INFINITI FX II 2010 FX35 AWD Poor automatic transmission performance

Ive put over 3000 miles on my new 2010 fx35 AWD since I bought it over a month ago and the most glaring frustrating and disappointing aspect of this high-priced vehicle Ive found so far is the miserable behavior and performance characteristics of its automatic transmission when operated in either the D [Drive] or SD [Sport Drive] modes. Now that I have your attention please note that I have spent a

ghost I have an 09 fx35 and the tranny is horrible even after having the reflash. The engine bogging down as he refered to has to be one of the most annoying things ive ever experienced driving a car. Ive had a lot of issues with my FX they only recently fixed my engine problem (car engine would shut off while driving). I am more than dissatisfied with my FX and this would probably be my last infiniti

Please dont try to twist my words here. I never said nor implied anything about a suspected conspiracy on the part of infiniti. (Indeed that would verge on being delusional unless perhaps we were talking about a new Toyota but I digress.) Rather what Im strongly suggesting is that as it currently stands with (at least) the 2010 fx35 AWD my hunch is that the 7-speed AT itself is probably mechanically

INFINITI FX I transmission problem on fx35

ive been looking to buy a 2004 fx35 75k but most mechanic friends are all telling me they have transmission problems and that once they go out ts gonna cost about 4000 for a used transmission Some of the mechanics are referring to the murano and Im aware they are totally different vehicles... However they are saing the G35 cars are also plagued with the same transmission problems as the fx35. The FX

No there are no inherent transmission problems on 1st gen FXs. As long as fluids have been changed routinely You shouldnt have a problem. Not to say there couldnt be a random failure as possible with any vehicle. If your mechanic is comparing it to a Murano id find another mechanic. The FX has a normal transmission. The Murano has a CVT. Two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things. Never heard of any G tranny issues either.

Consumer Reports rated reliability on the transmission on 2004 fx35 as Excellent. Pick up any CR auto buying guide (or subscribe to their website) to see for yourself. PM me if you want the whole reliability breakdown for the 2004. I geek out on the data.

If you do a search on this site for transmission problems or tranny problems you wont find very much... which means the FX does NOT have a lot of transmission problems...

Your mechanic friends need to do a little more research about the transmissions for infinitis. I have owned a 2004 fx35 2003 G35 and 2003 Nissan 350Z (with a manual transmission) and none of them have ever had any problems. Complaints about 1st gen FX transmission having problems are rare. (As soon as I post this Van posts this --- viewtopic.phpf2&t24672 . What are the odds)

INFINITI FX I Transmission fluid on 2006 FX35 88k miles

I drained the transmission fluid and replaced it at a nissan dealer in 092012. Last week i went for an oil change at the infiniti dealer and they tell me that my transmission fluid is dirty (i put 3000 miles since 092012). I go back to the nissan dealer and tell them what infiniti said. They said yes thats normal you need to drain it several times to get it clean and they recommended that i do it again. Is this normal

Nissan dealer kept telling me that on my model they cannot completely flush the transmission fluid they can only do the DAF which will drain half the fluid only. I guess i have to go do it at the infiniti dealer.

Shoot really Why am i paying the dealer to do this when I change my own oil I guess i am scared of screwing up the transmission more then the engine. The engine seems straight forward 5 QT in and I know there is oil in there. The transmission seems more mysterious...

The FSM has all the instructions

INFINITI FX II Does the 2011 FX35FX50 have transmission quirks

There are several people here that commented on the transmission of the 20102009 fx35FX50. I ended up purchasing an EX35 2010 that has the 5 speed so I would not have to contend with the 7 speed concerns. Im looking to get a 2011 FX50 myself (EX35 was for my girlfriend) but Im concerned that the transmission concerns will still be present that some complain about. Im asking if anyone drove the 2011

Thanks for the info on the 2011s. I did not drive the FX50 at all. Just the fx35. Ill make sure it has the power tail gate. Dave

This time around make sure you drive the 50... its only a theory of mine but Im guessing the 7-speed was initially designed for the power of the 50... they were still tweaking the transmission almost right up till release for the 35... and then of course the flash update afterwards so theyre probably STILL tweaking it...

As john-lee mentioned two posts up the 2011 FX doesnt seem to have any problems with the transmission (at least in his humble opinion).

if they think they still have the problems. If it is still there then I would end up buying another brand of vehicle. I could not put up with the transmission that I drove in the 2010 FX. Dave Hi all new to the forum and I just picked up my 2011 FX50 - (Touring and Premium Pkg.) yesterday on Long Island (NY). I traded in my 2009 Murano LE and couldnt be happier with the new car I drove both the fx35

INFINITI FX II 2009 FX35 Transmission Fluid How to check

I just bought a used 2009 fx35 with 10000 miles on it and Im changing fluids. I know I dont NEED to but I like changing transmission and differential fluids every 10000 miles. How does one check the automatic transmission fluid level I already stumped the guy at the local service department until went back and checked with his guys. They no longer have a dipstick It seems that the fluid is pumped into

Hey guys I just flushed the 7AT on my fx35AWD with Amsoil ATF and I also installed an inline magnefine AT oil filter as well. I already started a discussion on this topic at myg37.com here is the link httpwww.myg37.comforumsengine-d...n-service.html

INFINITI FX FX35 Transmission designation

Ayone know what the actual transmission designationmodel type is on the fx35 What other Nissan vehicles is it used on - Skyline

The tranny code is RE5R05A there are different sub codes per year and drivertrain. Fairly certain the manufacturer is Jatco. Other Nissan vehicles its used on 350Z G35 M35 M45 Q45 most likely as well Pretty sure the Titan and its other variants with a 5 speed auto have a version of this transmission as well.

INFINITI FX FX35 transmission question

Has anyone thought about or attempted to swap the standard automatic in the fx35 for the 6 speed from a G35.

It has been discussed. Basically anything can be done with enough money but it would likely be VERY expensive. Tranny swap is easy enough but the clutch and hydraulic componentry would mean major modifications and bc the FX was never designed to be a manual the console and underlying components would need major modifications as well. The manual trannys shifter is mounted driectly to the transmission so its also doubtful that it would line up correctly as far as position and height in repect to the FXs interior. ALSO this could obviously only even be considered on a RWD fx35 as there is no manual AWD G35 with a transfer case.

INFINITI FX II 09 FX35 Stalling After Transmission Re-flash

Hi all I took my 09 fx35 to the dealer Monday to perform the transmission re-flash to fix the harsh downshift (ITB-09-032). It seems to be down-shifting much better. However today when I turned on the AC I heard a clunking sound comming from the engine and then the engine shut off. This only happens when I turn on the AC. I can also smell burning rubber as if something is stuck in the belts or the

Never heard of this one before. But you are still under warranty so asking for solutions here is pointless. Take it back to infiniti and have them FIX it.

to me to bring them proof of oil changes. I had to argue that theres no way this can be because of sludge and they can open up the engine and Ill pay out of pocket if they find sludge. I told them that I read online that some people experience this type of problem after their battery died and they were able to fix it by resetting the throttle settings. Well he said the tech is going to call the infiniti

Got my FX back from the dealer. The service advisor admitted to me that I was right. It had nothing to do with sludge and they had to reprogram the ECU. But the tech thought the compressor was contributing to the problem so they replaced it anyways. Yeah right. My guess is that they were sure it was the compressor and had nothing to do with the ECU so went ahead and replaced it. But then the problem persisted and had no clue so they reflashed the ECU just in case. And that finally fixed it. I got a new compressor out of this for free. It kind of somewhat made up for all the aggravation and time wasted going and waiting at the dealership. The advisor wondered how come I know so much about cars... I told him I really dont know that much but I belong to an online user group called infinitiFX.org...

INFINITI FX I 05 FX35 Transmission performance

Hey all - as of last week I am new to the FX community (05 fx35 Touring Brilliant Silver) So far I love this vehicle I do have a quick question for everyone who knows the shifting characteristics of the the 1st gen. What is happening is if I am merging into highway traffic the vehicle will downshift as expected but when I get into traffic let off the gas and then gently step on it again it is still

Let me get this straight Youre saying that when you accelerate to merge onto a highway the transmission will downshift from lets say 4th to 3rd gear. When you get into traffic at crusing speed you let off the gas but the transmission doesnt quickly go back to 4th I guess that is the way mine works. But to be honest I usually use manual mode when accelerating quickly -- I hate the unpredicability of an auto transmission.

Remember the 35 motor likes to rev... much more than the V8 in your Lexus did. Most of us take our fx35s above 5000 rpm on a fairly regular basis. We do this because that is where you get the most performance out of this motor. With that in mind click on the following link and see if it helps you understand your situation better... My guess would be that your car is fine. httpwww.bchra.orgTipsTricksSele...queconvert.htm -Andy
