HONDA CIVIC VII &9658 01-05 Civic Cooling System Q&A (overheating fans inoperable etc.)

Given the rate at which we receive questions regarding the cooling system and its related components It Wasnt Me and I thought it would be best to sort of sum up the more common issues people experience. Overheating - Symptoms A . (Obvious) Temperature gauge showing an engine temperature that is beyond normal operating temperatures (above the half-way mark on the gauge is not good). B . Slow acceleration

Why honda why I just read through this thread and another one about the Civic overheating. My boyfriend has a 2002 Civic with 109k. The timing belt and water pump was changed at 90ish-k. It started to overheat is a strange way. Hes be on the highway for 45 minutes or so get off and the temperature would spike once he slowed down. It would be fine it town. Fine on the highway.... just when he got off.

HONDA ACCORD IV CB CC1 CB3 CB7 CB8 CB9 Problems on a 92 accord after fuel injector cleaner

I have 92 accord with an automatic transmission with 184183 miles. I changed my dirty carbon filled spark plugs with new ones and did an oil and oil filter change on Sunday night. On Monday I decided to try out a fuel injector cleaner because I felt that the car wasnt giving its full potential .It felt sluggish and bogging when I would step on it. Ive owned it for about a year and previous owner didnt

Also another problem has come up. My car overheats but it does not show it on my temperature needle . The needle stays between hot and cold. My fans starts and turn on. I was only able to tell that it overheats from all the steam that it pushes out thru the cap of the reservoir. My reservoir has water in it but the radiator doesnt suck it up. I had the radiator fixed about a year ago. Hope someone has some suggestions. Water pump

You see all that corrosion. Thats because youre using tap water in your cooling system instead of 5050 coolant like youre required to do. The likelyhood of you sustaining a crack somewhere in your engine magnifies significantly. Tap water has minerals whose sole job is to corrode and destroy engine components and cooling system components. Im thinking your water pump has corroded to the point where

Ive turned on the car after I installed the thermostat last night and fans have not kicked in. Only when I turned on the heat inside. And smoke started coming out the exhaust after about 25 min. Oil doesnt look milky

Not sure if there are any honda fans here but I was surprised the concept Coupe has 300 horses stock -- it will smoke even a 320 SLK unless MB gets its acts on more performance. I will be curious to see what the future accord Coupe performance like after it is modified. [urlhttpwww.edmunds.comnewsautoshowsarticles77827page009.html[url]

FORD FOCUS Impressions Focus ST vs. Golf R

Introduction . Hello to all. Ive been reading this forum for a while and this is my first post. I recently had a test drive in the ST and Id like to share that experience and get your feedback. To make things a bit more interesting I am comparing and contrasting the Ford Focus ST to the VW Golf R as I came close to buying a R early last year. By way of disclosure I have never owned a Ford or VW vehicle

TOYOTA YARIS Are rear red turn signals planned for Yaris as well

Hi Toyota started to become mean by saving couple of cents by changing rear turn signals from Yellow to Red. They first did the change in Sienna and from 2010 models the change came to Corolla and Camry as well apart from hondas Civic and accord after Odyssey. I am a strong opponent of red turn signals and consider them a hazard. I never have and will never buy a motor vehicle with red turn signals.

JEEP WRANGLER Huh TJ - LJ ... what do I have and what to do

I have aacquired a new (used) 2006 Wrangler Unlimited ... bought it with 8400 miles on it and its my first Jeep. I absolutely love it. I think I have the 2004-2006 LJ version of the 1997-2006 TJ Wrangler Unlimited. It seems about every website I go to confuses me more than the last. I think I finally figured this is what I have. PONTIAC GTO 2003 pontiac gto return

GM shocked Pontiac fans in late summer of 2003 when they announced the return of the GTO. The source was the Holden Monaro from Australia a car from down under that was well thought of by fans of high performance. It represented an excellent opportunity for GM as the car was already in production and additional development costs were minimal. Of immediate concern to GTO fans was the styling of their

PONTIAC FIREBIRD Powerloss with amp

Hey guys I recently hooked up two 12 Rockford Fosgate Punch&39s with a 1000 watt amp. It works fine for a few days then my battery goes completely dead...or so I think My friend takes my battery and puts it in his firebird and the dead battery starts his bird with ease.... I took the system out for now until I get answers... But also I put my electrical fan to a switch...and that also kills the battery... I NEED BASS....if anyone can help me with this problem it&39d be much appreciated&33

OK to answer the first problem that is oprginally posted here by capt. red bird. Your problem is that your amp is drawing power with the car turned off as stated above. The fans draining the battery is a matter of where you have the power and ground for the switch coming from. You should have the system wired into the remote turn on or the RED ignition wire on the back of your deck. Hopefully you aren&39t one of the guys who ran the remote turn on right to the power wire terminal on the amp. That keeps it on constantly. You should also have your fans on that same wire on the back of your deck. Getting a power cap is NOT going to help your problem at all. It will still have the same effect. The power capacitor stores power to run to the amp when a low note hits so that your other systems in your car will stay powered without interruption. Make sure your remote turn on wire is wired into either the bluewhite wire or the RED ignition wire on the back of your cassettecd player. Chris and frank. you want to use 1 farad per 750 watts not 1k. If you run a 1 farad cap on a 1k watt amp the cap will not be able to keep up with the amp. 96 running your system until you have the dimming problem soved will end up killing your alternator. Add capacitors accordingly to the system. Frank if you still have that capacitor and want to get it out of your hair hit me up and I will take it. I can use it on my Orion 2300 waitasec it doesn&39t like my electrical system in my honda.

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Mechanical Fan Exploded Is another one Justified

A few weeks ago the fan in my 530i decided to go BOOM. Luckily it was in my garage with the hood open. It destroyed the belt WP pulley radiator hose and radiator shroud. Surprisingly the radiator was untouched. I know I could easily replace these parts and install another mechanical fan but is that a smart move How can I justify installing another mechanical fan (small bomb) when they have potential

E60. Im sure it was not due to inability of the mechanical fan to cool the engine. Is it perhaps due to the potential for these fans to explode I am yet to hear of electric fan blades exploding. Actually the Fan and Reservoir should be stock BMW parts. Aftermarket parts are historically bad (search for horror stories). 2014.5 - 2015 TLX

Were seeing the first spy photos now and its looking more and more like a McPherson TLX based on the newest accord is going to take the place of both the TSX and TL. Its probably a good business decision but Im sure well be hearing from the double wishbone fans and the TSX fans.

Overall reliability of 2 or 3 decades old cars

Im going to ask a question here about the general durability and reliability of cars that are 2 or 3 decades old. First a bit of background. I bought my (second) C4 at the end of last May a 1992 convertible with just 9400 miles on it. In buying it I figured that because of the low miles it should drive like a new car and most mechanical moving metal wear parts (like piston rings water pump alternator)

it gives me a slightly different perspective than the C4 drivers who have been expressing their thoughts. Here are my opinions based on my experience. 1. Older cars and hotrods are not as reliable as boring new cars because car design and construction methods for new cars are simply better now than they were 30-40 years ago. You will not find an old car or hotrod that is as reliable as a new honda

BMW SERIES 3 F30 Wanted to upgrade to an F30 but not sure now...

Hi Everyone I own a E90 328i with sportspremium pkg and navigation. Last weekend I got a 328i F30 loaner (sport line) while my car was at the local BMW dealership for a power supply recall. I spent a day driving the F30 loaner and heres my take on it - Exterior 1) I liked the new hood design in the front but at times it looked sillyweird from some angles. But overall it is not as bad as I had thought

I drive car thats nearly identical to OP and I have to agree with OP on every point. New car grew in size to the point where its bigger than 5 series from decade ago. Lack of LEDs is bothering me as well. honda accord did the same thing few year ago they released one model year with rear-LED lighting and then switched back to incandescent. You would think that going to F30 from E90 is a sure thing

I found the back seat of the e90 too small. That has been remedied and without any weight gain to speak of. So more room more power and no weight gain. PONTIAC FIREBIRD II 1970 Firebird Formula engine

Hi first of all I&39d like to greet all the members it&39s my first post. beer I live in Italy and since I was a child I&39m in love with 2nd generation Firebirds. Don&39t ask me why because I don&39t know what I know is that it is so. I&39m finally buying my first Firebird a 1970 Formula 400 that&39s here in Europe. It&39s a non-matching numbers car. Now I don&39t care about the numbers not matching

and oil (no mayonnaise). Now some word about performance I drove it and well the car just doesn&39t go as I thought it should. I must say I&39m not used to auto transmission so maybe I had a wrong feeling but when I floored it (from 0 mph) nothing of what I did expect happened no strong push no smoking or screaming tires no rubber smell. The car accelerates quickly but nothing special. My 4cyl honda

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 most likely buying an E320

hi guys 1st time on this forum i have an 83 300sd and have found the w126 forum very helpful so i would like to throw something at u. im lookin at a 2001 e320(no 4matic) black wblack leather interior pristine condition no dings or dinks. the previous owner kept up with keeping the car serviced at every 10k miles and the catalytic converter was replaced at 74k miles. the car has 97k miles on it im told

Ill also bet youll be back here in less then a year with expensive horror stories. BTW just for fun take the car to another car dealer and act like you want to trade it in on a new or used Lexus or Infinitu. Even a honda

MAZDA 6 I GG GY The 6 and all the problems

1st let me say 1 thing keep the fact that mazda voided my warrenty out of this. Look in this forum and look at all the problems we have people getting trannys replaced due to 3rd gear grind. We have people now that cant get into 3rd gear we have people that have to get clutchs fixed. Also people having there 6 make funny sounds and brake problems and rotor issues.. Look at all the problems that people

go look at a honda forum the accords S2000s RSXs have all had problems too being that were all car fans we prolly notice stuff the average person wouldnt. While have my clutch replaced was not fun some of these issues have really tought me a ton about cars more than I knew when I bought it so I guess Ive gotten something outta all the hicups the 6 has had.

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 I finally get it.

I recently took Delivery of my 2009 335xi. I have to say I was hooked at the first drive of the 328 but I found the power of the 335 intoxicating I have always been more of an American Muscle kind of guy and have had 2 Corvettes (1999 2000) until I finally traded one in on the Bimmer. The handling power and torque are what really one me over in the end. It is amazing to have such a bundle comfortable

I sold my 66 Mustang w 289 HiPo when I bought the 335i. I havent missed it for a second. I have all the power but now also have refinement. The Mustang (Candyapple Red) would turn heads all day long where the BMW rarely gets a second glance except from honda accord fans who think Ive modded my Cord. The HVAC Ipod Bluetooth sunroof power adjustable seats Logic 7 6MT and maneuverability more than make up for the lack of second glances.

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 11th Digit of VIN Number

The 11th digit of the VIN number tells you at what plant the BMW is made. The codes are as follows A F G K - Munich (GER) B C D - Dingolfing (GER) E J - Regensberg (GER) L - Spartanburg (USA) N - Rosslyn (RSA) Does anyone know why the 3 German plants have multiple letters - for example what does it mean if a car made in Munich has an A designation rather than a K designation What designation is on the E90s made so far Is there a difference between the 325 and the 330 Thanks

Buried in the latest Consumer Reports reliability data is an interesting glimpse into OEM quality. BMWs variability was minimal. Even though their rank was not as high as one would like it it does show that their system is globally uniform. That sure makes it easier to move to the next level of continuous improvement. I confess to being as nuts as you guys on this. I obtained the data on hondas

PONTIAC SOLSTICE Name the reasons you decided to purchase the Solstice GXP

Personally I have always been fond of curves. I think it began in high school when I attended my first prom. Later in college and then grad school when I became even more interested in curves. It continues today. The curves are the primary reason that I purchased the GXP. I cant wait to see the curves on my GXP. Its a no brainer. I found myself at the local pontiac drooling over an 06 sly. I asked about pricing they said it goes to the highest bidder I walked out. Did some car research I fell in love with the looks of the Solstice reminded me of my old FieroGT but for me the power was not there. So...I got myself a chevy HHR. Not bad not great no power not me.
