Answers and questions: fiat doblo pump filter

Word of warning try to avoid the filter with a chimney on top which looks to be blanked off by a black plastic plug. The theory doing the rounds is that any water in the fuel will expand in the cold weather (when it freezes) forcing the plastic bung out this will result in fuel being pumped out of the top of the filter There was a thread showing this somewhere on here. edit.. here you go... httpwww.fiatforum.comdoblo22334...el-filter.html

work changing diesel filter

Ive no idea on the dobby but had a similar experience with an oil burner a few years back. turns out it had 2 pumps an electric pump to ensure the filter was full - so ran for a short while when the ignition is turned on then another pump which ran while the engine was running (mechanically operated off the cam ). After many thousands of miles and a lack of service from the previous owner the lack

FIAT DOBLO Doblo Fuel Filter

This may sound a stupid question but does anyone know if thers a fuel filter in the doblo multijet The guy at the motor factors said there may not be one fitted

Its a good idea to prefill your new fuel filter with diesel first this saves introducing air into the fuel system and airlocking it up. You need a little diesel first so Pull the fuel return line off the old filter this is the pipe FROM the injectors that returns the spill off back to the filter (usually a narrower pipe than the other two) httpi265.photobucket.comalbumsi...20changeC.jpg Bung up the

FIAT DOBLO fuel pump

I have this blooin doblo 1.9 non turbo its a sx model its a bit of a gutless thing been digging around took the sender out the tank expecting to find an electric pump at the bottom of the unit however I just found a filter the plug connector has four wires as if it should have something else I keep reading about fuel pumps in tanks my question is should my dobby have an electric fuel pump in the tank or am I relying on the injector pump pulling fuel through hope this makes sense

FIAT DOBLO Power Steering Pump-help.........

Hi guys Just done the cambelt & tensioners on my 2003 1.9JTD no problem but did have some vibration on tickover prior to renewing the belt and was hoping this would cure it but have now discovered a lot of end play on the power steering pump pulley meaning it moves in and out when rotating and appears to be the cause of the vibration. My man who fitted the belt cant see an obvious way of removing the

FIAT DOBLO Fuel Filter Replacement

Hi again i have a question i would never have thought i would be asking...but it seems the process is a lot different than the Fiorino... How do i change the filter on a doblo Not only does it appear that there is 3 inputs into the filter but ive heard reports that i have to remove fuel pump fuses and fill the new filter with diesel to avoid knackering injectors Cant i just undo the 3 inputs and replace

removing bolts to the bulkhead remove the engine cover to make access easier and put plenty of rags and a tub underneath and unscrew but its a bit messy. as for refilling just turned the ign on and the fuel pump filled it back up and started first time no worries maybe i have done it wrong but i had never heard of the fuse removal process so i eagerly await ppls opinions on this but i doubt that fiat

The 3 pipes on top of the filter are one inlet to supply fuel from the lift pump in the tank one outlet to supply fuel to the injection pump on the engine and one return pipe that returns excess fuel to the tank. Circulating fuel back to the tank also has the effect of cooling it for greater efficiency. You dont need to remove any fuses. That was just to relieve the pressure in some constant high pressure

FIAT DOBLO Drain condensate from fuel filter

We have recently purchased a doblo and need some help. Can anybody tell us how drain condensate from fuel filter. We have been unable to find a manual for this mpv can anyone suggest where to purchase a good one. Look forward to any replies. Many thanks Derek doblo

on the punto jtd filter theres a drain hole in the bottom you have yo remove the sensor lead 1st then unscrew the plug make sure you prime the fuel system before starting the engine this is done by turning the key an waiting for the fuel pump to stop do this a couple of times

FIAT DOBLO Doblo Engine Stalling

Hi again guys. As you may remember from my last post i collected my doblo van last week. Had a few problems with it already but sorted most. It wouldnt start yesterday but was fixed with a new battery and glow plug and seemed to be running fine today. When driving home the engine management light came on after stopping and restarting it went off and seemed fine again. Later on whilst slowing down for

bypass the filter and fuel tank by putting both the suction and return fuel pipes into a 5 litre can of diesel and run the engine. Secure the 5 litre fuel can under the bonnet and take the car for a short spin. If it performs well you have at least proved the pump is ok and you can start looking for an alternative (and less costly) fix. Do not be conned into an injector pump replacement by any fiat

Big thanks for the helpful reply Right heres what ive figured... with a clear tube connected from the filter to the fuel pump inlet im getting small bubbles. So then connected a clear tube onto the fuel filter inlet and put the other end in a can of diesel. The diesel only goes to the fuel pump (from the tank) at higher revs which i thought was strange. So i took the pipe out of the tank and put my

can cause total engine cut out andor non tickover. I had a valve go so bad that it caused the injector pump to over pressure the return line up to the filter and blow the injector leak off Tpiece. Lucas pumps have the injector leak off Tee on the return line and Bosch pumps have the leak off plumbed into the suction side. After two filter or valve related failures in 4 months I lost faith in the fiat

The Lucas Epic pump is much maligned and whilst it certainly aint the best injector pump for alternative fuels it maybe not as black as its painted. Before spending shed loads of money I would eliminate the possibility that its not just simply air in the system by changing out the suction and return fuel pipes for clear plastic after the fuel filter. I was recently advised by my local fiat specialist

FIAT DOBLO Fiat Doblo problem

Ive got a 52 plate 1.9 deisel fiat doblo to work on next week & wondered if anyone has had this problem before & what they did to fix it Never worked on a doblo before from what the guy tells me it doesnt start properly - he has to bleed the injectors each time in order to get it going any ideas what it might be checked the fuel filter for leaking doesnt have any leaks - hes changed the pump connected to the fuel filter & leak off pipes on the injectors thanks

FIAT DOBLO Loss of power on Doblo

Hi I have a fiat doblo 2004 1.8 diesel car. It has suddenly developed a problem. I am finding that it is loosing power in all gears. FIAT DOBLO Engine Management Warning Light-engine loss of powercutout

Hi Im a newbie to this great site and hope you can help. I have a 2003 doblo Cargo which usually runs fine. About 2 months ago the engine management warning light started to come on when approaching a roundabout (when slowing down) engine would then stall. Restarted engine and ran fine. EMWL would sometimes come on when driving (with no change to steeringrunning) but stopping and restarting the engine

the engine would make it go off. At the time this was an intermittent problem but now occurs at every roundabouttraffic lights unless and approach very slowly. More recently EMWL comes on when driving van loses power (even on pressing the accelorator harder) and then van stalls. Restart engine and van continues on with no warning lights on. FIAT DOBLO Engine cut out

Hi Got a puzzle for any experts out there. I drive a doblo Cargo 1.9D. 68500m. 04 reg. The problem is that the engine keeps cutting out when its up to temperature. It mostly does it when the engine is ideling or when I take my foot of the accelerator. The revs are not steady its revs up a little on its own then cuts out. Its a company vehicle so they took it to a fiat garage who checked the codes etc

FIAT DOBLO From Fiorino to Doblo

So now i am the proud owner of a 2002 51plated doblo SX and i have a question which im sure has been done to DEATH but better safe than sorry i reckon. Its

FIAT DOBLO Doblo fuel repriming

Hi Guys I ran out of diesel doblo 2001 1.9 Cargo. Topped up with 2 gallons but cant get engine to stsrt. i tried turning on ignition one click for a few minute but that didnt work. is there any way to manual reprime the fuel system. Colm

Always a good idea to fill the filter & let some fuel find its way back along the lines. OH has a Meriva - 4 yo and now on its second fuel pump. The idiots at the garage changed the filter but didnt prime it. Instead they turned the engine & relied on the pump sucking fuel. Trouble is such fine tolerences in the pump couldnt cope without the lube from the fuel so ending up with swarf in the tank. This

1st - Probably drawing air into the diesel fuel system. Put a length of 6mm clear plastic pipe between the outlet of the diesel fuel filter to the inlet of the injector pump and watch for the tell tale bubbles. The 1.9D diesel injector pump has to draw the fuel from the tank as there is no in-tank fuel pump and it really tests the integrity of the fuel lines and by the way the fiat fuel filter is prone

FIAT DOBLO Poor old dobbin

06 plate 1.9 JTD Well it just had to happen come away on holiday & she decided to break down Ive been running her on a blend of Waste veg oil (wvo) and BP ultra since she was 1 yr old - with no ill effects - 10% through the winter up to 50% during the summer months. Saturday I added 20 litres and drove to the garage to fill to the brim with dino. Drove 250 miles (A40M6 was all pretty good going mostly

Ive just got my poor old doblo back from the graveyard - had to have a new fuel pump & new injectors new filter & a complete clean out of the fuel system. Not a cheap job However I have been running mine on waste veg oil for the past 5 years up to 50% blend in the warmer months & down to 10% through the winter. The engine has never missed a beat always started first time - even in the depths of winter

the same properties as its feedstock. It has lower viscosity has a lower cloud and gel point. It does not eat fuel pumps or injectors unless they are constructed with rubber not neoprene components. Any reputable BD supplier will filter and pH balance his product. In my experience it is entirely safe to run modern engines on 100% BD. FIAT DOBLO Help help help

hi all i am at the end of my tether please help my 2001 fiat doblo van 70000 miles have only had it three months with no problems at all. i came home from work one evening parked the van up with no noises smoke at all came to start it the next morning turned ova started and then just cut out n keeps doing the same had it on the diagnostics n nuthings coming up had the fuel lines bled and a new fuel filtter and still the same please help

I dont know the doblo well at the moment so someone might correct some of this but that engine will not have any complicated electronics. It also sounds like a fuelair problem rather than ignition circuit if it runs with the throttle open. Make sure the aircleaner and and intake side of think is clear maybe remove the pipe from behind the aircleaner to make sure and try running it again. After this

FIAT DOBLO no power at fuel sender unit in tank on 1.9d doblo

hi i have a doblo 1.9d.i noticed lately that the engine seems to dying at idle when at stand still so i decided to pull pipes off fuel filter and noticed that there was no fuel in the filter.i checked the tank sender unit in the back of the van for 12v and there was no power with ignition on and when cranking.Does any body know were fuse is or even the power relays for the fuel sender unit.i seems the wires from the unit go into the internal fuse box under the steering wheel

The 1.9 D (non turbo ) does not have a fuel pump in the tank the injector pump supplies fuel to the injectors but also draws fuel from the tank. If the vehicle will not tick over it could be a fuel filter issue but you can prove this by taking the suction and return lines off the filter and putting them into a 5 ltr can of clean fuel - then just run the engine. The Lucas injection pump does not like

FIAT DOBLO My italian 2 seater wont tick over and she revs as and when she feels like it

Hi folks. I desperately hope somebody can help me out after handing over a shed load of money to my local dealer my 2002 1.9d doblo stil isnt running properly. She starts fine every time but often stalls straight away this seems to make no difference if the engine is hot or cold the EML is often displayed just before this happens while driving I can also feel the revs going up and down of their own

I had similar problem with my 01 1.9 doblo. After the garage trying the fuel filters and housing came to the conclusion it was the fuel pump. Air or dirt is getting in the way of the correct mixture the pump tries to compensate (revving up eml coming on) cant compensate and cuts out. Made for interesting driving on roundabouts. My diesel specialist cleaned the actuators from the pump and it seems

FIAT DOBLO modern diesels too complicated

Hi All Am very interested in the doblo. However I came across a couple of threads at www.honestjohn.co.uk about how the complexity of modern diesels is such that owners should be prepared for very big bills if something goes badly wrong. A couple of guys wrote in to say that they were switching back to petrol engines. The moden diesel electronic controls seemed to be the main trouble. Now I like diesels

The electronics are nothing to worry about when comparing against a petrol. Both have systems controlling fuel delivery and timing (obviously diesel timing is controlled through injection rather than ignition timing). The big bills relate to failures on the fuel system. The common rail system was developed between fiat and Bosch to achieve the Euro 3 emmissions a few years back. One of the key improvements

FIAT DOBLO Main Dealer Service

Hi My 03 1.9 JTD went for its 72000 mile service yesterday at local main dealer. I wasnt impressed. Lots of personnel changes since the last service and didnt do some little niggly jobs I asked them to do. Anyway my main point. They didnt change the fuel filter. Should this be changed at every service Also it is on a 12000 mile interval service but should I be getting the oil and filter changed every

Welcome to the world of fiat main dealers customer care. If your JTD is the same as Mrs_Gs then the fuel filter should be changed at every service. To not do so would be false economy - if an old filter let some dirt through the cost to repair the high pressure fuel pump and injectors would wipeout any savings made skimping on the cost of a fuel filter many many times over. I suspect that your dealer
