TOYOTA YARIS 2008 yaris sedan airbag... Din get answer anywhere yet...

There is something that is confusing me in my wifes toyota yaris 2008 sedan. Usually only wife drives it. the passanger airbag light section seems to have 4 lights (not in the speedometer fuel gauge panel) these lights are under the word Passanger written on the dashboard. 1) airbag 2) OFF 3) ON 4) passanger seat belt (ignore this light as this is not an issue for my query) When you start the car

TOYOTA YARIS Are the optional airbags worth it

I know safety is always the best but are these extra airbags really worth it Im not sure if im gonna get them everyday I think a different way some days its yes definatly gonna get them others its nah not worth it. I just dont know

extreme end of the scale equipped WITH them. httpwww.iihs.orgratingsrating.aspxid278 And Finally remember that while an accident involving a frontal impact can be controlled or avoided to some extent there is virtually NOTHING you can do to control REAR IMPACTS and SIDE IMPACTS in some situations. Consider the following example of the accident I was involved in a couple years back with my 2003 toyota

This is the way cars were designed so that occupants are protected from all accidents. You should learn what you are talking about. You actually have a better chance of surviving being hit on the side directly because the car will move sideways MUCH easier than it can move backwards if you are hit head on. I understand your theory but being hit by an SUV in the side in a small car like the yaris

Poor means more potential for wonderful things like punctured lungs

What I said was that side curtain airbags are the most important. Side curtain airbags will NOT be available on the yaris in the USA. I still beleive engineers rely too much on airbags and not enough on engineering.

TOYOTA YARIS Failure of airbag deployment

Just a short note for all the yaris owners. Ive owned a 2007 yaris sedan since new and had over 137000 trouble free miles on it. On December 21st I hit a rather large patch of black ice on interstate 393 just outside of Concord NH. I ended up doing a 360 in the middle of the road then hitting a guard rail straight on with the nose of the yaris at better than 45 to 50 mph. NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAGS.

Just look on ebay. An airbag is not 3000 bucks to replace.. This is the MOST EXPENSIVE on the first page of results. httpwww.ebay.comitmtoyota-yaris...item5648263cf2

bar directly by the time you finished skidding around the ice your speed decreased. so therefore by the time the actual impact was made you may have only been going 20-25. there are black boxes inside vehicles that can be pulled for information to determine the speed the crash impact was at & the speed at the time the brakes were depressed & how it took for brakes to work. AMAZING EH it is up to toyota

of frontal impact i happen to glance down and saw that my speedometer was reading approximately 46 mph and verified by my scan gauge. Three the entire front end was pushed back into the the engine itself and the engine itself had been moved towards the firewall. THE DAMN airbagS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. the entire front of the car had been shortened by almost 22 inches. This is another failure of toyota

TOYOTA YARIS Airbag center console light on 07 Sedan with side airbags

I picked up my yaris last weekend and Im just noticing now that the airbag indicator on the center console (just below the hazard flasher button) is always on whether or not anyone is sitting in the passenger seat. This indicator is part of the occupant sensing system and actually consists of 3 indicator lights. There is the light for the word airbag and seperate indicators for the words ON and OFF.

TOYOTA YARIS BRAKESCODESAIRBAG

Hello all I as many on here have taken on the challenge of changing my front rotors and pads and also my shoes on the rear. My E brake is engaging properly but the brakes are obviously feeling spongy. Is there any Pattern or special fuses or relays to disconnect to bleed the brakes Please be specific. Problem2 I have the airbag light on as well and figured out after this number of flashes after jumping

side airbags and that is indeed the code then you get to that sensor by pulling the lower B pillar cover. It is located next to the seatbelt assembly within the B pillar. Check for wire damage and if they are OK then you will need to replace the sensor. 3. There actually was a TSB for this for 07 yaris where the camshaft timing gear as opposed to the VVTI Oil control valve is the cause. With the toyota

TOYOTA YARIS airbags chicago region

well i was very close to trading my corolla for a yaris. yes many would say im trading down but ive always been patial to small hatchbacks and the corolla aint it. anyway the crash test results have me concerned so id like side airbags. however configuring the car on toyotas website (chicago region) shows only the convenience package or power package (which does not include abs or sab). i can due without

As far as I know side airbags are not part of a package. They are an extra standalone option for 650. My yaris LB has the side airbags and on the window sticker it puts the side curtain airbags as a option by itself for 650. Oh I paid full retail for my yaris but there isnt much room to haggle prices when I bought mine because it was in such sort supply and high demand back in July. Would definitely

TOYOTA YARIS yaris airbags

Hello. My 102009 yaris 1.3 Hatch has deployed its airbags. I have been offered a 2008 model airbag system for 500 dollars from a wrecking yard. Dash looks the same. Steering wheel slightly different. Can I use this systemor will i have problems. Will 2008 module work with 102009 ECU

Thanks CT. A few developments today. The steering wheel insert is different. My mechanic fitted the system today. What I have installed in the yaris at the moment is my original 1009 module 2008 model passenger airbag(dash board) 2008 seatbelts and he plugged the 2008 drivers airbag in even though it is physically too small for the 2009 steering wheel. The only fault that registered was the drivers

The airbags modules are cross compatible. The spiral cable is part of a plastic chunk that is mounted directly under the steering wheel. Replacement is easy but it is a very expensive part if purchased from toyota ( 300).

TOYOTA YARIS a & b pillar removal wside curtain airbag

i would like to redo my interior in suede starting with the headlining and a & b pillars. except i have side curtain air bags. im worried about messing with them cuz i dont want them to go off. although i think i could take them off if im careful im pretty positive they would put the sensors on inside of the pillar anyway. has anyone taken off their pillars that have the side air bags

I have not disassembled my interior to the extent you plan to however the toyota shop manual goes a looong way towards helping you keep your airbags stowed httpwww.etimago.comyarisrepairmanualInterior.pdf Its a nice 122 page 8.74MB PDF file recommended.

TOYOTA YARIS Airbag monitor malfunctioning

Today when i started her up it was about -19C this morning. the airbag ON and OFF light for the first time was set to OFF then after it warmed up both on and off where not lit up. and continue to be this way. The yaris manual basically says Take it to a toyota Dealership Imeditaly Ill keep an eye on it for the next couple days. Has anyone had this problem Thanks.

TOYOTA YARIS Passenger Airbag Question

Today I was driving my wife home from work in my 2009 yaris hatchback and something happened with the passenger airbag. The light indicated the airbag was on then all of a sudden the light indicated the passenger airbag was off. She unbuckled and rebuckled the seat belt and the airbag was switched back on again. Can anyone explain what caused the passenger airbag to turn off Any ideas RedStickHam

Is the new one a yaris one or is it from some other toyota (also is it OEM or an aftermarket one) If everything checks out OK through the clock spring you should also check for continuity between the 4 airbag wires at the steering column to their other end at the SRS ECU (you have to pull the center console to get to it just under the bottom of the AC controls). The four wires (yellowblack yellow yellow-red

TOYOTA YARIS passenger airbag light problem (NOT stuck on)

Hello. Ive had my 2010 yaris for about 5 days now. The passenger airbag light is confusing me. When I start the car all of the passenger lights (airbag on off and seatbelt) come on and then turn back off so I know the lights themselves work. When someone sits in the passenger seat the airbag on and seatbelt light come on as expected. When no ones sitting in the passenger seat theres usually NO lights

TOYOTA YARIS Airbag system

Hello dudes) How are you doing I recently crashed my 2006 yaris sedan into a tree and the airbags opened. One guy at the company told me that he thinks that if the airbags pop out you have to replace them alongside the seatbelt system and the airbag control module and it would cost approx about 3500 US for the whole thing. Im really confused I mean why would you wanna replace the control chip for

The SRS ECU can be reset but if you go through a toyota dealer they will only replace it (I think it is kind of a liability thing). The seatbelts have a mechanism that explosively tightens them to hold you against the seat while you are getting smacked in the nose by the airbag. The seat belt(s) will need to be replaced along with the airbag(s). If just the drivers side popped then you just have to replace the seatbelt and airbag on that side.

Oh then its basically a liability matter. Okay now I have a question. I was wearing my seat belt. My airbag popped. The passenger seat was empty and the passenger airbag also popped. Was it some kind of fault in the car or does the yaris passenger airbag always pop out even with no weight or seat belt on the passengers seat

TOYOTA YARIS AIRBAGS - with Front Pass Seat disconnected

Greetings - new to the forum but a yaris owner for four years. Im on my second had a 2009 and now a 2012. The price of gas being what it is I sold my truck and now have to make do with just the Toy. There just is NOT the interior space - on another car I once owned one without seat airbags I took

TOYOTA YARIS Side Curtain Airbags

Hey guys This is my first post here. I purchased a 2008 Automatic Base yaris with 36000m a week ago I love it No power anything bare bones just automatic transmission. I live in the US. I was wondering something. How easyexpensivepossible would it be to install side curtain airbags That is my only concern as this will be my wifes primary mode of transport to work and school. I know the safety rating

Having just replaced the drivers and passengers airbags in the semi-wrecked yaris that I recently picked up I can say that purchasing them is nowhere near as expensive as one might think (I paid less than 200 shipped for both shipped off ebay) and installing them is also less scary than one might expect. In your case adding the additional airbags to one not equipped with those squibs would require

TOYOTA YARIS Yaris Airbags

Do these things work Ive seen multiple accidents online with no deployment. My girl is a paramedic has seen 2 yaris wrecks that warranted deployment in her opinion but no airbag... Ive never see a pic of a popped airbag on a yaris...whats going on Someone go run their car into a wall like the old Aerosmith video...

The manual would tell us the conditions in which the airbag would deploy. Video of a wrecked yaris with a deployed airbag... httpwww.yarisworld.comforumsshowthread.phpt8271

TOYOTA YARIS If the drivers side airbag deploys.........

Will I be implaled by the demonic toyota emblem on the steering wheel. I envision a branding on my face or forehead or chest area.

rofl i can imagine if airbags actually shot the emblem at you.. then you see yourself branded with the toyota emblem for life hahaha. airbags usually helps keep you from smashing your face into the steering wheel since it only deploys at a certain speed. I take it theyve tested those speeds to where if they dont deploy your face would be in worse trouble than the bruises the airbags give you I do not suggest sticking it to the bag

TOYOTA YARIS Disable Airbag

Hello Just wondering is it possible to disable the airbag deployment in for the passenger driver. In case we need to put in a baby seat or for any emergency Would appreciate how to if possible. Tyrone

TOYOTA YARIS Airbag Sensor on -- Help

Hope Im posting this in the correct area... I have an 07 yaris the other day I backed into something going maybe 5mph. left a little crack in the bumper but more importantly my airbag sensor light is on in the dash the passenger airbag light says it is off (whether someone sits there or not) and the passenger seat belt light flashes continuously even if the seat belt is onplugged in. Does this mean

TOYOTA YARIS srs airbag light after head unit install

I plan on replacing my head unit soon but in the manual it says that you need to talk to your dealer about a new radio install or it could cause problems with the srs airbag system. WTF does the radio have to do with the airbags My 02 cavalier was the same way - people who were installing aftermarket headunits would sometimes relocate the stock unit in the trunk so that it could still do whatever

Id expect this type of crap from GM (they probably saved 0.008unit) but I am wary to install a new head unit in my yaris

TOYOTA YARIS Airbag contact question

Hello I recently installed some foglights. When I put the bumper back in place I noticed a contact that is just hanging loose. I attach a picture. I had the bumper replaced at a auto shop a while back after hitting a dog at 65 mph. I wonder if this contact should be plugged in Is it for the airbag and did the mechanic jsut forget to plug it back in Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Ola

Im not sure but if it is for the airbag get it hooked up. My wife wrote off our yaris & without the airbag it would have been far worse. Although shook up & sore she walked away without a scratch. Without the bag would have definitely put her in the hospital.
