BMW SERIES 5 E39 DIY change of the CCV Pressure regulating valve oil separator

The following diy is for a 99 528i automatic. the pictures are for the most part self explanatory of the process but i will say you dont need a whole lot of tools mainly torx (2 sizes) sockets 6mm 8mm 10mm and 13mm some flat screwdrivers and patience. Just make sure that you connect back all the plugs you disconnected before there are like 6 of them but it is easy to find where they belong they are

Ive used MMO and seafoam in engines to clean sludge and mild carbon but Im really skeptical of how it would be possible to restore compression from a bottle. Has anyone performed a test When I check for bad rings in my motorcycles its done be performing a compression test by adding small amount of oil to the cylinder. If the compression rises I have bad rings if the compression stays the same I have

1st W124 1990 300E 2.6. The Panzer. 8 years ago I wanted a bigger car to replace my daily driver vintage BMW 2002. Was initially looking at E30 BMWs and volvo 850s. Of course at some point the thought of a W201 entered my mind and when I started looking at those the W124s were not that much more 500 or so. So I started looking at E34s and W124s and settled on a clean 90 300E 2.6. 3600. I had already

Looking to take possession of 335i coupe soon however this will be my first turbo-engine car. Whats the best way to keep the turbos and the engine operating properly Have heard varying opinions on warming car up and cooling down properly to keep turbos efficient. And how exactly do you cool a turbo down

7.5k just off the top of my head). If you run your car hard let it drive at low engine speeds or idle for 30 seconds to a minute before turning it off. Otherwise you are good to go Ive owned a 1988 ford thunderbird turbo coupe 5-spd (2.3 liter engine 190 hp and 240 torque in stock config) that I ran to over 150k miles before selling it. Original engine transmission and turbo. I also owned a 1995 volvo

BMW SERIES 3 E46 Should I buy a 330ci

Hello All In the next few months I will be needing a second vehicle so I dont have to replace my valve springs every year in my other car (cammed cts-v). My commute will be about 80 miles each way so I will be racking up a ton of miles each week. I want something that is classy reliable and not a slouch. I was wondering if a 330ci (coupe manual) would be a good choice if i find one with 130k miles

I did a project for one year that gave me a five day 94 mile round trip commute. I was driving an E30 with 130k on it and my poor car which started off in excellent mechanical condition almost did not make it. That kind of mileage accumulation is hard on an older sporty car like ours. Your decision will boil down to your heart vs. your head. Do you want to enjoy your commute but wear out a nice BMW doing it Or do you buy a commute car and suck it up The guy from the NYC area had some good car suggestions for a long term high mileage commute. If I ever find myself in the same situation I would buy one of the 1990s rear wheel drive volvos with a 4 cylinder or an 850 and drive the hell out of it.

BMW SERIES 3 E46 Service Contracts Are they worth it

Hello - I bought a 2001 325i sport wagon three weeks ago along with a 1500 comprehensive service contract (which the salesman urged me to buy -- for peace of mind) that is valid for one year. The car had high mileage on it -- 172K -- so part of my decision to buy that car was based on the security that the service contract would provide should anything catastrophic fail such as the engine transmission

to the car dealership today explained what happened and they promised to refund me fully for the service contract. Apparently its worth only the paper its laser printed on. My question is Should I shop around for another service contract provider Or should I not buy a warrantee accept that its an older car and that stuff might break or might not I am no stranger to major repairs as I drove a volvo
