TOYOTA YARIS should oil be changed in manual transmission

Hello I have a 2007 yaris with 75000 miles and the 5-speed manual. Is there a scheduled maintenance for the manual transaxle. That is should the gear oil be changed at certain intervals. Thanks for any replies because I can find nothing regarding it.

i find that the MT doesnt matter too much..... dont get me wrong it should always be done and when u are to get to it remove the pan and clean it out jsut wipe it down with clean papertowels dont introduce any cleaning products (windex bad) and make sure to clean the magnets. transmission oil i find lasts a very very long time but as u go over and beyond the due date the life of the car goes down a

TOYOTA YARIS Any vendors on Yarisworld sell Auto Transmission pans

Id like to support a business on this site if at all possible. Im looking for an automatic transmission pan and a pan gasket. I was quoted at near 100 for that at the dealership but like I said Id rather support someone or business on here. I also checked on the trans oil filter and the dealership was telling me its 80 for just that little strainer That sounds rediculous. Please let me know if theres a business or person on here who deals with these parts

thats 82.83 about what the OP said -- oh well blazin what about the trans oil filter

TOYOTA YARIS Add transmission fluid to engine oil

I was at my local toyota dealer for an issue and while i was there explained to him i was going to do the Sea Foam Treatment and wanted to know his thoughts on that. He stated that they have done that there and was fine with it. However he suggested that rather than using the sea foam in the engine oil part that i throw a quart of automatic transmission in the engine oil then do a change. Has anyone out there done this and what were the results

TOYOTA YARIS 2009 Sedan Auto Transmission Oil Change DIY

anyone have a DIY manual on how to change tranny oil for the automatic transmission on a 2009 toyota yaris (drain and fill) im just reaching 50k km and would like to change it.

If your are concerned you could take your vehicle to a transmission shop such as aamco that has a transmission flush machine. They disconnect the lines to the cooler and introduce the machine in its place. The dirty fluid goes into the machine and fresh clean fluid goes back in. Dialysis for your transmission. That way you get 100 percent fluid exchange and needs to be only done once. Afterwards they will drop the pan and change the filter and gasket. Typical cost is about 250

Scott I travel about 125 miles a day and my plan is to drain it again in about 3-4 weeks drop the pan change the filter and refill. Upon reinstallation of the pan should I use any silicone on the blockpan or put in on dry is there a pattern to tighten the bolts and what is the torque specs Thanks. Richard

Ok guys Just finished dropping the tranny pan and replacing filter. This was the second draining and I am satisfied with job. I am surprised at the amount of metal in the pan and on the old filter. I do not understand why toyota doesnt recommend a filter change except for us to purchase a new tranny. Thanks to Scott for the advice on filter change at 100k. I do feel a considerable improvement in shifting

TOYOTA YARIS Decided on synthetic gear oil

Ok I have decided to go for sure with synthetic gear oil with my manual transmission but I have a couple questions. 1. Forgive my ignorance and confusion but I want to be absolutely sure that I understand. When I say gear oil to a mechanic that means manual transmission fluid and that is the one and only fluid that goes in the manual transmission correct 2. I do not want to change it myself just because

1. I dont usually say gear oil I just say transmission fluid or tranny fluid. Manual transmission fluid is correct too. Clutch fluid is the only other fluid related to a manual transmission but it doesnt actually go inside the transmission. 2. IMO heres what you should do with 130 30 - Tranny fluid (I HIGHLY recommend Redline MT90 get it amazon.com) 20 - Give to buddy for letting you use his driveway. 8 - Drain pan with lid 2 - Funnel 70 - Craftsman tool set - Make sure to get one with a 12 drive ratchet and buy a 24mm socket (its an odd large size that wont come with most sets). Totally worth it to keep in the car Has UNLIMITED Lifetime Warranty You dont even need to jack the car up - just put a cardboard box on the floor to lie down on. You can bring the drain pan (get the kind with a lid) to jiffy lube or pep boys and theyll recycle the oil for free (tranny fluid is still just oil). If youre uncomfortable because youre new to working on cars I think this is a perfect job for your first DIY. ... To answer your question though.. I guess 130 is okay since theyll probably charge you 60 for fluid 60 for 12 hour labor and whatever for environmental fees or whatever else they can come up with. Maybe theyll divide it up some other way but you get the idea. If you decide to do it on your own take a look and see if you can find this bolthole on the top of your transmission (the shiny hole) because it is so much easier to fill the fluid from there. I will try and find it on my gfs yaris liftback and take a picture - this picture is from an mr2. edit - Just think your tranny will look like that in 20 years too And itll still work great because toyota is awesome

If you can change engine oil you can change a manual tranmissions oil. It only has drain and fill plugs (bolts). Drain it out the bottom hole replace the plug and fill it through the upper hole (actually its on the side of the transmission) untill it begins to run out the hole. Replace the upper plug. Done. No filter no nothing else. If you have the tools to remove and replace the plugs and a pan to

TOYOTA YARIS Tranny FluidOil Drain Plug Questions

I finally got around to changing my oil myself the other day and noticed that he pan for the transmission fluid seemd to have a drain plug in it. Is it possible to just drain the fluid and replace it without dropping the whole pan Also I bought one of those magnetic oil drain plugs from pep boys and it didnt fit. Does anone know what size I need to look for when I got to exchange it TIA Ryan

the transmission fluid hot with the engine running in park. Before checking move the gear selector through the range pausing for 15 seconds or so in each gear. Ive been tracking my car and have been wondering if I need to change my auto transmission fluid ealier because of this. Should I run toyota trans. fluid or is there something that is better and can I change it myselfI love my yaris and would hate to see it break. Thanks brian

I believe the auto trans oil toyota uses is unique to toyotas (as least it was a few years ago) so I think you have to buy it from them. Not sure you can change it yourself either that is all of it. Theres like 2 quarts in the pan and another 6 or so in the torque converter (or somewhere else) which isnt accessable by the drain plug. I think you have to hook the transmission up to a machine that flushes

TOYOTA YARIS changing transmission fluid (automatic)

I did a transmission fluid change in May everything is good. But I heard some poeple say I need to change twice or even the third time to get rid of all the old oil. Is this necessary If so how long should i wait between each change Thanks

If you just dropped the pan and drain it from there you only got 2 0r 3 quarts of the 8 that are in there. You could do that a dozen times and not get it all. Some shops have the setup to get it all and it involves hooking up to the transmission lines that run to the radiator (or something) This pumps the new stuff in while pumping the old stuff out and is about the only way to change the oil in it.

TOYOTA YARIS Dipstick covered in oil-help

So I just did my 10000 mile oil change on my 2010 liftback. Its the first oil change for this car Ive done since the dealer gave me 1 free oil change for 5000 miles. Ive changed oil before. I looked up in the owners manual that the yaris uses 3.9 quarts of oil so I put in 3.5 thinking that Id see it on the dipstick and then put in just a little more. Well when I pulled out the dipstick it was covered

transmission oil is to be checked both cold and hot. Engine oil is usually checked coolcold since you want it to settle down into the pan. How about running a pipe cleaner down the tube

TOYOTA YARIS DIY CHANGE MANUAL TRANNY OIL

It is not that difficult to do. If you can change the engine oil you can probably do this. Though the nuts are a little bit tougher to get at. I did not put my car up on jacks but was still able to squeeze my 6 foot 200 pound frame under enough to do all the work. Keep in mind I am making no GUARANTEES on this work. What you do is at your own risk. If you dont feel you can do the work. THEN DONT. It

just to clarify for those of us with auto transmissions....what you all are doing is just draining and filling the trans pan. what supmet stated was 250 was probably a fluid exchange (flush and fill) which takes all the fluid out including that in the torque converter .

TOYOTA YARIS Problem help

Hi friends. Disaster struck I broken automatic transmission. For repairs requested 4k. How much you worth after selling a new or in good condition

Yes but that USPS has less issues delivering to individuals in Russia than they do to people in Italy or Spain. So out of the crate it came. I then proceeded to disassemble it literally on a freight scale working towards getting the main body of the transmission to be less than 65 lbs so that it plus packaging would equal less than 70 lbs. I ended up with three boxes. Box 1 of 3 - 66 lbs. 1. toyota

From what Ive heard about the new world standard atf fluid is your not supose to mix it with old fluid. It must be 100 pecent removed and replaced with brand new which can only be done with a transmission flush machine. Simply dropping the pan will only remove about 3 quarts. I removed over half the fluid volume of the transmission by dropping the pan. You get a little less than half just by draining out via the drain plug. And yes dilution is the entire point of the process. By doing so every 15k the fluid will stay very clean. I would take regular drain and fills any day over a flush once every 60 or 100k.
