KIA CEED ED Active Headrests

I Have Just Got A kia ceed Sw. The Front headrests Are Active So They Have A Cable From Them Through The Seat And Under The Floor. Is It Possible To Disconnect Them As I Have New headrests With Video Screens That I Want To Use. Thank You

Yes as far as I know the active part is nothing else but the headrest acts soft with your head - if someone hit you in the back the headrest goes a little backwards and then moves forward to cushion the head. No electronics there

Thank You Active headrests are head restraints that pivot forwards in the event of an impact cushioning the head and helping to minimise whiplash

here is how i did it i found that the active headrest couldnt come off and there is some kind of electronic circuit board inside the headrest we checked it with a mini cam inside the headrest and could see some kind of electronic so we mounted the 7 on the outside and drilled a hole into the headrest pole and mounted the wires inside the pole

KIA CEED ED Active headrest is giving me lower back ake.

Hi all I have recently had a kia ceed 3 2012 and we are very happy with the car but I have noticed there is something diggin in my lower back and I took no notice at first as its a new car and just took it as me just getting used to a deferent car. It was a kia approved car with 12000 miles on and first thought the seat may have dipped on the back but it seems ok but not as firm as the passenger side.

the full range of adjustments available including lumbar (lower back) settings if available. It would be interesting to have opinion on what is the lumbar adjustment is supposed to do. I cant work it out. A knob is provided with obviously moves something inside the seat but it makes absolutely no difference to reducing the void in that area. Ive noticed this on all cars incidentally not just the ceed.

Both myself and wifey have back problems but on log trips but we find the ceed excellent with not aches even after 8 or more hours in the car. The seats do have shape they are not just 2 flat slabs dont know why Ace Demon says that if you want flat the C-Max we had was flat (yet still comfortable after 8 hours in the driving seat - the passenger seat had no lumbar and gave us both issues). Would suggest

I scoff at users who sit perched in front of computers with screens at eye level but with necks straining. End of rant. (Was that a rant) Im not sure how I sit to look at the screen when not thinking about it. (Though desks and cars do have different requirements.) But I am at the desk now and despite looking at a screen below eye height I still have more backrest contact than I get from the ceed

KIA CEED ED Are front headrests removable

On my ceed I wanted to lay a long sheet of chipboard from front windscreen to rear parcel shelf across the seat tops. Managed to remove rear seat headrests but couldnt get the front passenger headrest to come out of the slots. The same was with the drivers headrest. Are these front headrests removable or a fixed safety feature

NO they are fixed. There are cables running up inside the front seats and then through one of the arms of the headrest which links with pressure bars at the bottom of the seat backs with a mechanism fitted to the front of the headrests. In the event of a rear end shunt the passengers hips and lower back are rammed into pressure bar which through the cable forces the headrest forwards to protect you from whiplash.

Thanks for the help received here. Good job I didnt try to force the headrests out of their location . Did manage to get the chipboard worktop in by altering angle of front passenger seat so the headrest was in more of a horizontal plane.

Johnfranklyn thanks for compliment but Ill let you into a little secret. Ive been a production engineer at Rolls-Royce Aero Engines for over 40 years. If I didnt give clear and concise descriptions and instructions they would sack me.

KIA CEED ED Broken Active Headrest

Hi all Question for anyone with a ceed with active headrests. Since I bought my ceed a few months back everytime I sit in the front seat the active headrest pops forward no effort required. I went into kia who said it was broken and that theyd fix it which they did yesterday. All seemed fine until today when I sat in the seat and again the headrest popped forward. Ill call kia Monday but they said

Entire seat must be replaced because headrest cannot be removed or replaced. Activating mechanism is in the seat at lower back position and activates the headrest when car is damaged from rear. Your back press the actuator and headrest pops out.

On my 2011 Forte the headrests can be slid right out of the seat. If I cant find a good replacement that is farther back

KIA CEED ED proceed headrest

In the passed few weeks my driver side headrest has started behaving weird. If I push my body right into the seat the headrest pops out is that meant to happen or has something broke

this is a well known problem and should be fixed under warranty

I thought this was supposed to happen The headrest is just reacting to your body getting pushed into the seat if you were to have a smash it would reduce neck injuries. Mine pops out if I fidget with too much vigour bin my lower back into the seat and once it returns to its original position wont pop out if you try prying at it with your fingers - active headrests in action Id say

Quite normal nothing broken. Active headrest feature in case you get rear ended.

Thats all great news Dajones Excellent service and they sorted a few minor bits for you too. Mines in for service next Friday Ill point out the drivers seatheadrest thing.

that I would like. In Denmark its more like Is it really worth &16329000 -) (sport model...) And my answer will be yes it is. When looking for a new car I narrowed my choices down to three cars The HighPower CRDi pro_ceed a VW Golf 1.9 TDi and a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi. Golf has always been one of my favorites but its a bit more expensive especially if you want all the gadgets that the kia

KIA CEED ED Driver Seat Lumbar Support

After a 3 hour drive pulling into a car park my back was aching so I stretched it out against the back of the drivers seat when I heard a pop noise. I can only think that this was the lumber support bending back. The next day I got into the car and when I put weight on the back of the seat I experienced the same noise. Since then I have been careful not to lean back too hard and havent experienced

the headrest out. In a rear ender the car will accelerate faster than you ramming the seat activator bar into your backside. That pressure immediately transmits up the cable pushing the headrest forward before the whiplash effect up your spine causes your head to snap back where the headrest will have already come forward to meet it thus reducing the whiplash distance. There you are I think. kia

KIA SORENTO II XM Possible to remove Front Headrests on 2011 Sorento

So I bought some front seat covers that require you to temporarily remove the headrests so you can slip the covers over the top. I tried to remove the headrests but one of the bars that goes doen into the seat seems to have a cable or something attacted to it to prevent them from being pulled all the way out. Am I out of luck or is there a way to get them all the way out Thanks for your help...

httpwww.kia-forums.comkia-ceed-f...s-removal.html Check out post 8 for a diagram of the active head restraint system. I think it is similar for all of the kia models. I was looking to do similar but to install aftermarket headrests with dvd players. Decided I wont be going that route when we get our Sorento. Good Luck.
