MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Vin Decode for Water Pump Replacement

Hi guys Im new here and am helping a buddy with some DIY stuff on his 1999 E320. The water pump is loose so thats next on our list but before I start ordering parts from the likes of Autohaus I want to feel comfortable that I know exactly what he owns car class engine series etc. Regarding the VIN Ive tried the mercedes-benz Club Russia site translated from Russian to English but the VIN decoding

Thanks for your replies. If I knew the engine series I think it would be easy enough to determine what water pump to get. I wish the VIN thing wasnt so convoluted with mercedes benz and I cant believe the Russian site is pinnacle.

Well the mercedes VIN is easy its when you have to deal with the crazy U.S. VIN conversion that it gets all kinda stupid. If you take

After getting back from the lake yesterday my car said check coolant level right as I was pulling in the garage. Sure enough I could see pooled coolant down in the belly pan. After putting my car up on the ramps and taking the belly pan off I could tell the leak is coming from the water pump on my CDI at 68000 miles. While I am replacing the pump are there any other parts worth replacing while Im down

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 Replacing water pump

I have read through the existing threads and have some questions. I have posted a couple of times here and got good feedback. This place is a big help. Ok so I just bought this car. 95 c280170k miles and I am trying to get it on the road. It had some antifreeze leaking overnight so I had it checked out. Mechanic says it is a cold leak and needs a water pump. Estimate 700. I know that is BS his estimate

Mechanic says it is a cold leak and needs a water pump. Estimate 700. I know that is BS his estimate is 260 for parts and 5 hours labor. I know I can get the water pump for 60.00. 1. They say it is a cold leak and with a pressure test is not leaking when it is running. So can I drive this car until I get it fixed if I keep the antifreeze topped up It is leaking quite a bit overnight about 2 cups maybe. 2. Can someone please tell me the basic steps to replacing this pump I am wondering why 5 hours estimate. 3. I saw other posts mention replacing other items while having the pump done. I saw thermostat serpentine belt idler pulley tensioner pulley. I dont know if these apply to my car or not. Are these parts inexpensive and involved in the water pump replacement 4. Someone told me I can get some addative for the antifreeze that will stop the water pump leak. Is this true How safe Is it worth a try or can it do more damage that good 5. Is there anything else to be aware of for this repair I saw something mentioned about keeping the bolts in the same order. Sounds like quite a serious leak so I would not drive it nor would I try some sort of BS additive to stop it. I replaced the pump on a 98 230 cant imagine the 6 is that much different. Price out a decent quality pump like a Bosch or some other German make. If you havent replaced the radiator hoses do those as well. Paid about 110 for the pump with gasket throw in 30-40 bucks for hoses and 15 for the antifreeze. Figure on about 3-4 hours to do the job if you are fairly skilled on cars. And when you replace the antifreeze go with the Zerex. Here is the link to my posting about the job a couple of weeks ago httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsw202...p-98-c230.html Check out this video its on a 4 cyl c230 but should be mostly the same for the 6 mercedes water pump replacement w202 m111 inline 4cylinder - YouTube

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 97 E320 Water PumpHead Gasket Q

I did a search on these two questions & suprisingly found nothing here so I will ask em. I have a 97 E320 with a straight six. It has 135K on it & has been a great car...no real problems & still burns no oil. Last night I had some fluid on the floor. The temp here was in the teens so I went ahead & took it into the stealer oops I mean dealer to have them look at it. I need a new water pump...no suprise

about your water pump issue i had to change the water pump not too long ago on my 97E320 with 127000miles on it. the dealer charges somewhere between 300-400 for the water pump but you can get a brand new one on e-bay for less than 150. i think i paid 120 for mine. i will give the link. it was originally listed for 145 or best offer i made an offer for 120 and got approved. or you can call them on the phone and the guy was really helpfull. the water pump was made in italy solari i think was the brand. so far it has worked fine. eBay Motors NEW water pump mercedes benz C280 E320 SL320 (item 170070144437 end time Feb-11-07 121115 PST)

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 E230 Coolant leaking at the water pump (1996 model)

Im willing to have a go at fixing this. Has anyone done it before Any traps for the first timer Its been losing coolant for a few weks now but in the last couple fo days every time i switch the engine off It dumps a good splash of it on the ground. Its time.

like kajtek said hoses are in front of water pump and not in rear. the rear is just directly connected to the engine block. if its leaking from seals or weep holes than you need to replace whole pump seals. if water pump is original than it had a long life. changing water pump in m104 is not piece of cake so plan a whole day. on m104 water pump replacement is definitely harder and more time consuming than m112. i doubt book time is less than 5 hours my guess would be you wont find labor for less than 400. when i change mine many years ago it took me all saturday but im no mechanic. if i had to repeat the process i would just pay a mechanic. cheapest quote i got at the time was 600 for oem pump labor. here is a very good diy on water pump replacement for m104 Pelican Technical Article mercedes benz - water pump Replacement p.s. what are your symptoms

small ones essentially are snugged. Use a short handle ratchet and be careful. They are there just to provide steady even pressure. Note how easily they removed. I then put on the new idler pulley and cap the new belt tensioner and the belt. The hardest part of the job it fitting in the plastic fan shroud. Take your time. Then reinstall the fan clutch assembly. Mechanically you are done. Add new mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W163 Which Water Pump and DYI

Hi Vehicle 2003 ML55 AMG 90.000 Miles I am replacing my water pump but have a few questions Which brand water pump would be good (benz on a budget good). What brand manufactures OEM I have heard of Bosch Meyle and Graf but which would be good and cheap Same for thermostat which I might as well replace too I found the following DYI but I have electric fan. Is there a better DYI or is this close enough

at Pelican Parts right now. You DO need the one with the extra outlet for the oil cooler. Whaler is the OEM for the thermostat. 26.00 right now at pelican. You may want to consider doing the water pump Pulley Idler Pulley and Serp Belt at the same time since there coming off anyway and are inexpensive. You need the proper tools to take off the Fan Clutch. Ebay sets like this are pretty good mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S I 126 Possible Water Pump Issues

Greetings all Ive been noticing a squealing noise coming from center front of my car sometimes when driving. Now today coming home I noticed the temp gauge a little over 80 degrees with a small coolant leak once I parked the car. The temperature here in Philadelphia is about 20 degrees. I have never changed the water pump since I had the car over 9 years and now I have 284000 plus on her. What are some symptoms of water pump about to go Thanks in advance for any input

and I decided to replace my water pump as part of that. It hasnt failed - its an OEM pump and it may be the original - but given the unknown miles and some evidence of leakage I felt like it was a liability. I decided to go with a Graf water pump just because it didnt seem worth spending four times as much. Heres some input I got from Gary at buyeuroparts Quote the oe pump is a pump rebuilt by mercedes.

The original mercedes OE design has a stainless steel impeller - however technologies have changes so now thinner German alloy implers are used. The other end of the coin are China and India made pumps where the impeller is cheap design and done in cheap pot-metal-alloy. mercedes dealer parts depts do have

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 565 to replace water pump

My mom just took her 00 E320 to the mercedes dealer in Tallahassee Fl to get an alignment after having the ball joints replaced. The service advisor said that the car needed a water pump and the cost was 565. Is this price reasonable for the work The car also has a griding noise which is caused by the ac pulley and that was quoted for 1100. This just worries me because we took the car to the dealer

even more expansive. No a bad clutch will not burn out a compressor because there is a melt-able fuse that will dis-engage the compressor when lockup is detected. That is by design. In another word the clutch would spin but the compressor would not. The water pump job price is not bad from dealer because the pump lists for 280. There is a huge saving for the same parts when ordered from online mercedes

1996 E320 S6 117000 miles I have been noticing small traces of coolant on the garage floor every once in a while. Today I notice a significant amount on the floor. After further investigation I found a leak coming from what I believe is the underneath side of the water pump (upper driver side of engine). 1. Is this a sign that the water pump needs to be replaced 2. Looks fairly easy to replace any

What I noted from my experience that benz needs to replce its water pump after 100000 km ( it could be more due to many reasons) You may also hear a continuos sound comes out of the water pump even if you sit in the front. In addition to water leake engine over heat & coolent level low are all indicating water pump proble. I strongly recommend you to buy OEM pump as a rebuilt one is not very realiable. With Luck...
