Im gonna take a guess here from what I have noticed with our liberty. There are sensors in the seat that sense your position. When you are not there the comp. isnt worried about you. When you sit down the comp. says ok your here you need to put on your seatbelt or I wont deploy the airbag if we have an accident. Our liberty does that when my dog(German shepard) sits on the passenger seat. The seat
There is a bracket under your seats with wiring and a connector. I would look at that to repair it myself if I were you. If you are storing stuff under your seats or have unruly passengers jamming their feet under there it may have just become unplugged. I found the brackets to be a pain so I bent them up slightly for clearance.
is it the bucklepre-tensioner or the retractor what year make and model
Thanks for the reply - dealership just said seatbelt although below you may see a clue of what it may be. Anyways its an 04 liberty 3.7L. Driver and passenger side air bag lights on - out of the blue one day. After in the shop for hours they (dealership) said we know what it is - the seats. Need to recalibrate. Well wrong. They then told me its the seat belt - counted clicks and said only 48 vs the
Oh sooty forgot to mention they didnt charge anything (talked to Mgr about this and other issues bought car (used) only 5 months early for Daughter )- but now the part is in.
My 02 did the various light and chime thing when the corrosion on the negative battery cable got too bad. Id check the battery and cables first for the dashlight issues. KJs do all kinds of weird things if the charging system is not up to snuff. The rest I have no idea.
There is RRT on the 06 KJs to have clockspringssteering angle sensors replaced the dealer should have done it before you bought the jeep but like the dealership I work for we were selling them fast the we could get the parts in for them. The airbag system will still work with the light on. The other possablity is if your wife is like mine she is putting a heavy pocket book on the passengers front seat

That procedure works. I did it on mine. I hate electronic nannies. I know when my seatbelt is off and theres already a light on the instrument panel indicating so. I dont need an additional audible buzzer. (Not that I advocate driving without your belt its just a matter of principle.)
yea thanks for the help. and she does wear her seatbelt its just really annoying and i drove her jeep around the farm last jeep and it was beepin at me the whole time. but its not really neccecary off road
Oh come off it. This is a technical forum. He just asked how to deactivate the seatbelt chime not to get lectured on the merits of wearing a seatbelt. ( A procedure that is apparently so morally reprehensible that they decided to include it in the owners manual.)
everybody means well......no one is condoning not wearing a seatbelt or wants to see someone get hurt. Its just that sometimes you want to turn the jeep around in the driveway or something when you are working on it and dont want to hear the ding dong in the driveway.
I am getting this too but I always get the seatbelt light at the same time. It could be an issue with any part of the airbag system. AFAIK the only way to get a definitive diagnosis is to use a DRB-III scanner (not an OBD-II). Where I live that means a trip to the dealership. It might be as simple the clockspring inside the steering wheel having come slightly loose. Its worth pulling the steering wheel
Yep sounds like you shorted one of the seatbelt latch sensors(fronts only effect airbags).Time to spray them down with electrical contact cleaner and compressed airlet dry real well and try thatmight get lucky.

I dont need this BS blasting at me. Thanks there is a procedure to stop the chime but not the dash light -get in and close door -turn key to on but dont start -buckle and unbuckle seatbelt four times within 30 seconds -turn key off will hear a different chime i am not possitive i gave you the correct procedure i am going by memmory. i got it here a while ago. the chime drove me nuts when getting the mail and plowwing snow much better now. having the light still on does not bother me because i use the seat belt when on the road. i printed out the procedure but it is in the jeep witch is not here now. the post also said it was in the owners manual.
Let me know if this helps or if you still need more info. This circuit board is located behind the guages. A chime warning system is standard factory-installed equipment. The chime warning system uses an electromechanical transducer and an electromechanical relay that are soldered onto the electronic circuit board inside of the ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) (1) to provide audible indications
I couldn&8217t agree with you more.. The constant beeeeeeping when parking my car in the garage drove me NUTS I A L W A Y S wear my seatbelt when driving even when driving from one end of the parking lot to the other but when I maneuver in close quarters I need to be able to move around. So I allegedly knew a guy (whos name I forgot) who knew a guy who had this annoying thing reprogrammed by a dealer

My glow plug light is at about the 10 oclock position from the speedometer. In your picture it is just to the upper left of the seatbelt light.

He has a special one of a kind CRD with no glow plugs no electronics to run them and no CEL that would happen on every other CRD that did not have glow plugs.

The horn and cruise are OK but the volume control has recently gone weird on me in fact at around the time that the airbag light started coming on. We have to press the switch much harder than normal to get it to change volume and sometimes after youve given it a quick burst just to raise the volume a few notches it will turn it up to maximum by itself even though youve taken your finger off the switch
