FIAT IDEA I Idea for oil cooler

While fooling around under the truck and removing the engine. I had an idea with the engine oil cooler where the oil filter screws on. 2 heater hoses run to it from the lower radiator hose. 180 deg water pulling heat away from engine oil. idea is route the intercooler lines to circulate through the oil cooler with water that is same temp as outside air. It will be adding more heat to the intercooler

Engine temp. is taken from the coolant temp. not oil temp.Since i have the stock exchanger laying around i was now thinking of mounting it behind the JDM aftermarket one and getting another intercooler pump and it would now have its own sealed circulation system.

FIAT BRAVO anyone done a oil change yet

any one done a oil change on the 2.0l Mjet just want to know upfront how to get the bottom cover off and also where abouts the oil filter is and what colour it is to help locating it.. (usually there white could be black though) think im going to change the oil to either some castrol Edge fully syn 5w40 for turbo diesel engines or maybe just the halfords 5w40 fully syn alot cheaper and meets the same standards.. that selenia oil is stupid price..

me lol.. also that first link tells me that it is suitable for BMW WITH a DPF on the first two lines but then if you read down a bit it says its good for VW engines excluding DPF which doesnt make sense so by the sounds of it the 0W30 oil is the best as it meets all the requirements and also is low sulphur and ash content for exhaust systems.. Easy really- because that article was written when fiat

FIAT PUNTO OilTransmission Fluid leak

FIAT CINQUECENTO 170 98 Sei - Overheating Cooling System issues

I (foolishly...) bought a 98 sei sporting a few weeks ago as a non runner with a view to get it back on the road. Got it home and put a compression tester over the plug holes and its well under normal compression.

FIAT PUNTO OIL and problem.

Hey new to these forums so bare with me if i make a mistake so i got my fiat around 3 years ago. My problem is that i bought a 10w40 2l bottle but its mineral and im afraid to put it in before asking

- If you hear gurgles you have air in the cooling system meaning a leak has developed. Leave it gurgling and you will blow the head gasket. ALWAYS check the coolant and oil every week and more often if you have any work done. Head gaskets are not weak but low coolant will bow the gasket. Winter is coming. NOW would be a good time to flush the cooling system and fill it with new red antifreeze. ideally

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO dualogic Transmission oil change type

The hydraulic fluid for the Selespeed system on the Dualgoic gearbox is CS Speed. Obtainable from a local fiat or Alfa dealer The system will need connecting to the correct diagnostics equipment after the CS Speed fluid is changed to bleed the system. ideally left to a dealer or independent specialist. To be completely honest its probably best left isnt recommended for change in the handbook. The main gearbox fluid will be in your handbook.

FIAT PUNTO Engine Oil Gear Box Oil Fan Engine Coolant

Ok basicly guys i was goig to re put some new oil and gear box oil in my engine as its feeling abit sluggish and could do with some fresh oil... Was wondering how id do all 3 of these... Engine oil Gear Box oil Fan Engine Coolant Unsure Brake fluid also any way of getting it out and putting fresh in Also maybe put a fresh oil filter on and is this hard to do Thanks

The oil sump plug is on the back of the sump ...in an awkward spot. You need a sump plug remover or a 12mm hex socket (same thing really) they can be bought from ebay for a few quid. Let the oil drain out in a suitable container...like a bowl clean any crap from the thread of the sump plug and replace it. The oil filter just unscrews...thats easy enough. Get your new oil filter and oil ready. Run a small amount round the rubber on the filter then screw it into place. The engine oil is filled from the rubber cap located on the top of the rocker cover. Take off the air housing and you should see it. Not 100&37 sure how much oil the 16v takes...the 1.2 8v takes 3.8l...so itll either be 3.8l or 4.2l like the 1.6 sporting. Never done gearbox oil myself...so cant help with that 1. Engine coolant. The easiest way to drain this is to take the rad hose off and let it drain from there. Once its empty refit the hose and start filling the coolant tank near the rad. There are 2 bleed screws that you need to open up...these are to let air oput of the cooling system when you fill it. Once there is fluid coming from the bleed screws you can tighten them again and check that the level is below the max and above the min on the coolant tank. Brake fluid is bloody nasty stuff though...avoid getting it on ANYTHING painted...and preferably avoid getting it on your skin if you can....gloves are a good idea.

FIAT DUCATO Losing oil through crankcase breather.

Hello all. I bought a 20 year old motorhome which was losing oil through the breather at the front of the engine when travelling at 60mph. The previous owner had disconnected the breather pipe from the air filter and instead vented it off into a little home made catch tank. I presumed the engine was just a bit worn and had the motor factory re-conditioned. Now the re-cond engine is now in it runs fine

to the elements. I am 100% sure all my oil loss is through that breather. The breather pipe diameter is the standard size which fits on to the oil separator its about 30mm give or take.... I cant see how there could be some siphonic action going on there. I think oil is coming out in very small amounts until the engine is under strain overtaking hills etc. I am curious about your blocked exhaust idea.

FIAT MULTIPLA Will A Diesel Multipla Run On Vegetable Oil

Just bought 2007 1.9 JTD great car seriously thinking about converting to run on Vegetable oil. Anyone done this What problems if any What kit did you use Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Take a look at this site httpwww.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk...allentries.php This site shows a database of differnt cars which have run succesfully on Vegetabel oil. Unfortunatly there isnt the mention of a Multipla. The fact that it is a modern turbo diesel engine should not be a problem. Please see this site httpwww.biomotors.co.ukCarsVansD.html In which it shows that the Multipla would need a two tank system. Basically you fill up existing tank with Vegetable oil and have another tank with Diesel so when starting cold draw from diesel once engine has warmed up then vegetable oil is used. (lot more complicated than that but you get the general idea). So once again I ask anyone out there with some knowledgeexperience who could advise.

Ive also been losing coolant since it got serviced two months ago. The line on the bottle has gone from max to below minimum in that time. Is it ok to just top that up with some distilled water I took the car to the garage and the guy did a gas test on

I mainly do short journeys to be honest. Longest journey I do is about 15 miles. Its enough to get it up to temperature but not for too long. Can I just top up the coolant as you would with normal cars Ive heard that in the GP you have to flush the whole system out and re-fill it all In November I had a full service with spark plugs coolant oil & filters all done. No idea which brand of oil was used.

pressure washer car shampoo and PLENTY of patience. you need a non foaming detergent or ideally a solventengine cleaner but you need to be disposing of both properly. it doesnt really matter what you use to remove the oil as long as you fully rinse the system afterwards (and you dont use something that will eat rubber o-rings and hoses)

seen the countless threads on here of either one of those hoses splitting leading to fume or petrol smells inside the car what i would do is work out what sizes you need (inner hose diameter of both the crank case and inlet manifold breather) then mark where you want to fit them on the metal bit between the silicone pipes... and centre punch them Next find a industrial plumber gas pipe fitter ideally

FIAT IDEA I What is the idea behind a K&N Air Filter

Is it performance or protection It seems to me that a filter of the same size that increases air flow to the engine is letting in more small particles of dirt in exchange for increased air flow. Maybe I am from the old school but hosing off a filter with a garden hose and then spraying sticky material on it sounds kind of un-nerving.

Hi There Rick99 ... You should spend some time doing some research at httpwww.knfilters.comdefault.htm In fact everyone who owns a new vehicle should understand all the advantages that a non-restrictive air filtration system has to offer. 1. Surgical guaze impregnated with a sticky oil is pressed between two layers of fine screen wire not only provides the best known air filtration system for gas engines

both logics have merit. The best advice is to dive it daily anyway... Leaving a motor uncranked for more than a week will result in the oil film running off everything in the top of the motor. This is bad in two ways first when you do restart the engine you have dry metal on metal contact. Second if you live in a humid or rapidly temparture changing enviroment condensation will form on the cold dry

FIAT UNO II uno coolant system leak

Hi folks it appears the old uno is loosing water. It looks like the water is dripping down on the left hand side of the engine near the crankshaft pulley area once the system gets up to operating temperature. I cannot really see the source as the camshaft covers are on the left side of the engine. The head gasket was replaced in the last 18 months so I doubt that is the problem - anyone got any suggestions solutions for this uno issue Thanx

Do I have to replace the flywheel bolts or can I just re-use them with loctite. (They were not that tight unlike my VW flywheel bolts which you can only use once) 3 - How do you remove the bottom ball joints - use a ball joint splitter like the steering tie rods Unfortunately there both split and need replacing - I have not replaced this design before. 4 - Without the gearbox chapters I have no idea

FIAT BRAVA 182 ANyone got any ideas... -(((

Hi all After spending a while getting my girllfriends Barvo 1.4 S going again it has finally broken down and wont start up properly. When I try and start it there is a horrible screeching (metal on metal) sound coming from the engine itself. I havve also found that I cannot remove the oil dipstick - its almost as if its wrapped in the engine. Is this possible If so what damage will it have done How has it happened Is it dead or fixable Thanks Drammy

a 1.4 that cut out during use now the dipstick is stuck and it is screeching when cranked all points to one thing in my mind- overheating damage. could be from the usual oil circulation problem you get on the 1.4 or from low oil or from a cooling system fault etc. what was the temp gauge saying when it broke down.

FIAT PUNTO white stuff in oil cap

right well when i bought my car he drove it here must of been half hour-hours drive and it was fine no white stuff in the cap when i was cleaning the engine next day. still none after starting it revving it etc but checked a while ago and white stuff was a little worried but my uncle said i bet youve been starting it and revving it from cold and not letting it warm up and i was thinking yep... lol

tell me youve killed the head gasket without even driving the poor thing... Start it from cold with the coolant cap removed (MUST BE COLD unless you want a face full or boiling water) let it tick over and watch for small bubblesfizzing in the coolant - if this happens congratulations youve got a blown HG. Get someone with a driving licence to drive the car around for 10-15 mins till its warm (ideally
