If you want a good air-condition try the one in a new VW Golf. I had a VW R32 and the air-conditioning on that was amazing. The air-conditioning system in my current E46 330i and E87 130i leaves a lot to be desired compared to what was in the VW R32S. I know that in Japan they sell little cans of air-conditioning Freont which is supposed to be a conditioner for the system and supposed to make it colder.

European cars they typically have one of the worst air conditioning systems out of most other vehicles. Why is this Have a think about the climate. For the same logic that German cars tend to have very good high-speed stability French cars ride so well and why small British sports cars corner well and - current breed apart - arent so hot in a straight line (we dont have many). BMW SERIES 5 E39 Air conditioning problem

This weekend I had a weird air conditioning malfunction. I was driving around mostly with my windows down and the climate control off. I also had my music pretty loud (I have a 4-channel amp driving components and a sub). Then when I picked up my girlfriend for her comfort I turned the volume down put up all the windows and turned the ac on but no air was coming through the vents I had to put down

AC to work. With the climate control off and the radio off I turned off my car. Then I turned on my car (the climate control didnt automatically turn on which it usually does). Then I turned on the AC and now it did work. Then I turned on the music and turned up the volume to make sure it would still work and it did without turning off - the reason I did this was because I read somewhere that bmws

My local bmw dealer advertised a special 99 and they will test top-up and report on the air conditioning system in any bmw. I figured this was a good chance to get an expert () opinion on why the AC was blowing cold on the LH side and mediocre on the RH side. Being the middle of a particularly hot summer this was a bit of a pain. So in the car went and I got the report back. Now I know these types

My friend told me the air conditioning system or Freon will go bad if I dont use the air enough when it is hot He said I need to turn the air on every now and then so as to keep the air conditioning in good condition. Is that true Because I wont get that good gas mileage when I use air. Right now one tank of gas can last up to 450 miles which is considered pretty good mileage. Please advice

BMW SERIES 5 E39 E39 Air conditioning not blowing cold

I believe I have have a self-inflicted air conditioning issue. I noticed my air conditioner was only blowing warm air today when taking a ride for lunch. I set the temp on both passenger and drivers side to 60 degrees and only warm air with the fan on full blast. Usually its very cold only on the first three or four lowest fan setting. The center vent dial is set to three blue dots. The light on my

Hello All Hoping you guys can enlighten me on this. I have a F30 335i and am trying to figure out the Climate controls. I have read the manual. There is also the matter that the vents have a temperature control of sorts. If I turn

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Recurring Air Conditioning problem

Tomorrow I am taking my 2009 E90 328i in for the third time in 6 weeks for the same air conditioning problem. It blows cool not cold and cannot keep up with the external temperatures. I know I am in AZ but loaners I have used on the 2 previous occasions blow nice chilly air and in any case my wifes Volvo and my previous Audi had no problems with blowing cold even in 115F. Good luck It took two dealers 5 tries to finally fix my 328i air conditioning. Each time they found a new leak. I actually think what was happening was each time they found a leak they stopped looking. I remember one leak was an o ring. Another was a port close to the evaporator. Another was when they didnt get things put together right. I hate having dealer repairs because you never no what they might

Perhaps it took a while for the coolant to settle in the right parts of the system but now the vents are pushing really cold air which exceeds my expectations. Very pleased. I was told the mechanic working on my car has a lot of experience doing evaporator replacements on 3-series and sure enough there doesnt seem to be any damage or rattles and every switch and knob works. BMW SERIES 5 E39 Problems with air conditioning

All My 2001 525i Sport Package has one fault at the moment. The automatic air button for the face (middle button) air position only blows cold air when I adjust the temp upwards. My wife gets very unhappy about this. The Bentley shop manual shows that the heated air should also come from the center face button. There is a dedicated stepper motor (6 stepper motors in all) that controls the air temp

I learned the following from a very knowledgeable fellow in another bmw forum Climate control is affected by the outside temp reading. If the sensor is not functioning properly it can affect (aoming other things) the climate control functions. There is much confusion about how to set the temp setting and the use of the blending dial in the centre dash vent. You should set the temp setting to what you

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Air conditioning question

So I have a question. Maybe not an ac question specifically but heres the deal. For some reason when its cool or cold outside and I turn the air off and try to let the outside air in I cant. Even when its in the 50s or 60s I cant seem to get the cold outside air into the car. The air is warm and I wind up getting hot and forced to run the air conditioning despite the beautiful weather outside. Ive

BMW SERIES 3 E36 Air Conditioning Compressor Noise When Weather is Cold

The air conditioning on my 95 318i works great during the hot summer here in Texas. With the coming of colder weather the compressor makes a whining noise. The system works providing warm air as required. The noise is the problem. I am sure that it indicates a problem that is brought on by the cold outside air effects on the condenser or some other similar problem. Maybe it is the compressor. This

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Possible Air Conditioning Problem

...But perhaps more so with the blowerfan. I have a strange issue on my 08 335i sedan. I will have the air on. Temp set to 71 degrees. Not Automatic. 4 or 5 bars on the fan speed indicator. The problem is that because air has to be diverted to those top vents the volume of air remaining is less. BMW SERIES 3 F30 air conditioning question

I have a 2014 328i. I set the climate control to auto with the AC on. Normally in my old car Id set it to about 71 and everything would be great. With my F30 however initially Ill get cold air when set to 71 for a bit but then while the car is still quite warm it will start blowing warmish air. The car definitely isnt 71 yet. If I lower the temperature to about 64 or so it will blow enough cold air

That dial helps separate the hot air from the cold. When their heat mixed into the airflow it allows you to control the eye level air mixture. For instance when the system is sending warm air into the cabin you can direct only cold air to your face. BMW SERIES 5 E39 air conditioning smell

Lately about 3-5 minutes after I turn off the air-con I get this really rank smell that comes out of the air vents. If I turn the AC back on the smell goes away but then will come right back when I turn it off. The smell only lasts a couple of minutes itself before fresh smelling air starts coming through the vents but its damned annoying for those couple of minutes. Any ideas

its caused by condensation in the system. the smell is mold but not the bad kind thankfully. even during the winter months you need to run the system on at least a weekly basis to help not have this happen. i say help cause there isnt really a way of it not happening. condensation is gonna always be a part of air conditioning...

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 Air Conditioning Slow Start

If this has been discussed my apologies for my bad search skill. I found my 08 528xis air conditioning has a slow start issue. The first time it happened was a few months ago. When I start the car in the garage the AC wont be cold for a few minutes. It is longer than usual meaning my other cars (like 10 years old) will generate cold air a few minutes faster. I was thinking maybe I didnt turn the air

system is blowing hot air into the footwell and on the dash even when it is 95 degrees outside and I have AC on and blowing cold air out of central vents. It seems to be related to the solar sensors on the windshield. When it gets dark outside like cloudy the heat kicks in. Same around dusk as daylight fades I get the hot air on my feet and via the top dash vents. So far nobody has any input. bmw

BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 Air Conditioning on 08 535i

I tried the lowest temp ( 64 degree ) and still does not feel like is cold enough. I wonder if the exterior color has anything to do with it This is my first black car....

The 5 series HVAC system is a piece of crud airflow wise. So push the Auto button and make sure the mode is set to intense then use the idrove knob to turn the little guy on the screen blue-er. Also the airflow to the back is REALLY poor. We have to close our front vents 50% to get decent airflow balance to the rear.

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 335i vs 335is Air Conditioning

I am looking at getting a convertible 335i and have been test driving a few used ones. The biggest issue Ive had has been that the air conditioning has seemed a bit weak on the 2010 and 2011 models. BMW SERIES 5 E39 musky air conditioning smell

My 530 has a musky AC smell. Is there anything that can get rid of that smell

The cabin filters have activated charcoal in them to absorb odors. You cannot clean them other than to vacuum the particulates caught in the outer filter material. The activated charcoal once fully saturated with odors is worthless and must be replaced. bmw recommends replacing at least every two years or 15k miles. I would recommend yearly replacement on a daily driver. While you are replacing them

BMW SERIES 3 E46 Does air-conditioning need regas

My bmw 318i is 14 years old with 150000 kms. At the moment the left-side get half-cold air and the right-side get warm air due to low ac pressure. I guess the ac gas will eventually evaporate or leak even without any damage to the hose or ac condensor and the gas pressure gets low over the period of time (14 years here). Or is there gas leak somewhere. Because the ac system should be completely sealed

yeah i would check that valve...easy to replace and its actually a fairly common item to go....more cheap cooling system parts from bmw. When it fails coolant gets into the rubber bootgasket into the solenoid and cooks the electrical bits. it fails open causing hot coolant to continuously flow to the heater core so heat is always on. Is that the case does it blow hot air even without the AC on just the fan
