and then a much more powerful car with a more linear throttle control most people would say the e-throttle car is more powerful. People buy cars based on electronic gimmicks nobody is going to buy a car without a pile of gadgets.Stripping out all the electronic gadgets isnt necessarily going to save much money anyway. Look at cruise control for an example its already a function of the ECU on the yaris

TOYOTA YARIS Using DFCO to increase your MPG

What is DFCO It is an abbreviation for Deceleration Fuel Cutoff and the yaris engine (1NZ-FE) has it. How does it work When your yaris is moving forward with zero throttle and is in gear (engine braking) the ECU (your cars computer) cuts off the fuel flow to the injectors. This means you are experiencing forward movement with no fuel cost. Does this work on both the Liftback and the Sedan It is not

TOYOTA YARIS Speedometer Accuracy

I have an 09 yaris LB with an automatic transmission. I drive a lot and when going 55 mph (according to the speedometer) I get passed a lot. When I drive my Durango 55 mph I pass a lot. So I tracked it with my GPS and when the speedometer says 55 mph the GPS says about 5253. I wonder which is correct My guess is that the GPS is correct or else Ive suddenly begun driving like I was 90 years old

TOYOTA YARIS No respect in a Yaris

Hey all Im a relatively new member and I have had my yaris for only about a month now. I like the car and the great gas mileage but the interaction with other drivers is baffling to say the least. It seems I get zero respect on the road and it really goes beyond that. For example I was leaving work the other day and before I pulled out onto the street I noticed a full-size Dodge pickup truck heading

I dont really have a problem of course I drive slower than almost everyone on the road and if they try to tailgate me Ill brake check them faster than they can change the radio station. Mostly though I just dont care what other drivers think. When push comes to shove most people dont want to get in an accident. Although I will also admit to pushing the yaris father than most people are willing to push

and roll multiple times before catching on fire. I later read the driver died. I never drove like that but when you drive faster more aggressively someone like that can cause you more problems.) I slowly started to change my driving habits. After several months of driving defensively all the time I realized my car didnt make sense anymore for my driving style and changing lifestyle so we got the yaris.

TOYOTA YARIS P1 I get no respect

Midsize autos trucks etc. They see me and they just pull out in the front of me causing me to slam on my brakes. Do they not know that yes I am small (intentionally) but a lot of damage and loss of life (including theirs) could occur. Therefore I have to feel very sorry for the Smart Car owners who must live a nightmare on the highways.. Do any of you have the No Respect problem

Ive found that on my 2-lane commute no matter what speed I go in my yaris I tend to get tailgated and postured at. However when I drive a pickup truck on the same commute even if I go a few MPH below the speed limit everyone gives me some space. I find it sadly funny how people equate their vehicle - which they didnt design source materials for build nor even likely maintain on their own - with their ego and how they feel a need to project that false ego on the roadways that we must all share.

TOYOTA YARIS Where do these cars rust

Hey guys Sorry to mention the unmentionable but someone in a salty part of the world must have been unfortunate enough to learn where these cars rust. Just would like to know so as to take steps to avoid it on mine. My wiper blade arm is rusting under the paint. Going to see if warranty will cover it. If not I will take it off and fix it. TOYOTA YARIS Hate for Yaris

I read where one poster here has had their yaris keyed (bastard). Id like to know what prompted this. Have any of you experienced yaris hate either directly or indirectly As we all know there is a certain SUV element that will tailgate intimidate or otherwise bully a moving yaris (i have experienced this since I got mine...although I could drive a Ford 350 Super Duty in Atlanta and receive the same

yeah i get tailgated a lot but i dont speed up. i just slow down even more either that or i get out of the lane and let them pass me. then i move back into that lane and tailgate them. lol...

I will sometimes get tailgated or lured into speeding with other cars. Size doesnt matter many cars have teased with me SUVs BMWs other late model imports even old domestics. Im Chinese and drive a black yaris with tinted windows. It helps when ChineseAsians are considered automatic criminals or gang associates in my neighbourhood It gets quite amusing to have a stare down competition with another Asian male presumably a gangster.

TOYOTA YARIS low gas mileage

Curious question here. 2007 Polar White HB yaris with 1274.7 miles on it. After the 1000th mile I tried checking my gas mileage (since by fuel bar was blinking super fast so I had to gas up.) Turns out that only 274.7 miles later I have to gas up again but only gassed up 10.4 gallons. So basically I got 27.4mpg Is that wrong or something All I got done to my car is a Tanabe Concept G Axle Back Exhaust

Fuel Cut Off and it is manifested by your ECU stopping all fuel flow to the injectors and all spark signals to the coil packs when you are in gear (with the MT just be in gear with the clutch disengaged with an AT pick a gear other then OD i.e. 3) and decelerating (engine braking) with the throttle at 0&37 (take your foot entirely off the accelerator). TOYOTA YARIS Yaris Digital Speedo Error

Anyone else in Australia or elsewhere have a speedo error problem I took mine to the dealer after checking with 2 GPS units the speedo was reading 107 KMH when the actual road speed is 100 KMH. Dealer fitted a new speedo head complete now the error is worse Its reading 109 KMH for a 100 KMH road speed. The error varies depending on the speed range you drive at meaning the error is less at lower speeds.

going the real speed. A co-worker (my newish boss) used to work in Purchasing at GM Holden in melbourne and he said ALL new holdens definitely showed a higher speedo reading than what they were actually doing. As you said the error is LESS at lower speeds and the odometer still reads correctly --- i beleive its a certain percentage that has been set by the factory. TOYOTA YARIS DIY sealing the hood.

so many asked so you had me out in the rain today. nissan part66830-50Y00 this only comes with 11 clips the white ones in the picture i am sure you can order some more i used a total of 17 clips. the strip was a little long so i cut it down to 42 after i had it attached. drill holes are 316 i didnt really space the holes any special way just how i thought it would hold the besti did one hole at a time

Also people could use this if they dont want to drill. It has 3M double sided tape to hold it in place... Its actually truck tailgate seal and can be found for about 30 a roll (probably 2-3 yaris hoods worth). The density feels about the same as the factory rubber seals around the doors. I keep a roll around as you can use this stuff for lots of things...

TOYOTA YARIS Any benefit to shifting the auto from D to N at a stop

When you come to a light and the situation or length of light doesnt allow you to turn off the engine responsibly do you think it serves any purpose to shift the car into N When I do this at a stop I find the rpms rev up a little but the car seems to loosen up as its not fighting the brakes but I dont know if its worth it good or bad. What do you think

Thanks for the thoughts. Hopefully someone with a scanguage on an auto can test this one day. I personally dont believe shifting to N at a stop can make much of a difference because toyota knows 99.9% of people wont do this and Im sure they taken measures appropriate to that knowledge. I just dont want to do it if its causing more problems than good. I never coast in N when I am coasting in heavy traffic

Just want to share what I have done over the weekend... I just installed a backup camera on my girlfriends yaris. The car came with a hole for the camera so I went and bought a 3rd party camera that fits right in the OEM location. It looks OEM from the outside. I am planning to get a double-din radio to display the image but right now just settling on 4.3inch LCD screen. Install was relatively easy.

hello may I ask you if the connector that came from vehicle for the OEM camera at the tailgate (close to the hole where the camera was installed) did you wire something there (to that connector) if yes can you tell me what and how my yaris has on that connector 4 cables pink brown black and blue. Also where in the car you placed the monitor thanks.

TOYOTA YARIS 39 MPG

Bought me a used 07 yaris. Read a bit on the forums on how to maintain best fuel efficiency. I was surprised after filling up the tank tonight that I got 39MPG. Over half the tank was driven by a relative who had to run all over the state. Shes a speeder and she was blowing AC full blast the entire time. Im curious to see if Ill be able to break 40MPG when Im the only one driving it this next tank

Welcome from another fellow Wisconsinite I tend to forget to check my tire pressure regularly too. The best mileage I got was one hot summer day going down to the Chicago area. I had the AC full blast but was only doing 45 mph in the construction zone going into the tollway. Needless to say there was nearly everyone passing me and Im sure I ticked off some even though I was in the right lane. Hey I dont want a double ticket in the construction zone Anyway I thought I would post that I got 47 mpg that trip...the best I have gotten so far. Im sure that the slower speed had something to do with it. I generally go the speed limit even in rural or through town. There is a stretch here where its 40 mph posted two lane road. Many people go 45 or 50 mph as there is usually no police. Well I set the cruise and go 40 mph....which causes some to tailgate me until they can legally pass. Others seem to ignore the yellow line and pass me...even on a hill. Of course many of them are SUVs or pickup trucks All in all I think you will enjoy your driving techniques and saving gas. Oh and Mr9865 - when are you getting a yaris
