FORD F150 spark plugs

We just received our new 4.6 2000 F-150 today. This engine has coil on plug ignition where the spark plugs are physically attached to the ignition coils. Can anyone suggest how one is supposed to change the spark plugs or is this no longer serviceable by the average guy - it looks to me as if the job consists of removing the fuel injectors and fuel injection rails removing a lot of other wiring and

my 97 4.6 Lariat. It has 72000 miles on it. I just recently installed a Powerdyne SC (fuel regulator in transit to CA for repair essentially no boost right now and very easy on the go-pedal) and a local friendmechanic advised changing both to which I said why it doesnt have 100000 miles yet. He chuckled and said if I had gone 72K without them I was doing better than the majority of F150 drivers. ford

FORD F150 Another 2003 5.4 Spark Plug Question

I spent much of the afternoon reading most of the 13 page 5.4 plug thread. I know 2003 was a transition year from bad heads to good heads. Im hoping I have the good ones. My questions are 1. I think early on in the the 13 page

FORD F150 Trying Spark plug change few questions

I have finally built up anough courage to tackle the spark plug change on my truck I own a 2005 F150 with the 5.4. I have ordered the lisle tool and waiting for that to arrive. I was going to pick up the plugs this week and just need some clarifaction on which plug to get. I see several numbers floating around here some use Motorcraft SP-507 and others use SP-515 I know 507 is plantium and 515 is double

film days but not after upgrading to digital. Marked difference in the optics between a Tamron and a Nikon on a DSLR IMO. Nikon optics only for me My favorite lens is the 28-200 zoom. Many of my peers use Canon and its pretty hard to knock them... Im just so familiar with Nikons. I went kicking and screaming from film to digital in about 2002 but the familiarity of the Nikon controls made the transition

FORD F150 Changed my Plugs Today

Well I was worried with all the hype of the 916 plugs breaking off in the heads and having to be surgically removed etc... I bought the OTC socket and removal kit etc in prep. So I wanted to get the Motorcraft multi piece plugs out ASAP and a one piece in. I have 2.5 years and 38k miles on my 5.4L. All eight plugs came out with ease. I was pleasantly surprised. I chose NGK Iridium stock replacements.

for a full understanding. That means we cant say just one thing about it and have that be all there is. Then add in repetition rate that as rpm goes up there is less and less time for some of these actions to complete until the time comes for the next advancment in the system to be used. This is why we are now at the COP stage. The old systems could not keep up with certain requirements. ford

FORD F150 Congrats to me (I hope LOL)

After 7 years and 180000 faithful miles I sold my 2000 XLT4.6 to a Mechanic friend (minus the heater core). I got off the plane from Chicago Thursday and into a 2007 F150 Super Crew Lariat with 33680 miles for 18900 (blue book 24895). I swapped the old air filter for a K&N. I am freaking amazed at the mileage 20.5mpg from Spring to Alvin Texas and I am sitting at 17.1 around town. Very stoked about

FORD F150 superchip question

When installing a chip is there anything that has to be done to the computer as far as reprograming it or is it as simple as just plugging it in and your done Plus my tranny is a dog shifting from 1st to 2nd will this chip make a big difference with this Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi bthornto Excellent questions The link that DuckHntr provided will give you a good idea of the installation process. The Superchip is a sealed module with a female data slot on the back of it that simply mates to the male connector on the back of the ford computer. So once you clean that connector you just plug the Superchip in put the computer back into the vehicle and go basically. With regards

FORD F150 P1000 code & Superchip1715

I use a Superchip 1715 and lately the P1000 code never goes away. Last time I changed my tune I put over 1000 miles on before I changed it again and right before I change my tunes I always check for codes ... WHat can be causeing this

Fanuc This is perfectly normal you will always get that P1000 code for a while any time you change tunes (including going back to stock) with any flash device - same thing happens if you just disconnect the battery. This is fords doing not the tuner causing the problem - that is assuming you do not have something wrong with the vehicle itself that is causing that. The P1000 code happens any time power

FORD F150 Doing your own tune-up on a V6

Ive read several posts where folks complain about how hard it is to get to the 4 and 8 plugs. But what about on the 4.2L V6 Can someone with experience on that engine give me an idea of whether its something youd want to do in your driveway (i.e. without a lift etc.) My truck is a 99 XL if that helps. Thanks

You will have no problems. Get yourself a good spark plug socket( preferably with a swivel ) and a couple of diffrent extentions. Take care not to tear the plug boots when you remove them.( give them a gentle twist first before you pull on them) Dont forget to gap the new plugs( the gaps can get distorted sometimes in transit or when the auto parts guy drops them on the floor) Have fun and dont forget the fuel filter....

FORD F150 Need exhaust. Recommendations

I need to replace the rusted muffler and tailpipe on my 97 5.4 Expy. Is there anything other than the stock exhaust that will give me a slightly better soundpower increase yet not give me a drone inside I had a Borla system on my 91 Cherokee and the drone inside made me want to jump out on the freeway. I can get a 3 pipe and Flo-Pro muffler for 150.00 installed locally. Anybody had any experience with that brand Thanks.

Hey Jeff Ya I like the Excursion I dont think Ill ever have spark plugs again. Its certainly different that the Expy but it was an easy transition to make once I made it. So far I only have new tires exhaust and gauges so Im ready for a programmermodule once I feel confident in one. The increase in power with a diesel is crazy stupid Ive already proved that I can light up the 2 rears by letting the

FORD F150 Fuel PumpHELP

Ok Ive got an issue with my 1997 F150 xlt 4.2 L V6. The check engine light came on some time ago but I was having no problems with the vehicle whatsover. Never do. Well two days ago after a routine oil change and the check engine light still being on the truck has begun running really sluggishly as if it wasnt getting enough fuel to accelerate or I had gotten some bad gas. The last time the check engine

filter and everything else in the engine checks out okay. Would this be signs of a bad fuel pump What are the signs of a fuel pump going bad Please let me know of any suggesstions ideas or info It shakes a little when accelerating and sounds & feels like its struggling to go. But only when accelerating. It starts just fine idles just fine and seems to accelerate okay at really low RPMs. Its the transition

FORD Oil overfill

I was checking the oil today like I do every couple weeks and when I pulled the dipstick the oil came up significantly past the max line as denoted by the crosshatch marks (it came up to the FoMoCo stamp). The truck had been sitting since last night (at least 16 hours). Three questions. 1. Did I see the wrong max line 2. I just had the oil changed about 2 weeks ago - the invoice says 6QTS on the top
