Id like to replace my seatbelts. First theyre 30 years old. Second the drivers side one has damage from DPOs slamming it in the door for years and years. I have a 85 500sl euro and am having an issue where my seatbelt wont unwind so I can pull it out and fasten it around my waste then all of a sudden it unlocks and I can pull it out and buckle up. Any ideas as to the cause and a fix thank you

My 85 380SL has the same problem. I read here recently that the recoilers can be cleanedlubed but elsewhere it said there were plastic gears within that could not be repaired or replaced. It also warned of a very powerful spring inside the housing and to be careful when opening it. My cars belts (happens on both sides) usually self-correct after one or two stops but last night I had to drive a full 20-mins before the drivers side finally unstuck itself and I could buckle up.

Three or four times over the last year my car has gone into limp mode almost every time while driving on the freeway. No errors on the system display turning the car off for a minute or two and starting it back up gets it back up and running. The pulsing lights on my SL55 was directly caused by a bad voltage regulator. Replaced that per excellent instructions in this forum and no more issues.
