VOLKSWAGEN JETTA Noisy - Squeaky front end

Hey to all... I was wondering if anyone has experienced what I am with my 2003 jetta GLS (61K miles). The front of the car developed a very annoying squeak a few thousand miles ago and it is driving me crazy The noise comes from the front and is worse on the drivers side. When ever I get out of the car or go over small bumps the front squeaks. I asked the dealership and they said it was a common problem

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA Front end noise on Jetta

I have a 2001 jetta 1.8T. I bought the car with 93000 miles on it and now has 104000. Its been an awesome car and have had no problems with it until recently. When my front wheels slip on ice or dirtit makes an annoyingnoise in the front end [] but stops when it gains traction. Also everytime i go over a bump the front end makes a slight knocking noise near the wheels i know its not the shocks cause

Over ice its almost like a quiet grinding noise yea Thats what it sounds like to me but thats just the traction control slwoing down the wheel speed is what I was told. As far as a knocking could be one of the front end suspension parts becoming loose like a tie rod mine was and also struts.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA left side front tire.

my 97 jetta when i take a left turn it bounces up and down. whats up This ad is not displayed to registered members. Register your free account today and become a member on volkswagen Forum

sounds like suspension pieces possibly control arm bushings something to that effect. is it on all left turns when turning the inside tire gets the majority of the traction so a left turn puts the driver side wheel with the majority of traction in the turn putting greater stress on that wheel.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IV 99 VW Jetta Rattling from rear of car issue

For going on 8 months now I have noticed in the rear of my jetta there is a knockingrattling sound that seems to have gotten worse as the weather has gotten colder. Ive taken it to the mechanic several times and theyve repaired numerous heat shields beneath the car but the source of this sound has evaded them every time I take it in. It will be easier if I present whats happening as points. -The noise

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IV 2002 Jetta clunk sounds...

Well my wife and I just purchased a 2002 jetta 4 cylinder turbo yesterday. I gotta say...this is one NICE car. A couple things concern us though. One thing I have never heard from a car is a loud thunk sound when travelling at high speed and applying the break quickly. Ive discovered that it is in fact the rear breaks hitting the rotors really fast. I checked the manual and it states that it has some

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IV VW Jetta 2004 problem

Hey guys I am new on this forum and I am not quite a techie with cars. I need some help because after 2 years of owning my jetta (2004 GLS V4) I ran into my first problem. I hit a bump in the road or a stone or something of that sort recently when I was driving. I didnt think much of it since it didnt feel like a serious bump. The following day my car started squeaking and creaking like an old door

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA hit the 100k mark. TIMING BELT PROBLEM please help.

so i hit 100k in my 2000 2.0 jetta and from what ive heard in the past the timing belt is something i dont wanna mess up. i called the dealership for a quote on how much it would cost to replace and they told me 1300 bukz is that really reasonable the guy at the stealer told me that they have to drop the front suspension in order to do the job. is that correct or their just trying to get more money

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 Suspension Overhaul

Hi All I have quite a few questions that I thought Id put into one thread and hopefully get some feedback from the community. Ive got an 07 3.6 4motion wagon and my suspension is noisy as can be. Ive put it off for a couple months but now its to the point where I really need to address it. Just a quick summary of the symptoms 1. front end is noisy over bumps especially if its very cold out. Anyone seriously considering the Passat opt for the jetta instead. the price difference for full load 2.0T seems to be only around 5K I really did not like the looks of the jetta but after driving it changed my feeling towards the car. Like to hear others opinions and prices paid

Well Im just a couple days away from finalizing my purchase . I still love the lines on the New Passat but in the end it is just to big for my personal tastes. Ive got to say however that I am very surprized here at my final decision. Reason being is I really didnt like the look of the jetta when I first saw it but after test driving it has really grown on me. First mods will be HPA(KW)coilovers (lower

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA wheel issues

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 97 jetta automatic vs 96 jetta standard

I have a chance to buy a 97 jetta in really good shape (minus the 2.0l engine and auto transmission). I would like to know what is involved in taking my 2.0l engine and 5spd manual transmission out of my 96 and putting it into the 97. I know that there will be some changing of linkage and clutch pedal and cable. Is there any other things I should be aware of What about the computer Would it be looking

There would be quite a bit of work involved. You would have to take the ecu from the donor car and if the new car has options the old one didnt you would have to have them programmed. You also would have to replace the axles and maybe some front suspension parts. Im sure there would be other various things to change.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA floorboard & accelerator pedal vibration - Jetta

I recently ran over something that looked like an extra large thumbtackpush pin. The tire did no go flat but two days later I noticed vibration on the floorboard and the accelerator pedal. The mechanics at VW checked to make sure the tires were balanced the wheels were in alignment and even looked at the axels but couldnt find any problem (and they didnt feel the vibration but its definitely there).

Did you hear any sort of noise when you hit whatever it was. Vibrations usually come from rimstires or somewhere in the steering parts. Check the tie rods make sure they arent jacked up. Something could be loose too but just put the car on a hoist and move and shale everything that has to do with your suspensionsteering in the front of the car. If you get a lot of play on something then thats your problem. But def check those rimstires.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA lowering the chassis

first just cuz im a nerd its GLI not JLI but its fine simple mistake. haha. Now to the question yeah if you lower it too much your axles will run your front sway. You can either get a new front sway bar or get new endlinks for the sway bar that will accomodate for the lowering of the car. What kind of suspension are you looking to get

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IV Help 2001 Wolfsburg 1.8T Clunking

I test drove it took it to the best import mechanic in town for a look-over and did a carfax everything was great. Until.... It took me 6.5 hours to do all four (front drivers side...2.5 hours alone) but it was the first time I have ever changed any part of my suspension (besides RSB). VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Need Help In Choosing the Right Suspension

Need Help. Im not too sure which suspension to purchase and whether or not I need to get new shocks. I want to drop my passat to get rid of the ugly gap in the wheel well and improve handling without sacrificing the ride quality. Ill probably be riding on 18s. Should I get a set of eibach sport springs or the pro-kit system H&R Koni Neuspeed Suggestions appreciated

make a difference. My 15s had the crappy Michelins which were designed for geriatrics IMO. My 18s have had Conti ContiSport Contact IIs that were great and very comfy. Currently the 18s have Fuzion ZR1s. The 19s have S-03s on them. IME the tire quality makes a bigger difference than the tire size. In order of ride quality (best first) Id rate them S-03s Contis ZR1s. FWIW my bro did a 2 on his 01 jetta

I want to start with simple things I have a couple of questions hopefully you guys with more expirience can solve or help me with this.

Vag-com is a very powerful and useful too to have for your passat. I would highly recommend getting one. You will also need it to enable the fog lights if you want them to be controlled the same as when they were OEM Some modifications i would recommend 1.) VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 Want a B6 but the options are tough

I have been exclusively a VW owner since I got my license. Recently my wife traded her 2003 24v VR6 GLI in for a Highlander because she was pregnant with booger 2. Now we both regret it. We would have gotten a Touareg but they were too expensive. Now the B6 comes out and were in love... until trying to sort the options. I have a sinking feeling that the car we want isnt configurable. First we wanted

no where near happy with options. I want the 3.6 its supposed to be a SICK engine. The tip-tronic tranny is NOT a VW tip anymore they are coming from the Mitsubishi plant in Japan. They are supposed to be a cost saver to get more Passats sold at cheaper price. Has anybody seen the list price for a 3.6 LOADED Passat Cheaper than a loaded B5.5 was a couple years. Honestly I would go with a new GLI jetta.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 How was your experience with the B6

Post your experience here (good or bad). Seems like this is something we will see a lot of in the coming weeks and already there are a lot of threads. Lets try and keep it all in one place so we can share our thoughts on the new Passat.

I just got my Passat for my 24hr test drive. First impression on the car was that it looked like a big jetta very Japanese sedan like. The car looked better in person than the pictures. Here is some notes from my drive to work this morning. I will have more time this afternoon to drive it around a bit more. Sorry no pictures its been raining. Exterior The front chrome grille wasnt as bad as I thought.

VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Stagg Shockstruts. Do not buy. supreme waste of money

Hi Again I want to take this time to warn everyone that if your on a tight budget for car parts dont skimp on buying good shock absorbers. STAGG shocks are absolute RUBBISH. I know I bought some. Literally has NO rebound control the shaft was too long and created a knocking (like the Koni STR.Ts) The shock shaft material is WOEFULLY BRITTLE and its just all round Chinese CRAP. I would also be wary

Well i have news for you maybe the Koni yellows are really good and are designed to fit the stock position exactly.

Heres an excerpt from Thursday September 16 New York Times talknig about the new jetta styling. What they say is also true for the new Passat. VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B6 Alpha Drive Test Comments

Here are my thoughts one night and one morning into my Alpha Driver test. I dont like the steering -- nice weighting but not enough road feel. Much better suspension than my B5.5. VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Power steering pressure hose

Hello I have a 1998 Passat Wagon with the 1.8 l engine. Almost everything that could break in my car has broken in the 3 months (turbo ABS washer fluid tank exhaust pipeetc) Ive owned it. I can see where to take it out on the pump side but on the rack side it seems to go up behind the rack and

ps fluid that is fully compatible with AudiVW and their local rep did a ps flush and purge using their equipment. The ps fluid is now the right color and the steering feels smoother too. To be safe I also checked the ps fluid on my 02 jetta

I didnt watch the video but if it was kind of a nut-cracking sound then the first suspect is the control arms (ALL of them) the second suspect is the tie-rod ends and the third suspect is the damper bushings. Which is to say prepare to drop a couple large on a whole new front suspension. Might want to get the wheel bearings changed out while youre at it theyre the same wheel bearings that the jetta and GTi use -- guess which car is gonna wear them out first.

NISSAN I Drive A Versa Because I CHOOSE To

When we went shopping for a new car this time around we researched and test drove more vehicles than for any previous transportation Ive owned. The vehicle I had coming off lease was a turbocharged 2003 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser (a VERY rare model and a blast to drive). Every vehicle was test driven a night in the country to evaluate headlight effectiveness and interior visibility. Some vehicles have

My bet is that the jetta will have superior lighting. Certainly the volkswagen
