TOYOTA YARIS Liftback Air Conditioning (Cabin) Filter info

Like at least some others I saw the filter replacement info in the owners manual and thought that a cabin filter would be a great thing to have. Went to the local US dealer with the filter pn I had obtained from a Canadian dealer (87139-52020.) TOYOTA YARIS Check your new 2012 Yaris for the cabin air filter

I noticed that the 2012 uses the same AC system as the 2006 to 2011 yaris so the same AC stink and condensate backup issues are likely to occur with the 2012 if a cabin air filter is not installed to prevent stuff from getting into the airbox. Id be curious to hear if 2012 owners find that a filter was installed by the factory or dealer. The filter compartment is located behind the glove box on the passenger side of the car.

Comes with it . This is from the 2012 brochure picked up from a toyota dealer . Ill vacuum out the cabin filter every 4 months or so ( top side of filter ) . Plan to get the charcoal air filter would last longer with the cleanings . Will try to remeber to get it when toyota coupon arrives in the mail .

mentions in the beginning of this thread looks like the same AC system used in the 2nd gens was carried over to the 3rd gens (makes sense) 2nd generation the CAF was an option 3rd gen it was made standard (2012-2013) Reading all these horror stories in regards to the airbox getting clogged with debris and condensation from AC system backing up into the cabin...the smell this is scary & BAD. When I originally tried to put the Fram filter in I said to myself it makes more sense to put the longer dimension across the width of the car but that means you have to potentially damage the baffles and toyota wouldnt design this process to require that. I was right re that thought (and more on that in a minute). I went to NAPA and looked at the part 4483 that yarisLover09 used and that one the

I prefer an allergen rated one that goes for 15 but even a cheap one is better than

Its not alarmism its just concern about people thinking they have the better than OEM answer for cabin air filters but wouldnt dream of ever trying to show OEM how its done when it comes to their other filters like oil filter and engine air filter. TOYOTA YARIS Clean your air filter for better mileage

I was noticing quite a drop in mileage. At first I thought it was tire air pressure...then oil....then spark plugs....then I cleaned off my lifetime air filter. It was the air filter. It wasnt really that dirty but once I cleaned and oiled it my mileage increased back to the levels before I noticed the drop. So it might be the winter...the winter gas....but the air filter is really really picky about being clean

TOYOTA YARIS k&n air filters

Hi has any one tried an k&n air filter in the 2009 yaris yet.If so did it help with the milage and or power. THANKS

THANKS I have had a K&N filter in my other car for years without a single problem. A couple of weeks ago I installed one in my yaris Does it help with power Yes but not dramaticly of course. It does give slightly better throttle respose and opens up the high end a bit. It is comon knowlege in the industry that a dirty air filter will degrade gas milage. The oposit is also true that an engine that breathes easier will get better milage. However the MPG difference with a K&N will be minmal. Also be aware that toyota sells a K&N type filter and calls it a TRD filter.

less than 15. Spark plugs wise Ill go for NGK iridium or better. Or the denso ones heard those are good too. Spark plugs can cost around 40 KnN drop in filter cost around 45ish and cabin cost less than 15. Along spark plugs and drop in filter can boost some performance. Transmission oil its the black dip stick on the right side of your engine. I think you use WS oil which is the factory oil by toyota.

TOYOTA YARIS Air Filter Replacement

Hello all I was wondering when you would need to change your air filter for the first time. I have been experiencing more then horrible acceleration and was wondering if it had to do with my air filter. I only have 8600 miles on my yaris. I have taken my car to the dealership twice and been told I was crazy and that there is nothing wrong with it. I recently drove a 2010 Honda Accord and a 2003 Hyundai

at the dealer (that is very cheap for an OEM filter) I change it ever 10-15K miles. I heard on a car radio show that for every gallon of gas burned 9000 gallons of air pass through that filter-my motivation for changing it and its so easy to do yourself. I doubt your filter could be that bad at 8600 miles to cause acceleration problems-maybe try a different brand of fuel. Try driving a similar yaris

TOYOTA YARIS Yaris air filter lid

The secondary air filter stuck in the air filter lid looks pretty dirty possibly a restriction can you change these Do people remove them completely Really whats the point of it Im surprised I cannot find any threads on morons hacking the crap out of it without doing the proper research first like in the honda forums lol.

I was wondering about this secondary filter as well and my 2006 Corolla had one. I removed it on the Corolla and that car seemed peppier (less air restriction). I did the same to my yaris when I got it last year and I noticed it had the extra filter. Not throwing any trouble codes and I could always put it back in with some sealant. It is actually called a screen on the diagrams of the intake if you do a search for toyota OEM parts.

TOYOTA YARIS K&N Air filter questions

I know a number of posters swear by these. Ive never used one but Im due for a filter change and am considering the drop-in one. 1. Any real world comments on how they affected your mpg 2. Apparently at some point you do a wet clean and reoil. I imagine you would still check the filter at least annually and maybe remove it and tap out any noticeable debris. Do you ever need to blow them out our do you just leave it alone until it is time to reoil Cant think of any other questions. Thanks.

I have be using K&N air filters for years with absoluly no problems. One benifit of a K&N is they tend to open up the top end a bit. Making an engine breathe easier can only be a good thing. Cleaning and re-oiling could not be simpler just about idiot proof but evidently some do manage to screw it up. TOYOTA YARIS 2009 Air Conditioning Filter

Hi all I just recently aquired a 2009 Yarus Hatchback. I was reading the book and noticed that it mentioned an air conditioning filter. It said something to the effect of if equipped. Do I need one Why would it say if equipped and then say you need to have one Im confused Thanks JP

one myself. From what I have seen in threads here. With no filter installed. Foreign material can get into the system and plug up the drain for the condensing water. Causing water to drip on the floor and nasty gunk to grow in the unit. Here is one of the threads on this as there are many. It refers to a 2012 but has nice photos to assist you in seeing if yours has one installed. httpwww.yarisworld.comforumssho...binairfilter

TOYOTA YARIS Why didnt the Yaris come with air cabin filter

Seems like it would be something so simple to include with the car but yet it never came with one. I finally (after 150k miles) decided to put one in to help cut down the dust that gets into the car seems like itll do a great job of that too. Just makes one wonder thats like saying you buy the car but no oil or air filter is included you have to buy it seperately before you take it home from the car lot.

have to buy it seperately before you take it home from the car lot. Cabin air filter compares closer to something like heated seats than engine oil. It is only a comfort item to keep your interior clean and reduce the amount of junk you breathe. It does not make the car last longer or sell better. So the answer is Its cheaper not to install one. And I agree they are definitely nice to have. The yaris

TOYOTA YARIS Blitz air filter replacement

Ok. This might be a stupid question but Im still new to anything concerning the engine compartment of vehicles. So I just ordered the Blitz air filter for the HB Yarii and Im looking at the air box in the car Im wondering How the heck am I suppose to replace it Do I have to remove the whole plastic box and somehow shove the filter in

If its just a replacement filter you just un-clip the 2 metal clips on the right side of your air boxes top. The top will now be loose from the bottom that is anchored into the car itself. Slide out the white paper toyota original filter and slid in your new replacement. Blitz also sells their cone filter that replaces the entire stock air box and gives you and adapter and cone style filter. Not much to their kit. NOTHING else needs to be purchased it comes complete.
