Get hold of a wiring diagram and check the voltage to the fuel pump relay. Likely causes are that the earth is shorted out (if its switched on the earth side) or that the relay has somehow stuck in the on position (replace). In either case the cylinders will be full of fuel -- if you start it itll go hydraulic -- so clear the cylinders with the plugs out (ideally with the TDC sensor plug pulled so theres no spark) before you try starting it.

sounds like the engine may have now hydrauliced mite be an idea to slowly remove the spark plugs to see if there anything left in the cylinders.

Cmon guys someone back me up. This bloke is having a laugh. Any half good garage will have a proper oil draining system often a metal barrel with a tall tundish to avoid spills (used under the car lift). Some suck the oil out of the sump. The same setup is ideal for draining a fuel filled sumpengine. They certainly wont admit to collecting gallons of petrol in a washing up bowl.

Who said gallons And -- note well -- neither the suckers (which are a foul idea labour saving but often leaving carp in the sump) or the tundish devices offer any safety benifits re. the petrol. They do offer a small environmental advantage re. oil spills. On a domestichobbyist level cat litter is pretty much ideal. Dont put it in landfill. Respect petrol but dont be overawed by it. There was a hint of a fire so I cranked it plenty and it eventually

I was jsut wondering how you guys got your knowledge. I was thinking of going to a scrappys and asking whether I can take a fiat apart thatd probably be best for me cos I dont want to kill my car just yet. But I dont have loads of time to get to a scrappys

Hi I am having fiat Linea 1.4 petrol 2010 run 55000 KM only. Its engine oil is getting exhauted very frequently. Every month I need to top up the engine oil. Can you please help on this.

FIAT BRAVA 182 bravo 1.6 engine petrol engine runs like diesel

Hi I bought a 2000 model 1.6 Bravo Sx In a reasonable condition. I had lots of problems with the engine sound runnig also exhoust leakage. But I still have some problems. Like 1) engine does not run smooth It runs like a diesel engine lots of sounds coming from the engine. Firts I tought that the sound came from the exhaust heat cover. I toke it sound was gone a little but it still make sound. And

Actually 1 month ago the idea came to me that I need to test the compression. But the service guy said that Do your car burn oil And I said no. So there is no need to test the compression he said. But I will check that right now And Also I have a top speed issue. I cannot do a 200-220 Kmh . Car is tearing apart to reach 200. It dies after 190kmh even on a blue sky-no wind day full throttle on highway downhill . But firts three gear acc. is very good. or I think so

It will be fine on unleaded petrol. I have no idea where that comment on exhaust manifolds or downpipes being affected by unleaded petrol comes from We have had only unleaded petrol in NZ since the early 90s. In my personal experience no fiat requires leaded petrol. The only practical problem with unleaded petrol is the variable amount of aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene benzene) that are put in to bring

FIAT 500 II Put petrol in my 1.3 diesel 500

Oh no After only getting my car back from the dealer today I have tonight put petrol into my diesel 500. (I have been driving a petrol courtersy car for the last two weeks and was on auto pilot). The AA towed me to the dealers and I await thir bad news tommorrow and their bill. Anyone any idea as to how this will affect the 1.3 multi jet engine and whether it will invalidate the warranty and affect

you have had the car taken to a dealer they will record the mis-fueling and are likely to use it as a reason to refuse any warranty claims to the fuel system and maybe the engine. It would have been better to have taken the car to a non-franchise garage to have the fuel drained. It would also have been better not to have used the AA to recover the car. I think they are still contracted to fiat

FIAT UNO II Help needed by non petrol head - car lurching

Please help as I have no knowledge of cars at all. My car has a FIRE engine with manual choke. Recently it started chugging when the engine had warmed up with no choke on and sometimes you could smell fuel. Yesterday it was lurching really badly like a kangaroo going up the road. I had been driving it for a short while so the engine was warm. It was a nightmare to start and then I just lurched all

something about it Have attached pic. Also just to advise you that the car has never started without pulling the choke out half way - I never pull it all the way out - and (if Im going further than work) I can push it in quite quickly but never all the way in. I have to leave it out just the tiniest bit or it stalls even when Ive had it adjusted. Attached Thumbnails   __________________ fiat

FIAT CINQUECENTO 170 Blue Haze Time for a new engine

Sei 899 75K on clock Symptoms are Oil leak at rocker box and minimal oil in air filter . Fitted new rocker gasket yesterday and there is no oil leak there now but having sorted external leak there is now blue smoke out of exhaust (by the bucket load when accelerating)also there is a bit more oil in the air filter box . Never had a problem with smoke before so is this a no hoper Any suggestions would be welcome Thanks

its cleaning effects are second to none IMO and its safe because it is an oil but you have to use it in the right way. like it says in the link DONT run derv under ANY load (apart from the fan cutting in) and a fast idle (around 1250rpm) DONT revrace the engine as it is too thin and you could end up doing serious damage to crank journals andor shells. sometimes flushing with derv isnt ideal

FIAT DOBLO 1.3jtd engine

Hi Ive been looking at the Doblo for a while now considering whether the chances of malfunctions are worth the evident strengths of the vehicle. I now notice that Doblos with the 1.3jtd engine are very reasonably priced from new which could sway my decision. Has anyone got a Doblo with this engine Id be a bit worried about being able to overtake on the motorway with five passengers and luggage - and maybe getting out into traffic from junctions. Advice would be welcome.

Hi Dobloanalyst Thanks for a full and considered reply. Yes I meant 1.3 multijet - stupid of me. A couple of points The design life of 160000 miles is interesting. My local fiat dealer says that there are plenty of fiat petrol FIRE engines about with that sort of mileage on them. Honest John of the Saturday Telegraph and www.honestjohn.com confirms this. Now my understanding is that diesel engines

FIAT CINQUECENTO 170 Cinquecento Engine Swap - 1.3 Multijet 90hp - Impossible Who knows Crazy

Hey people. This might be a question for the experts on engine swaps but I think that all info gathered could result in an amazing project. I havent found any thread about it neither a project already done with this engine and I have two fiat freaks friends over here just waiting for something crazy to do. With fuel prices theses days diesel engines are more and more common. Technology wise fiat has

though I know from speaking to a former owner of a GP 1.3 and reading what he has said about it on this very forum that it was an awful engine that was horrendously laggy with a painfully short power band and the fuel economy was nothing to write home about when using the power available to keep up with other traffic. Aaron to be fair the 1.3 MJ had proved to be a better engine in the smaller fiat

always thougth it drove really nice even at max load. Ive driven a Panda with the same engine and it was fast for its specs. This project could go two ways... either to have a Cento for daily drive a bit more forgiving in terms of brute force or it could just be a big gun for weekend fun... and still be fairly cheap to run when compared to a loaded petrol engine. I already searched for crashed fiats

FIAT UNO II Engine stops after a short drive restarts later

hello i have fiat uno 1985 when i turn it on in the morning it is normal for the first 5 minutes than it turn off i try to turn it on it dont so i push on the gas pedal several times it turn on i drive for 30 seconds and it turned off again i repeat the senario for 5 or 6 times and then my batterie dies i recharge my batterie and i come back the next day i turn it on and i drive for 5 minutes and its

to engine temperature (you said that temperature is normal). Does your Uno have a finned aluminium block on the side of the distributor That block (if you have it) is the amplifier for an electronic pickup (breakerless) inside the distributor. The block sometimes fails causing the engine to cut out after a short time then restart later when the electronics in the block cool down. It is a good idea

FIAT DUCATO which engine

i have a 1988 e reg fiat swift ducato and the turbo diesel engine has blown could anyone please tell me what engines will fit this van as i cant get a fiat engine anywhere thanks

and we had a 2 litre petrol - a thirsty joke Anyway a friend of mine wanted to fit a Citroen 2.1 turbo diesel engine and box from an XM. He reckoned he would have to make up engine mounts but wasnt worried. The bloke he was to get the engine had a better idea. He had an old rusty 89 Ducatto and we simply used its old 2.5 straight diesel and box. This bloke is in Cavan Ireland and he knows fiats
