TOYOTA YARIS AC or Heater Core leaking into passenger floor

My wife called me at work a few minutes ago and said that her passenger side floor board was damp and that she could hear water sloshing behind the glove box when turning a corner. I am still at work so havent got to check it myself yet. It was kinda warm the other day and I am sure she had the AC on. I am hoping the drain tube for the condensation is just stopped up. Any history of the yaris having leaky heater cores This is an 07 Sedan by the way.

Nevermind did a search and see that this is pretty common. Will check the drain hose after work.

Took the drain hose loose from the floor pan and loose from the white plastic HVAC box under the dash and it was clear. So then I pushed a cup up under the plastic box and jammed a small allen wrench up in the hole. After probing around a few seconds water comes pouring out and when I pulled out the allen wrench it had nice big leaf on it. Took all of 5 minutes.

TOYOTA YARIS Heater core hose

Can someone tell me what the hose is that goes under the engine cover Mine looks like it split but is still connected at the engine. I think it is a heater core line.

Thats the EGR hose and if you look closely there is an outer protective layer and that is probably what is split.

Thanks CTScott... It is the outer layer that actually split and the clamp slipped off. Guess I gotta get a new hose. Gonna try to cut it and put clamp back on. Only need to cut 12 inch off I think.

TOYOTA YARIS Block heater

Does anyone currently have a block heater on their yaris Im seriously considering one. Do they make a noticable economy difference due to warm up time and does anyone know the toyota part approximate price TIA R2

Jon I spent some time finding the core hole. This is how I finally found it. (BTW I have an auto so Im not sure how a manual will differ but I hear one will need to remove some brackets on the manual.) TOYOTA YARIS Winter and Heater (AC)

Hi has anybody noticed that when you have car with full load of passengers in winter the heater doesnt blow warm air enough and the back windows get steam. Or if you try first at the cabin windshield is on steam. (Hoping that summer will come soon)

TOYOTA YARIS Freon smell and heater not working as good as it used to

Late last summer my wife and I began noticing that there was a strong Freon odour coming air conditioner when ever we had it set to recirculate air and the blower control knob set to position two. And recently weve also noticed that the heater takes much longer than it once did to warm the car in the morning. Any ideas why this might be so. and is this problem likely to be something covered under warranty Thanks in advance for your replies Shane.

TOYOTA YARIS heater control box issue

Well my car needs to see the shop. Warranty work. I was driving in to work this morning when I noticed that when my legs would normally be warm they were cold. I checked the heat controls they were on full heat fan speed 2 with the heat setting on the notch between full feet and half feethalf upper vent. I checked the upper vents hot air was blowing out. So I thought to myself not again My previous

Your theory does not apply. It would apply if something were changed between the time it was parked (when it worked properly) to the time it was used again (when it didnt work properly) but that is not the case. Does the yaris

TOYOTA YARIS heater not working water coolant level drops

The heater is not reaching full temperature and there is a gurgling noise coming from it. Water coolant level drops but only needs approx 1 pint to top up. I have had radiator replaced and system drained and bled to refill. I just did a long journey and the car didnt overheat. Cant see any obvious leaks. Any ideas please

sounds to me air traped in the heater core. Suggestion -drive up on a couple ramps or a steep incline. -take off radiator cap -turn car on heater on high -let run for a while (5-15mins) -watch coolant see if it drop or air bubbles form. I would invest in one of these httpwww.google.comproductscatal...d0CGAQ8wIwAA They help coolant refills so much and easy to watch the air bubble escape.

TOYOTA YARIS Official smelly heater thread.

am i the only one that gets a really funky smell when i turn the heat on its really really bugging me since im using the heater more. and if i got a date and that acts up im gonna be pissed. So shout out if you get the smell.

Ive noticed this too - when first starting the car on a cold day heat cranked all the way up and recirc off. After a few minutes as things start to warm up I feel like Im smellingbreathing exhaust Turn off recirc turn down heat and things eventually clear up. I thought maybe its something from being new that has to burn off the heater core and it would eventually go away but so far it hasnt. But I wouldnt describe it as fungus smell (like moldy AC) or sulfur...

I only use recirc for a little while at the beginning since the car heats up faster that way. What Im smelling is not from moisture or mold. Switching recirc off helps but just because theres more fresh air mixed in. The main thing that helps is backing off on the heat (temp knob). It seems to be having heat cranked full on after engine is at normal running temp that causes the smell. I think it IS

TOYOTA YARIS Heater Control Stuck on 2010

My heater control knob stops at about 23 of the way to maximum heat. Getting colder now cant put fixing it off any longer. Have searched post and not found a way to even get this apart . Thanks for any help on this.

The hotcold knob moves the damper within the airbox that hides or exposes the heater core. Pop off the passenger glove box and rotate the knob while watching the gear move on the side of the airbox. You can give it gentle assistance from the gear side to see if it will free up (dont apply too much torque to the knob or you will snap the drive cable). If it does not free up with a bit of assistance

If you want to make 1000% sure the compressor wont come on in the winter with the defrost running pull the compressor fuse or pull the plug off the compressor. If the smell goes away with the blower on and the AC off it is not the heater core. In that case it has to be the actual AC evaporator. TOYOTA YARIS 07 yaris sedan at

I have an 07 yaris sdean at just under 45k miles. When you accelerate there is a running water noise as though you took a bottle of water and pour it into another one. So question is... what could be the problem the ac works the air blows engine is warm there is coolant.

I am going to buy a Liftback yaris because of the gas mileage and the fact the it looks damn good for a small car but I feel I should wait for the 2008 model year because maybe toyota will wise up and sell us the Canadian model with the tach or the Australian model with the digital dash. Quote Originally Posted by Tamago could it be a water bubble in the heater core line It cant be that because coolant doesnt enter the heater core unless the heat is turned on and with the weather we have I doubt hes using the heater

In many cars the hot water always circulates through the heater core. Air doors control the air flow through the heater core and air conditioning evaporator. Id expect thats how it works in the yaris. Check the radiator cap to make sure the coolant is full to the top of the filler neck. There should be no air space in the cooling system. As it heats and the coolant expands some is forced out into the overflow tank then is sucked back in when it cools and contracts so there can be no bubbles.

The heater core is what is used to heat air for the heater settings in a vehicle. Hot coolant goes through it from the engine. So when air is passed over the core with the hot coolant it heats the air. There is no way to keep coolant from flowing through a heater core... there is no thermostat or anything. Ducting in the air galleries is what directs the hot air either into the cabin or not. Sometimes

TOYOTA YARIS Defrost.

I wasnt for sure what section to post this under but... Is anyone having a crappy time with their defroster in the mornings Here in Arkansas the weather has been kind of chilly in the mornings and my car has frost all over it. It takes about 20 minutes LITERALLY to defrost the whole windshield (which isnt big at all). It takes even longer to do my windows and my poor little side mirrors... they stayed

Oh by the way when I was out there feeling the air coming out the defrost vents that air was pretty darn hot. The engine was at normal operating temp and its about 60 degrees here in SC right BMGyaris Do you know that you dont get any heat in that air until the engines thermostat opens Thats right. The engine holds its coolant inside of the engine until the temperature of that coolant in the engine

TOYOTA YARIS Radiator Change

Hi there guys new on this site so bare with me. I have a yaris 06 model on just over 56000kms. it was a repairable write off - i did not know this when i bought the car a couple of months ago. Like many others ive also had the leakage on the passenger side carpet but like many others also ive cleaned all the pipes and filters said so by many of the forums. I gave it to my mechanic where he thought

We call those heater cores in North America ) (they do radiate heat though). I havent done a yaris yet but quick look at labour guide says 5.7hrs evacrecharge the AC. So lets say 7hrs at 100hr and its not cheap. 1200 seems high though. Pulling a dash is not a fun job most times so shops sometimes quote higher. They may also need to bring in an AC guy if they do not have the equipment (which adds cost). Good luck.

When doing a pressure test you are applying pressure to the cooling system. This helps show any leaks as it will make coolant come out faster where it is leaking. The heater core is not a complicated system. You are passing hot engine coolant through the core then blowing air over the hot core. The air gets hot and then comes out the vents. If it is leaking you should be getting a sweet smell when

TOYOTA YARIS Important Breakthru In Fuel Efficiency

I have installed a block heater in my yaris and am currently experimenting with it. My drive to work is 6.7 miles so about a mile or three of that the engine is not up to temp. I get 32-34 mpg in summer but less than 30 in winter. So Im hoping the block heater will make things better. So Ive had frost on the window and have to run the defrost at full blast. The cool light isnt going off for a mile

What would be saved if you could cut that to a mile at non warmed up temp. I dont know. Wheres that defrost mode without AC mod httpwww.yarisworld.comforumsshowthread.phpt10888

TOYOTA YARIS Coolant Smell after sitting in hot sun

So I liked my 2007 Hatch so much that I bought a second one used. Have had it for about three weeks. Recently became aware of a coolant smell after the car has sat in the sun for a while. Weather here just reaching the 70s-80s now nothing too hot. Took it for a drive last evening no smell. Went back to the car after I had been back for about an hour no smell. This morning went out car in sun opened

TOYOTA YARIS What About The AC

When you have to use the AC it is worth it to set the blower as low as possible In other words does it use more gas to set the fan switch on 4 instead of 1

Thats true if the yariss AC control system is smart enough to cycle the compressor to reduce the cooling of the air to get a higher output temperature. Many systems run the compressor to chill the air coming out of the evaporator to a constant minimum temperature and mix hot air from the heater core with the cold air to get anything warmer than the coldest temperature. In that case you dont save anything

or open the coolant throttle may be for the system. I usually prefer 75% and number 2 fan when people are in the car I run the fan at 3 and front vents only (people seem to think cold dry air in the face means they are cooler lol). I dont think the throttle is always fully open (can you call it a throttle) and mixing with heater core temp (some cars do this my bronco did) but I dont think the yaris

TOYOTA YARIS Overheating problems

A couple of weeks ago my car started overheating. It turned out to be a bad engine coolant filler neck and cap. I replaced both those. Then it started starting really crappy like stalling out right after i started it and puttering alot. I figured with it overheating although i was watching and putting coolant in it before i replaced the neck and cap it was probably the ect sensor. So i replaced that.

Hi all I went for a drive this morning and about 10 minutes in noticed my temperature light was flashing. Then it went off then flashed again. I pulled into a service station and found my coolant reservoir nearly empty. I topped it up and headed back home. On the way home the temp light flashed again as I was pulling into my driveway. I popped the hood and had a closer look and noticed a bunch of pink

There are two hoses (about 34 in diameter that connect to the firewall to feed and return from the heater core. Take a look and see if one of them is leaking. If not under the left edge of the carpet in the passenger foot well is where the drain tube for the AC system exits thorough the floor. If you get at it and find that the red fluid is coming from there then your heater core has failed.
