MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 2004 Starter Relay

Hi new on here and after some advice My 54 plate vito has just developed a starting problem the ignition turns on and lights all come on as they should but will not crank (fire starter motor) Ive tried the spare keys check all the fuses swapped the relays in the fuse board and all seems ok I have checked the starter motor by putting a direct feed to the solenoid and with the key in the cranked position

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 1999 Vito 113 PetrolAutomatic will not turn over

Hello Everyone I have been intensely reading this forum and individual threads which describe similar symptoms to mine but I have seemingly tried checked anything that I have learnt to no avail. I will be having this car towed to a private mechanic (not dealer) who will hopefully isolate the fault and get my van back on the road. However I thought I would ask the question if anyone may know if I have

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 2002 108cdi starter relays

Help Can anyone tell me where exactly where the starter relays might be so that I can swap them over to test them My battery is strong but on turning the ignition it just clicks once and the starter motor does not turn. The AA guy (who turned up 10 minutes after I called) push-started the vehicle ok but said it was the starter. It might be but Id like to check out the relays first. Are there also any

Thank you very much for the thread HarryHardHat - best information I replaced the starter motor on Friday and not only did the problem disappear but the engine turned over twice as quickly with the new unit. This I thought was a good indication that a knackered starter motor was the cause. But I am aware that the relay in the starting system can be a problem and that even with a new motor it could

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito brake lights - relay

Hi Both my rear brake lights are not working (not ideal) - it is deffinitly not the bulbs pretty sure it isnt the switch and my friend tells me he had something similar with his VW and it turned out to be the relay. Only problem is I have no idea which relay controls the brake lights (if indeed there is one). It is a RHD 108D 1998. Any help would be appreciated. Kev

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 my new vito few electrical niggles

hi all new to vitos iv got a v reg 110cdi 157k on the odo few problems im wanting to sort without MB as iv just read a massive thread on how pants they are my odometer is really dim even when i put my lights on at night i can hardly see it... how easy is the dash to remove and bulbs to replace (iv searched for threads and cant seem to find one....) the electric window switches how are they wired i

dash -- dead easy to remove and believe it or not this is the official MB method.... the dimness is probably the wrong bulb fitted (common)... but have you adjusted the dimmer... ignition to pos 2 or running - buttons in top of instrument cluster with lights on press and should get brighter.. - gets dimmer but whether it works depends on spec of vito when manufactured (everything is an option) removing

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito electric starting problem-urgent help please

The van is a 2001 mercedes vito 110cdi. The past few days i would turn keywait for glowplug light then turn keythere would be a few seconds of silence before van would burst into life. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 The chip fat diaries...my vito 108D conversion

HI chaps...ive been looking into this veg oil conversion for a while and saved up enuf &163 to convert my 108D traveliner....thought it might be useful to keep a sort of diary blog. Apoloigies its on another forum (i moderate it so easier for me to do it there) but hopefully you will find it useful and informative in these times of &1631.10 a litre VWKD - VW Camper and Beetle Conversion from aircooled

The worse bit....running the loom for the dash controller....first i decided on a location then removed a million pieces of plastic and then drilled a hole in the bulkhead coming out near the relays....this is the most awkward and time consuming part if you have a vito

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito preglow and alternator lights came on.

This is my first post here so Hi everyone Ive got a 2008 vito v6 120 the other day the engine light came on while returning from a long journey the power also reduced the next morning I started it up and the preglow light stayed on shortly after startup the alternator light came on. I tested the voltage to see if alternator was charging and it comes up to 14.6v so it is. According to one thread on

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Aircon issue

Hello Fellow vito owners Id like to solicit some advice as right now my 2001 vito CDI 110 is having issues on AC. Heres the scenario Whenever I turn the Aircon ON by switching the dial button (compressor) instead of getting cool air the air coming from the aircon vent were warm as if I just turn the blower on without running the compressor. Without touching anything it will then takes several minutes

I am resurrecting this thread as I am having similar issues with the aircon of my vito. It was taking several minutes before cold air blows so I had my AC checked fully vacuumed cleaned gassed up and bought it a new dryer and expansion valve. It improved for a while but the symptoms came back (i.e. delayed cooling) until it further deteriorated and now totally lost cooling. I had the AC checked again

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito 110cdi wont crank unless glow plug lights on

my vito 110 cdi wont start unless the glow plug light comes on (you can hear the relay click in the engine bay) iv checked the batstarter motor there both working fine they were new in September anyway... when you turn the key the van does nothing i have to turn it about 20 ish times then the glow plug light clicks on then it starts.. then i turn it off staright away to try again & it either happens

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito starter motor removal

Hi my 638 is occasionally not starting. Here is what happens turn key Dash lights come on (as normal) then nothing (starter motor not kicking in). If i repeat that several times it will eventually start. I think that the starter motor may need replacing or it could be a dodgy contact in the key barrel. Last night i had a look to see if i could access the electical connector on the starter mortor

Oops just thought Id look at your other posts & Ive found another thread where you say you fixed a relay power problem (which I assume was for this same fault - I havent read all your posts yet). So maybe that is my answer. But on the other hand it sounds like it may be a different fault to mine with similar symptons. Im not sure that if it was a fault with my relay that the starter would suddenly

Gday all. Malcolm Ive got a 2008 model Z750 its a great bike (bright orange) heaps more reliable than a merc vito. Ben Z I just wanted to let you know what i think was happening with my van a year ago. I had an issue where intermittently my van would not turn over. I would turn they key and just hear a click under the passenger seat (AU version). I got a cheap replacement starter motor off ebay swapped-it-in

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 2000 vito 110 cdi not starting

I really apologise guys I know there are other threads on this page with the same threads and I promise I have exhausted the search facility however nothing seems to quite fit. Scenario My mum has a 2000 vito 110 cdi (120000m) which over the past couple of months has been effectively losing power when going uphill. on the flat or downhill its fine but uphill it just bogs down and loses speed. Anyway

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 2001 will not start on a morning

I have a 2001 CDi vito which will not go on a morning. I turn the key it cranks and cranks with no attempt to fire. If I keep going back to it it will eventually fire and then be fine for the rest of the day. Its only on a morning. Had codes read which showed glow plug relay which has now been replaced. There was also an historic cam position sensor fault. It fired 2 days ago with a battery pack on

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 109 wont start when below freezing.

Hi folks Had a vito 109 since last year and its been great up and till now. As soon as it drops below freezing I put the key in and turn it and all the lights come on as they would normally but when turning to start position the start motor doesnt turn or click or anything. Ive tried putting power straight to the starter motor and that works fine. I wondered if there might be a relay or something thats freezing up. Hope someone can help

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Starter problem

Hello My 1996 113 vito let me down yesterday. I stopped to fill up with petrol and when I turned the key to restart the dashboard etc lit up but the starter did not turn. I managed to get it going by shorting the signal terminal to the 12V terminal (both on the starter motor). This leads me to think that the motor and solenoid are ok and the problem is electrical - somewhere between the key switch

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 109 Cold Start

My vito 109 has a cold start problem. When the air temp is about 3 deg C or below and you turn the key to the first position all the lights come on except the glow plug light. Absolutely nothing happens if you then turn the key to the second position. Repeated switching on and off sometimes lights the glow plug light and it then starts first time. If the air temp is above 3 deg C it starts first time every time. Could this be a glow plug relay problem If so where is it Thanks Phil

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Glow Plug Relay

Hello everyone I own a 2002 vito 108cdi the problem is that the glow light has been on for a while now so today i decided to test them with a multi-meter. Glowplugs 12 and 4 were reading .6 but number 3 was reading 0. So i changed number three which was easier then expected and now get .6 from all 4 of them so i was happy. BUT the light still remains on after engine is started. So next i thought i

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 108CDI - will not crank sometimes

Hi Im having an intermitant problem trying to start my van. Normally it fires into life straight away. But occassionaly when i turn the key to start my van nothing happens it dosent even try to crank over nothing. On the few occasions that this has happend I have been able to try the key again it has started. would this be a sign that my starter mortor is on the way out or does this sound like a problem with the battery or someting else cheers

Yes i did get this problem sorted in the end. I had to call an auto electrician to help me and he managed to track the problem down. I forget his name Ill call him Joe. I had read a post on here that talked about a problem where the ecu was not grounding properly (an internal fault in the ecu) so i suspected that might be happening in my van. To test this we lifted the passenger seat and got into the

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 108cdi (2004) w638 Will not start

Ok firstly new member so Hi from Australia Bought my vito about a week ago and has been starting and running fine. I did notice the glow plug light (when ignition is on) only comes on for less than 2secs goes out engine starts light comes back on for about 1min. BUT the other night the engine failed to start (and unfortunately had to get it towed to a friends place nearby). It has battery power engine

well im glad to hear that vito lives again..... guess what... mine isnt Ok i have been away doing other things... and have gotten back to it i believe the DME relay is the animal that turns the ecu on and tells the ecu to energise the solenoids on the injectors .... thanks heaps chris

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 problem with MB VITO 114 98

[sorry about my english] few days ago I see that my internal lights doesnt turn on. I think maybe some fuse is blown. I cant find out witch fuse is needed. on the fuse cover table of fuses is in spanish or italian language - cant understand. then I found topic in this forum --- httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsv-cl...2001-vito.html ... so I find out that my RadioCD lighter socket are not working too. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Rear Brakes Electrical

vito 2003 2.2 Diesel Turbo. Had problems with ASR where it cuts in at 70mph or when turning. Can switch it off so ok for time being. Anyway with the rear wheels off I cleaned the electrical connections (pics attached). The arrowed connection is

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Interior light in a 113 Vito

Hi Help My interior light will not come on when either of the front doors are opened the light works if you move the switch on the light i.e. when you move the switch to the constantly on position etc. But when you move it back to the position it should be in so the light comes on when the front doors are opened all I get is darkness. Can anyone can shed some light on my problem please (pardon the pun) Cheers - Benz Bling

Hi Benz Bling You have obviously taken the door pins out of the front door pillars and cleaned up the contacts and area around the screw which earths the circuit out when the doors are opened. The switches complete a circuit energising a relay under the passenger seat which turns on the interior light. Make sure you can hear the relay switching when when you open the doors if not check substitute relay. Regards ZX9

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Starting issues - Driving me nuts

Hi Guys I have just bought a 2000 108CDi and I have a problem when it comes to starting it. I will go to the van turn the key and it will start no problems. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Got my Vito 638 110CDI ( 2003 ) Problems.

Hi Guys This seems like the place where to get help with my vito problems so after a good look around i would like to start with my initial problems. Glow light on after started. Process as follows turn key so all lights come on. Wait for glow plug light to go out. turn key - engine starts Glow light reappears. I have read that this could be a number of things and may not actually be the glow plugs.

CORRECT and it ought to be accurate as long as the ignition is OFF...... voltage should only flow when you first turn the ignition on. so to test if the plug is ok... DIGITAL multimeter set to OHMs and its most sensitive range eg 10ohms or automatic....... Ignition OFF... red to top of glowplug (where the cable connects.. wire brush it clean with fine wire brush (for suede shoes is ideal)) black lead

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 99 Vito 110 Starting problems

Hi.. Its one thing after another i just had the van serviced new oil and all the filters replaced it hasnt had a proper long drive since. Tonight after fitting some new speakers and some sound proofing (Thanks darkside) i went to fire her up to take her for a spin and see what difference having bigger speakers and 12 the rear insulated made.. turn key to position 2 and wait for the glow-plug light

Sounds like the solenoid give the starter motor a few belts see if starts then you say a clicking sound is it a relay clicking or does it sound like the solenoid...you may need someone to turn the key while you listen up front.....for safety sake make sure its in gear and youre standing in front of the van on a cliff edge... Definately the battery...no question....the old one isnt holding its charge get a new one.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito 108 wont start

Hello can any help with this Engine cranks over but will not fire or start. When you spray easy start down the intake or tow above 30 mph the engine starts runs fine ticks over nice and even revs fine. Stop the engine and just will not start even when the engine is hot. Any advice would be great. Thanks Phil.

Hi got some help. When the ignition is turned there is a click from under the dash (driver side) and the after a couple of seconds another from the relays mounted on the passenger side under the bonnet. The voltage at the connection at the end of the fuel rail then goes to about 2.3 moving slightley before going to 3 volts and then after a total of about 20 seconds down to zero without any more clicks.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito an 112cdi 2001 headlight prob

hi i have a 2001 112cdi vito the ns head light is out and i cant find what it is. ive done the normal things like fuse..ok bulb..ok main beam..ok side light..ok earth..ok it has lost its feed going into the head light.. is there a wiring diagram about or is it a comman fault any ideas

I just wish I had good advice on fog (front) lamp faults....... there is the headlamp connector cleaning..... then the control switch (with the headlamp leveler dial)... I have seen the lamp control reversed on one of mine and others. I have seen control switches that work only with sidelights and others that need dipped headlamps..... including one that turned on with dips and off with mainbeam. of

Hi all. i have replaced the glow plug relay on the front panellight still on dash. replaced the clutch switch. all the filters and oil. glow plug light still on and goes into limp mode at 60 in 4th gear. if i stop and turn off the engineremove key and then restart it is out of limp mode. My brother put it on the computer but found no fault codes atall. Could this just be the glow plugs. i am gonna get them changed . thanks steve

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito will not start

Hi im new to these forums. I am well aware that there are already topics about this problem but none of them have really offered me the answer i have been looking for. The problem i have is this when i put the key in and turn it the engine will not even turn over. I hear a click but then nothing. This is an intermitent problem and most of the time the 2nd or 3rd turn of the key starts it but over the

i havent noticed any difference in the glow plug light from when it does start to when it doesnt. Also the noise is not so much a clicking as it is just a single click and it sound like it is coming from the front of the van possibly under the bonnet. If the clicking from the relay you are refering to comes from under the passenger seat particularly when the battery is flat and will not turn over it

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 112CDi (2003) Blower Fan

Hi guys This afternoon my ac blower fan completely stopped blowing. Last week it stopped for about 10 seconds turned it off and then back on and all was good. Today my same magic trick didnt work I have looked at all fuses and none are blown. When I switch the ac on I can hear it kick in but not blow Is there a relay for the blower and if so where I read some of the other topic about this and they say the resistance pack but Im not sold on that being my problem. Any thoughts

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 108cdi heater relay.....

Hi Guys Couple of questions problems Im hoping you can help me with. My heater blowers work on 1 and 4 only. I had this problem with my old Mazda Bongo and it was the resistor. I removed it and re-soldered the contacts. Im guessing its the same issue with the vito. Could someone point me in the right direction of the resistor please Also Im getting a knocking noise from the front of the van (right

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Fitting a leisure battery

Has any one done this at all i have a leisure battery and a relay and all wires and fuses but cant figure out which is the alternator feed to the battery Any advice would be helpfull Cheers Pete

Hi Id be wary of using connecting anything to the alternator feed...if you can find it. Apparantly more modern vehicles monitor this feed and it can create electrical probs if it senses any unusual activity. It wouldnt surprise me if the vito uses this system and you really dont want electricalelectronic problems with these fellas The modern solution is to use a Voltage Sensative relay (VSR) instead

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 W639 Electrical issue - Fusebox got wet

HI I have a vito 109 W639. I was pressure cleaning the engine bay and the lid for the electrical box popped off and took in a fair bit of water. I would get yourself a multimeter and some leads that allow you to remove a relay and reconnect it remotely. I would then turn your ignition on and move the auto box from N to D or P to D and test each relay in turn to see if you get a voltage applied to each. The switch on your auto box may also be at fault. I have a manual vito so I will email you a photo of my relay set up and if you have relay

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 2002 108 cdi edc warning

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 permanent live needed under bonnet mk1 vit0 03

ive just wired in a HID kit all is working fine but for the time being i have just got a fly wire from under my bonnet and in through my passenger door to the battery whats the easiest rute for me to run a new wire to my battery or is there a permanent live that i can use under the bonnet which will not affect anything if i run from it any help appreciated.

grounded. Some horns work the other way but the general rule is that manufacturers always use the least wire possible because a) its cheaper b) its easier c) the more wire the greater the chance of it going wrong.......... the permanently 12v fed horns (and other bits) are found in vehicles where the battery is in the engine compartment and the longer wires go to the switchgear....... vitos

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 dodgy starter

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 split charge wiring

i bought a split charge wiring relay set from rainbow conversions but being a bit stupid i assumed it would wire into a cable near my battery from the alternator but the wiring diagram says it has to be wired to the aux on the alternator is there another way of wiring from the original battery or fuse box under the seat to save me running wires to the engine thanks in advance

I fitted a split charge circuit to my vito getting the wire to the alternator is a nightmare more so because you can not see the thing. I fitted the 12V coil conection to the connection on the radio that turns it on when the ignition is turned on. I also fitted a switch inbetween so i can turn the relay off. Seams to work ok.
