MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Engine failures down under

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me I have read another post on here about vito engine failure from October last year (from luke110). The Guru has said that it is probably to do with injectors being poorly installed I have a 99 vito that stopped dead at 250000kms. The van has always been serviced regularly and all of a sudden it just would not start. I have spent thousands of having the problem

Im not sure what fault code came from the CDI unit but this is the summary of what the last mercedes repairer carried out on another vito that I have which is a 200001 model Check vehicle lacks in power - slow response from throttle. Carried out electrical short test - no faults stored. Checked boost pressure - actual values reading ok. Swapped pressure regulator valve with demonstrator - still no

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Newbie in need of Vito advice please

Hi guys just joined the forum and its looks very well laid out with lots of quality info. Ive just bought a V reg late 1999 108cdi vito and need some help and advice concerning its running. Basicaly the problem is a serious lack of power when hitting hills of any kind I often have to change into 3rd gear sometimes even 2nd and struggle up hills at 30mph after just doing 70 and upwards no probs on a

OK had my plug in test done today and its not all good The test showed up one injector under running and one over running to make up for the fault of the under performing injector. The advise was to change both injectors. Also the boost presure from the turbo is not as it should be. This was said to be likely due to a boost or vaccum leak somewhere in the pipe work or intercooler and very unlikely to be a faulty turbo. Any advice would again be valuable. Cheers Ryan.

Hi Ryan Sorry to hear that mate. Id definitely change both injectors then as for the possible vacuum leak how accessible is the pipework What type of pipework is it If its just flexible housing Id change it and see how it goes. benz Bling

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito turbo trouble pic included 110cdi

Another issue has arived with my vito. Basicly I have lost all power and boost from my turbo and it will now not over 3000 rpm I am guessing this is limp mode After reading other threads I thought I would have a good look around and I found that the turbo pipe by the bottom of the rad drivers side was covered in oil. I have removed the pipe and I am going to clean it up and see if it is split. When

The hose you have found there is the drain that empties from the valley in the rocker cover. Its there in case the injectors start pissing out diesel from a leaky pipe and to drain water if any collects at the top of the rocker cover its supposed to be disconnected at one end so youre alright there I cant really make out the first photo if you can get a better pic i might be able to help If its hissing

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito 108 2.2cdiengine shut off on 3500 rpmEDC light warning

Hi to everyone I have mercedes vito 2.2 108cdi2001 yearand problem with EDC warning lightengine shut of on 3500 rpm when I drive..no error codes stored in ECU...think it is a problem with CPS(cluch pedal position sensor)..because when I press two times clutch pedal then engine dont shut off on 3500 rpm when I drive...but I think maybe is problem not in himthen in ECU software any help Thx Regards Neven from Croatia

I had the same problem with a 110 1999 CDI. It is the computer forcing the car into Limp Mode ...to protect the engine from damage. Mine was because of turbo overboosting caused by a faulty turbo boost control valve. I followed lots of advice from this and other forums - car got better and better - but finally cured the problem with the help of a mechanic with a very good computer that talked to mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Diaries - Week 10

So anyway..... Just thought Id update you all on how things are going and post some pics. Catchup Bought the van is September as a project to eventually convert into a camperdayvan. Will keep this updated as the build progresses. Its going to be slow though going though as I cant get the buggerance (as it is now known) into the garage so light and rain limit time spent (much ot the relief of the gf).

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 1st time vito owner

OK guys Just bought a 2nd hand 108cdi 2001 model and have a few stupid questions... Spent a little while trying to figure these things out but then just decided its easier to ask here 1. Where is the compliance plate 2. Is it possible to lock the doors from the inside I can see that when you lock the door with the key there is a little slider bit that changes at the hinge of the handle but cant for

Hi Luke Welcome to the first of a long series of questions youll have about your new Merc In answer to your questions 1. Dunno. Perhaps someone else can enlighten you on that one. 2. Locking the doors is quite easy. Just press the release handle further in towards the door rather than pulling it out as you do when youre opening the door. 3. Regarding the 3 lights on the circular dial if I remember

1.Compliance plate Theres a plate underneath the air cleaner but visible without removing it. It has various info. The chassis number is underneath the plastic cover on the passenger (or driver) step. Your toe will hit the cover as you get in. I do not know of another plate 2. Yup just as matelot says and one lock should operate all locks. 3. a) Matelot refers to a possible pump. Hes right. If the

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 2000 vito 112 cdi limp mode due to EDC lamp

hey i have the above car and it has gone into limp mode and the EDC light has come on .. ive tried running my diagnostic on it and it says the vehicle reports a DTC but no non pending DTC was read so i cant see tha actual code while looking in the engine bay for any obvious reason i noticed that air bubbles was going out of the filter towards the pumpengine upon inspecting the fuel lines i see that

Hi ya so we are getting somewhere hopefully limp mode is most normally caused by turbo boost issues or something that the van deems dangerous. I would check the turbo boost controllers are connected remember there are 2 on the on the bulkhead behind the airfilter and one under the wheel arch. Check the pipes are connected and that there is no damage to them. Check the electrical connectors. Check the

great thanks .. ill check all those things today i saw this morning that right side brakelightrear light bulb is burned can that really cause limp mode i actually had a vacuumhose that was off on one headlamp fitted it yesterday and they work now ill listen for leaks... thats just crazy that these things can cause engine failure haha Quote Originally Posted by walsi Hi ya so we are getting somewhere

Hi ya if you follow the small pipe up from under the van and follow it where it comes out behind the air box it will lead you right to it. Its fixed to the bulkhead and is a small cylindrical shaped thing with an electrical plug and a couple of small pipes attatched to it. If you do a search on here for boost controllers or boost regulator im shure there are pics of one. The intercooler doesnt have

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 What common faults to look for on a 112CDI Vito 2003

Hi Ive recently changed job and lifestyle and a van is where my future lies. Im selling the golf and off to see a van in about 12 hours. In the mean time can anybody advise on what to look out for common faults things to check Its a automatic 2003 112 CDI. Now having just moved to aus vitos are expensive this one is fairly reasonable for here but almost too reasonable so i want to make sure everything

the black death refers to a carbon build up like hard tar around the injectors this happens when the injectors are loose or not seated correctly and blowing past common faults include injector promlems poor startingnon startingexcessive leak off boost pressure problems boost control valve vacuum pipes brake light switch faults or limp mode. low or high pressure pump leaking faults other faults will

Thanks for the response Can the injectors hiss be heard when the engine is idling or will i hear it from inside the van when driving. I presume i cannot mix this up with the whistle of the turbo Is there a specific rev range then i should feel more torque from the turbo and how will i detect boost pressure problems Is the glow plug light a serious fault...ie expensive. Also forgive my ignorance but what is excessive leak off. Thanks again

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito 110cdi in limp mode

Hi all i have bought a 110cdi vito and its a great van. I have a problem tho. When i get to sixty in 4 th gear 3000rpm it goes into limp mode. If i stop and leave for a few mins it is ok again until i am in 4 th gear at 3000 rpm then it goes again. gggrrrrr. any help or advice would be great thanks all. steve

Hi Sam as said before you need to check all the little turbo boost pipes and make sure they are attatched check the boost actuators are all conected and working check that the turbo waste gate is working correctly check for inlet leaks in the maf to turbo pipe. A very small hole that would cause a bleed off of pressure can cause it to over boost. Once you have checked all the turbo side of things and

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 My Vito....Week 7 Issues

Well The van is going and I finally got it out on its first shakedown run today. However a few more issues have reared their ugly heads lol 1) Awful high pitched squeal when the van comes on boost coupled with a lack of power that I would assume happens as the boost pressure rises. Im hoping this in an air leak And most definitely not in any way connected to the oil change i just did The van didnt

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 vito 108 cdi Intercooler intake sensor

Standing at the front of the van looking to the rear on the LHS where the flexible manifold hose is there is a hole on in the plastic pipe that runns vertically. Basically what is supposed to be here. A sensor of sorts Im guessing but I dont know what as the hole is empty and there are two wires there but it looks like the sensor has been ripped out when it maybe fell out of the hole where it goes

Hi Its a Air temprature sensor missing and it would be leaking alot of boost off through this hole Try and block it the system doesnt need it to be there and the thing causing limp mode is the fact that the pressure sensor ( on bulk head ) cant see the right ammount of boost and thinks there is a problem so block i and see if you have any problems If not I may beable to find one for you... Thanks

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 2000 vito with (apparantly) low torque

Hi All Got a cdi110 that needed a replacement engine. Done. And it works... except there is a distinct lack of power to the point of having to change down to 4th when going up hill on a Mway. And when I change up gear its like any momentum that the engine carried is lost and it has to build it revs up from scratch. Anyway camco of warrington have diagnosed the the turbo is ok and gets up to pressure.

Hi Sam I tried Marks link but his website is suspended Anyway I just got it through the MOT so am starting to do more research. It stinks in the cabin now as I believe the EGR valve is leaking fumes. As regards the low power my current options are injector pump out of time faulty boost pressure sensor leaking injector seal I spoke to a ECU reprogrammer and he reckons that it should be at least as good

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito van 108 53 plate idling and smoke

Hope to get a good answer for this and hopefully not generic. Not long bought the van as a non runner as it entered water and didnt start. After pulling it with my wagon to get it started there was lots of smoke but it all went. The vito van has white smoke when it starts then dissapears completly after a few minutes of driving. Coil light was on only to find the red wire was not connected to the coil

White smoke is indicative of un-burnt fuel in 1 or more cylinders. What happens during extended off periods is that 1 or more injectors are dribbling fuel out and its collecting on in the piston crown. Then when you start up in mornings injected fuel lights off engine starts but there is still diesel inside engine and is slowly burnt off as temperatures increase. After say 1 or 2 mins its all gone

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Mercedes 108cdi EDC Light Problem

Hi I am pretty much at my wits end. My 108cdi vito has become a sink hole for my wallet The EDC Light is on Its in Limp home mode permanently and whilst a nice van to drive its a nightmare in the workshop. This is whats been done. Early in the peace I had the Glow Plug Light on and replaced the Glow Plugs and Glow Plug Module. (unrelated to present problem) The EDC came on intermittently and I put

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 110 CDi

Hi Im after some advice on a 110 CDi My mate as just bought one and theres a few problems with it. First problem is that the glow plug light is on constant but its not in limp mode. Any suggestion on this would be good Secondly theres smoke coming from the engine I think its leaking injectors. So Im goner strip that down to have a look at it but I was wondering if anyone as a step by step guide to

through a series of checks as it starts up and the fact that it is making some noises suggests one of the start up checks is causing it to fail. Most common is the glow plug but if its not getting any fuel as above that will also stop it firing up. It then also checks the flame sensor and the temp sensor so either of those could be gone as well. New glow pug is about 25. It can be diagnosed by mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 2000 108CDI - whats the best fire starter

Ok - seriously I have a 2000 mod 108CDI and have recently been inducted into the black death society. I ended up driving the vehicle billowing black smoke for some time before the local ex Merc factory mechanic shed some light on the cause. The injectors were removed reseated and its now running much cleaner....except for..... It seems low on power. I am trying not to compare it to my CLK430 but it

Update 1 It appears that the limp mode is due to the turbo waste gate waste gate actuator. The theory that I am following at this stage is that driving the old girl around while it was pluming so much black soot is that it has gunked up the waste gate and it snow not sealing correctly - thereby leaking precious boost. Martin - spoke with the mechanic and the other issue that he fixed was a faulty

MERCEDES BENZ 123 123 Diesel Purge

Hello out there. I seem to be having a problem after a recomended diesel purge on the 1982 300D that I just bought. The car has 174K on it but the engine has around 60k as it was replaced in 1988 with a factory crate motor at the dealer. As near as I can figure it has only been about 3600 miles a year for the past 20 years. Kinda knowing the history and having a lack of power(although idiling smooth

I didnt even make it home before it finally died. Luckily I was near my buddies house and he happened to be out in the yard working on his own project. We got it out of the road(and into the mud) and preceeded to look at the hoses. The problem was the one last factory fuel line from the metal line to the small prefilter. It has that braided covering which hides problems really well. The hose was flexible

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 EOI V-class and sprinter mobile remapping in NSW Australia

Hi all Im in the process of setting up a mobile remapping service in NSW Australia based on the central coast and i am looking for interested parties wanting to upgrade their power settings in their diesel vans. For example I have a 112cdi vito The hp std is 122hp and the std torque is 300nm When the ECU is re-mapped it jumps to 180hp and 400nm and fuel savings from 8%to 18% If you have other mods

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 hi really really need some help

good day paul . if you have a 108cdi then its turboed sounds like leaky air valve causing turbo to over boost this causes fuel pump to work overtime and flood motor. Ive posted some web sites on turbos worth a look. look in thread vito 1997 108D power increase

correct temperature on ALL merc vans is approx 80c.... hotter than 90 and there is areal problem that needs fixing NOW...... it ought to be as close to 80 as possible. under temp faults (on the gauge) is likely to be the thermostat is stuck open or partly open and needs replacing... andor the temperature sensor is faulty... not as common by a long way over temp (on the gauge) can be the thermostat

No No problems at all Apart from 1) Drivers side driveshaft that decided it would be a good idea to unbolt itself (4 of the bolts were partially undone grease everywhere massive clonking noise) I suspect dodgy repair by previous owners - fixed 2) Turbo hose leak - fixed 3) Rear screen heater has mind of its own now. Comes on when it feels like it suspect dodgy earth as it started happening about the

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Oil from crank breather

Hi guys and gals Today whilst changing my starter motor on my 2001 CDI 112 vito I removed the lower boost pipe to aid access and was surprised to find a significant coating of oil inside the pipe.
