control of the desired fan speed Your cabin pollen filter may need replacing to cure the amount of air coming out of the vents. This is also located in the same area. If it has not been changed for a while it will be partially blocked with general dust etc

Make sure that you also have the pollen filter changed which
