AUDI Q5 8R New Fuel filler

audi has developed a new fuel filler cap to stop owners accidently filling their diesel models with petrol. audi A4 A5 and Q5 TDI models for the 2011 model year will be the first to benefit from the new system. The fuel filler neck has been redesigned to incorporate contact points that open an internal fuel flap only when the larger diesel pump nozzle applies pressure on them. The smaller diameter

My 3.0 TDI was delivered last week (2011 spec) and I believe it has one fitted. The fuel pipe sort of slots in to the fuel inlet. You have to push it in and like you say you can feel the contact around the fuel pump. Its a snug fit such that you could actually let go of the pump and it would remain in place. My 1st diesel so wasn&39t sure whether they were all like this or in fact it was for the above

AUDI Q5 8R 2012 facelift fuel consumpton

Can anyone tell me what fuel consumption they are getting in their diesel 2.0 or 3.0 for post 2012 facelift models. Thanks

I had a 3litre Q5 for a month when my AdBlue pump was being fixed and was particularly interested in the fuel consumption. I did a Bristol - Cambridge - Bristol (380 miles) run in both cars and kept at the motorway speed limit and returned exactly the same figures - 44.1mpg. The 3 litre had 12k miles on it though compared to around 4k on the 2 litre so I guess it had bedded in a bit more. Overall though

AUDI Q5 8R Premium diesel fuels

What are the members views on the advantages of premium priced diesel fuels such as BP Ultimate. Waste of money or noticeable benefits

Stay away from supermarket pumps and you will gain some pumps and fuel agents will supply a % of bio diesel so be ware this can be up to 10% super fuels well you pay the money and take the chance BP in our area is not busy as the price is 2P per litter on standard fuels.

AUDI Q5 8R Diesel mis-fueling

Has anyone tried any of the Diesel Mis-fuel prevention gadgets on the Q5 About to change from two petrol cars to one of each and scared one of us will fill the Q5 up with unleaded

The best one available is simply to look and remember its the BLACK pump really not hard after a few fills it will be second nature.

Not necessarily true - I filled my A3 2.0 TDi with petrol (after owning it for 2 years) when the garage owners had replaced a broken pump handle with a black one - 34 mile down the road splutter stop RAC garage 140 home 3.5 hours late - what a pain in the rear end

AUDI A3 2.0 TDI pump noise

Hey All I drive an 05 A3 2.0 TDI manual. Ive had it since new (picked up 01 April 05 which probably explains the reliability - see below) and already put 160 000 km on it. It recently started making a vibration noise approximately 5 seconds after switching off the engine. The noise lasts about 3 seconds and starts loud getting gradually softer. Ive checked under the hood - the noise appears to be coming

Hope you get away with just the drain out and no pump or other damage. Worth thinking about fitting one of the mis-fuelling devices. They are not totally fool proof - if a garage fits an incorrect black diesel nozzle to a un-leaded pump - but do reduce the chance of a mishap. I still have to double check when am am fuelling my diesel Q5 even with a mis-fueling device fitted having had petrol cars for 30 years and now one of each.

AUDI Q5 8R Some initial thoughts on my Q5

After a wait of seven months I finally picked up my Q5 two weeks ago. It&39s a manual 2.0 TSFI SE model with several options added. Here are a few thoughts on the car having covered just under 1000 miles so far. LIKES Ride and handling are excellent (standard 18 wheels fitted). Power delivery very smooth coupled with an excellent manual box. Bang and Olufsen upgrade was definately worth it with superb

AUDI Q5 8R First road trip

As I mentioned in the new member intro forum I was off last week for an introductory road trip with my newly acquired 2010 Q5. This would be a quantum shift from my former vehicle a Chevrolet Tahoe. I was prepared to start comparing the Q5 with my wifes CTS our other road-car. First thing that I noticed was that I had overestimated the size of the trunk area in the Q5 when the privacy lid is in place.

AUDI Q5 8R Running out of diesel

I know that this may have been discussedcovered elsewhere. I had a good chat with one of the senior technicians at the audi garage today and the topic of running out of diesel came up. I said that i had read somewhere that whatever you do dont run out as it can be a back to garage job to get it going again after refuelling. He said that they have run loads of q5 cars out of fuel and you just fill them

I think that this will be correct. Never ran dry in a diesel audi for fear of repeating the embarrassment suffered when I ran out of Diesel in a Land Rover Discovery 17 or 18 years ago. It was my first diesel and did not know that one had to manually prime the diesel pump to bring fuel through from the tank after running dry. Local garage guy turned out 9pm and did the needful pumping under the bonnet

Id say its 5050 - there is a prime procedure available via VCDS which you are supposed to do 3 times if you run it dry (although I think really 3 times is only really needed if you did work on the fuel system which meant the lines were completely drained for some reason...). So if you were unlucky and the lines were completely dry from you running out of fuel it may require manual priming. When you

AUDI Q5 8R Tuning boxes v remaps

I know similar threads have been discussed but Im interested in forum thoughts. 1. As far as I can see a remap on the 3.0tdi needs to have the ecu removed. Im not keen on this option. 2. There seem to be a large array of tuning boxes on offer. Threads often suggest that these boxes just trick sensors and over fuel the engine. Im sure this is correct but Im wondering whether all he boxes are basically

equals efficiency. For both these reasons is why I would not consider a remap etc since when puashing more p[ower from ana egine many other changes are made as opposed to just shoving more fuel or pressure into an engine. The artcle extract below explans it a bit. To cope with all the physics that then comes into play - shedding heat damping pulses and vibrations minimising mechanical losses - audi

AUDI Q5 8R New 2.0 tdi for Q5

Just read that the A3 is getting a new version of the 2.0 tdi. httpwww.autoexpre...w-diesel-engine I wonder if it will find its way into the Q5

EA288 MDB powerplant shares only the bore spacing with the previous diesel engine. A number of changes have been made to help reduce emissions such as use of a complex exhaust gas recirculation system (with high pressure EGR and a cooled low-pressure EGR) integration of the water-cooled intercooler and the EGR valve with the intake manifold which also improves throttle response and packaging the exhaust

AUDI Q5 8R Diesel Additives - What works on a 2L TDI

Hi I was wondering of anyone uses diesel additives like Red-ex on their Q5 and does it really work or is it just a waste of money One of my friends swears by it for winder driving in Scotland but having never used it I do not have an opinion.

LOL There is a label on the insider of the fuel flap that reminds people what fuel is required and I think the filler car is clearly marked Diesel too&33 I have known folk to put the wrong fuel in their cars and luckly I take my time and read the labels on the pumps&33 Who would be liable for repairs if the wrong fuel comes out of the pump on a forecourt I am not going to be sexist and say it is usually women as that would be very wrong of me

AUDI Q5 8R Diesel Chipping - how long

Hi all My 2.0tdi Q5 should arrive in a few weeks. On my old car a BMW diesel I had a diesel chip made by CHIPExpress - its a variable chip that you can set for balanced increase in MPG AND power or crank up and max the power right out... On the BMW I only ever used it on the balanced setting and this would give me about 3 mpg increase and a noticeably sharper response from the pedal under acceleration.

I take as you have jumpers you have a plug in tuning box The problem with these is they bodge the ecu signals to gain power the end result is they fool the engine into pumping in more fuel etc. This leads to problems and also ecu error messages along with increased mpg when used on power settings. The alternative is a proper remap preferrably done live or on a rolling road this actually changes the

AUDI Q5 8R Stuttering Acceleration

Wonder whether anyone has come across this... my 2.0T Auto is 3 years old and with 40000 kms on the clock. Had the ignition coil replaced under 2 months ago and the mechatronic software replaced a year ago when mileage was around 30000kms (massive tussle with local agent car spent best part of 6 months inside the dealers shop). Been noticing the car stuttering during acceleration today it is much

I had very similar problem with my old B6 Passat 2.0T which is basically very similar engine. It started with lite occasional stuttering but over time problem developed to extend that it was hard to keep constant speed above 100kmh or to accelerate more rapidly. After several retries service found the problem to be faulty fuel pump -(

AUDI A5 8T 8F Problem with 2.0 TFSI engine

Hi I have an intention to buy an audi As long as I know the new versions of audi (Q5 A4 A5) usually have 2.0 TFSI engine that uses directly fuel injection technology and the engine increasing pressure is very well acceleration is also good saves fuel. But it is also said that the car have high-pressure fuel pumping error. I am not a master in this field so I dont really got it. Could anyone tell simply me what that error is and is it serious Thanks.

BMW X3 E83 Goodbye X3...

My X3 lease ends next month. I got the X3 for the wife cause it was a cheap lease - 499 month for a MSRP of 50k with zero down -- unheard of today. I loved the handling size of the X3 but have some major complaints 1) Auto transmission sucks 2) Sport suspension is the most horrible suspension I have ever had 3) Huge blind spot due to seating position and B-pillar 4) Navigation is horrible So with

tracked it several times with no limp codes. If there was an X3M I would have bought it. If there was a redigsned X3 with the 335 engine I would have bought that and modded it. The naturally aspirated inline 6 in the curent generation X3 and auto transmission suck. That was another reason why I didnt jump on the Q5 initially - not much of an upgrade in power although tramission is very nice. audi

BMW X3 E83 Considering an X3... and then not.

My Dad called me to say that theyre finally replacing their 1998 audi A8. The transmission started to go and they decided its not worth spending the money to replace it given the age of the car. Last time they came out to visit me from New York they said how much they liked my X3. He said he was considering an X3 (steptronic) or an audi A4 (TiptronicQuattro2.0T) to replace the A8. First its a sign

Theyd probably be happier with a familiar driving experience console

BMW X3 F25 Need honest opinion

Been looking for a new car awhile now and have narrowed down to a few choices...including the new X3 28i and RDX wAWD. Driven friends BMW before but never owned one myself could someone give me an honest opinion on if the X3 is really worth the extra 10-15k compare to the Acura RDX (with similar options) I am planning to purchase not lease (which seem like most people do with BMW) and keep for 8-10

Posted by gresch A friends new Q5 is experiencing quality issues. Plastic water pump replaced with metal pump rear view mirrors falling off fuel pump went bad. All in the first 3 months. Hes not a happy camper. And considering that I and another friend own BMWs and advised him to get an X3 hes even more pissed now. Dont fall into the trap of my friends car is falling apart so therefore audi

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W164 Check Engine light on 2009 ML320 Bluetec

I have just over 12000 miles on my ML320 Bluetec (2009). I have had it in to the dealer now for the third time for a SCR sensor. The sensor continually reads that there is no Adblue in the tank when it is full. I continually top it off every month to keep the tank from ever running down. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this.
