Hi It is good to hear from some one who has a sl like mine.I have did a lot of work on it like the timming chain and guides.I would like to get a service manual for it but i dont they are to be had. I have had a lot of help there are some sharp guys in this club.
Hi Ive done a lot of work also mechanically and still have a bit to go. Some things I do myself some things I take to a mercedes indi shop. The car runs great but I intend to have the timing chain and the chain guides replaced over the winter. The car is about to turn 100K and I dont have any maintenance history from the POs so better safe than sorry. Im also going to have the oiler tube clips and
Hello again I can give you a web site that i use its has been a lot of help.It is pindelski.com it has detailed instructions and good pictures also i use a parts depot thats located in New York it is auto parts headquaters.com.I have tried a lot of parts vendorsand i found this one the to have the best customer service Let me know how you make out with your car i have had good luck dealing with these
Hello Again I didnt get any answers about the temp sensors.let me know if you find out any thing.I went to a mb dealer and ask but got the run around almost as bad as the 2500 hundred dollar timing chain job that cost me 350
karburn179327 wrote I am planning a winter project to replace the pads on my 560SL with some Porterfield or Wagner pads to cut down on the dang DUST. The existing pads dont really need replacing yet so could I get by without replacing the sensors I have not dug deep enough to see just how hard a DIY project this would be. I have a decent price from a really great shop for padssensors but if I could
PBR makes a ceramic for the 87 SL and I believe Akebono as well. I have the Akebono pads on my 420 SEL and can say they have totally eliminated the dust problem. Id also recommend new sensors they are so cheap there is little incentive to re-use them. When installing new pads use a good brake cleaner to remove the old dust crud from the calipers and try to borrow a power washer to clean out the inside
Kevin Here is another option that might be worth checking for the SL. httpwww.myroadster.netporterfield.asp good luck) dave __________________

Also how many O2 sensors does this car have (Im going to NGK this week) THANKS IN ADVANCE GH welcome. as soon as everyone wakes up this morning im sure there will be plenty of answers for you daws.
Here are three online dealers that I have use. My local dealer refuses to give me a discount. httpwww.trademotion.compartlocat...60&catalogid0 mercedes Parts Center MBZ Wholesales Parts You may need to find the PN in the EPC first and search by PN.
And the SL has only 1 O2 sensor.
New sensors need to be installed. The batteries in the MB sensors are not replaceable but they last five years. The power left can be seen on the Star system next time youre in a shop. How old are the used sensors if they are cheap enough and you are sure they are compatable with your car go for it. New ones cost about 165 each.
Does anyone know if the TPMS can be activated in a vehicle that did not have the option originally after installing the wheel sensors
I think youre on the right track. If I might suggest (you didnt say if you did the analysis on a cold engine) But I would hook up my Carsoft on a cold engine and see if the O2 sensors varied their values as the car warmed up. If the values on a sensor dont change (to tell the computer to lean the fuel mix) then that sensor needs to be replaced. You can have a sensor that is post-cat go bad but it wont
Hi Thanks for your reply and input in this matter. The linked page was very good and informative. Tomorrow I will connect the computer when the engine is cold and monitor the live data as it warms up. Then hopefully I can determine the condition of my sensors. Bjorn
Tried to zoom in to get a closed look are you sure these are temperature sensors Have attached an overview of the control systems for a 500 both vacuum and electrical that may help.
go to the tire press screen and press the reset on the speedo cluster untill the question cones up about reset the sensors. it should show 4 blank lines then drive it for 5 miles You can look it up in the owners manual
I have problems with mine right now and need some new sensors but after doing the reset using the display it takes he system atleast 10 mins before it throws up my error message so it suggests thats how long it will take to measure the pressures after the reset. I have read articles about activating the sensors by over inflating the tyres resetting the system as described here then deflating them to

like said above the sensors are screwed into the valve stem. once you remove the tire you put a 11mm wrench on the valve stem and then use a t20-25 torx to remove the small screw holding the sensor into the valve stem.
Im thinking that has to be the case on my car as well as there is nothing that would indicate there were ever roll bar sensors on my rear suspension. Im trying to resolve some strange roll bar lightswitch issues so I went there first to see if the switches might be the culprit. Thanks Ill continue to collect information from others and see if that is in fact the case with the 97 as well. Dan
when I was going through the work instructions for replacing rear shocks on my 97 it appears that the roll bar sensors on the rear axles were discontinued in either 95 or 96. The work instructions note that there are non on the 97 std suspension axles (non ADS). WIS says the roll bar sensors attached to the rear axle are ONLY on vehicles prior to 895 mfg date. So any 97s wouldnt have them and most
I should have them on mine but they must have been faulty as the previous owner had removed them but left me with 2 shand ones to fit(still to do that job)so I have to have the bar up all the time otherwise it pops up virtually as soon as you drive off strange that the system does not illuminate the warning light with 2 sensors disconnected.

Here is the wiring diagram for the 695 rollover bar system and the legend No axle
Here is your answer and I would make them pay you now have a copy of the DTB to argue your case.
Hi thanks a lot for this. Actually I already found that document earlier and checked my engine serial number already. And it was not in the list of affected engines. But didnt look carefully enough to find the scenario 2 (no chain problems just faulty magnets). And now I found that my engine is among the affected ones for scenario 2. Does that mean that I have a right to get that fixed for free Because
Hi thanks for your explanation Just checked the prices of the magnets again. 20 at mercedes Parts - Get mercedes Parts at Wholesale Prices or 36 at the MB dealership. Thinking about just replacing all 4 magnets myself. The dealer might give me a discount on replacing the one that brings up the error but will probably not replace the other 3 for free then. Anybody here having some experience in replacing
There are laser jammers which double as parking sensors. Kill two birds .... httpwww.laser-interceptorusa.com...ser-Manual.pdf

Awesome. Im new to this forum today. BTW this was a 76 450SL
1 What. I dont know 2 What. Idle adjustment screw. Unplugging that should not stop the aux. fan. That is the cold start valve. The tape wrap is not correct so someone has effed with it.
