You cant get thru the back seat ( the fuel tank is there) are the doors really locking and unlocking If not your PSE is not running to provide the lock unlock pressurevacuum. I have suggested this and it worked for one person. The pump is under the rear seat and produces pressure to unlock and vacuum to lock apply a little pressure to the yellow line (it took only a lttle stroke of a bicycle pump). I hope you did not get the cargo net caught its push the lock and pull up otherwise
There are no messages on the dashboard of such malfunction... When rotating the key in the trunk lock to the described positions in the manual the central locking system works it unlocks and locks the car. but when I hold it to the left and press up nothing... the windows just go down. I am running out of options and my service guy wants to go through the back seats... idk if fuel pump is on the way
yes i think i might call mercedes to see what they have to say. hopefully they wont charge ridiculously high for the service.

The information we have is in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia under Soft Close. It may not be as detailed as one might want but give it a try.
This should help you out a bit some pics in the file with instruction.
Thanks for the info. The biggest problem is that lock is loose seems I may be missing screws. I had seen ziptie holding parts of lock to frame I have lots of unplugged wires I guess I am missing some parts.
So I had taken out my lock and I see that black round box is broken along tabs. When I was playing with trunk unlock it seems that was trying to lock the trunk no unlock at lock. So I am missing square nut does anyone knows source for it Is there how to on repairing it. I someone puting electrical tape.

Check fuses 13 and 62. Fuse 13 is in the left side panel in the engine compartment. Fuse 62 is under the footwell courtesy light panel below the right rear passenger seat. See httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsw220...5-s55-amg.html for a fuse chart (since yours if you have one is likely in the trunk). Also To open the trunk using the steel key that is part of your Smartkey you must insert the key turn the
. meka Im going move your post into the W220 Forum where youll find some folks with cars similar to yours. Welcome to benzWorld and good luck resolving your trunk lock issue.
Had similar problem with my E430 only manual opening with key and press o turn opened the lock. The error was that the cable from the locking device was damaged. so it was blocked. feature is that when the car is unlocked with the remote and pressing the bolt so affected mickro switch and closes an electrical circuit to start central engine which in turn gives air to the tailgate lock and it opens.
Thanks for the help... The part 220-750-0091 is not the issue. I pulled the latch switch out and probed the micro switches with a meter and they appear to be working fine. I did a test for the remote and pushing the latch button in and it looks like the PSE module A37 is not sending 12v to the to the remote trunk lid opening valve. All the other PSE functions seem to be working (doors locking etc) This part number is 220-800-0248. Question is does it need to be programmed...and how do you do this where can I get this part so it does not cost an arm and a leg meka Im going move your post into the W220 Forum where youll find some folks with cars similar to yours. I have an 00 s430 and the trunk is lockable. I am going to take a wild guess and say that yours does too. There is no reason why MB would have changed this. Do you have Keyless Go If so I dont know anything about that system. If the 04 is like the 00 your electronic key has a metal removable key built in it. This key is used to manually unlock the doors. This same key is used to lock the trunk and
Finally called MB roadside assistance. but the technician had no idead about this mercedes. He looked all around called back the MB assistance but never could figure any thing out. As I stated I took the black plastic box out for repair and then accidentlly closed the trunk. So I know metal key wont work as there is no mechanism for it to work. Then how can it got locked what are the other option Please please give me some thoughts. Thanks.

To my surprice how can it got locked with out such michanism I hope I answered your question. Thanks.
My question is this if you removed the lock mechanism to super glue the problem so many of us have how did your trunk lock without the latch The part you superglue is attached to the latch that locks and you couldnt have re-assembled the piece without it. How did that happen Ive had trunk problems for a while and pretty familiar with this piece by now.
Thanks guys. OK. I opened the back seat part. Now after crowling into the trunk what do I do Where is the imergency trunk opener switch Is there a such thing OR I have to mess with the locking mechanism itself Please advise. Thanks again.
Welcome to the forum. Please check the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia sticky near the top of each W220 page. Under the heading Body see the links regarding Soft close problems. Your problem sounds like the lock actuator diaphragm (or its case) has ruptured. Some people have had success re-sealing the case there are photos in the links. On occasion however folks have had to repair the entire mechanism the
Sounds like the failure mode similar to mine. When the cage of the hockey puck breaks between the two molded halves the air bladder contained within overexpands towards the trunk lid instead of pushing onto the latch. I have had success for several months now with taping the hockey puck. First tried electrical tape but the heat wore it out quickly. Duct tape strips cut lengthwise work great. Just be
So if your locked out of your car what do you do Also for me it wasnt an issue of power it was an issue of the locking mechanicm
If youre locked out you have to use your manual key to open the door of the car and plug in to pass side under carpet.. if your battery is completely dead your locked out of your car and you lost your key well then youve got bigger problems..
I wasnt locked out of my car I was lock out of my trunk. I was just saying even the MBZ guy couldnt get im in the trunk. The actuator latched and wouldnt release. This was the ONLY way in. The other guy said his key wasnt working but I will say having the jumper inside is a blessing not something to be unhappy about. Thanks glad to know
No prob.. I am surprised every time by the amount of people who dont know this even experts.. I saw a MB mech. do that when his employee locked the trunk on an S600 with an uncharged batt.
Can anyone tell exactly which fuse under the rear seat this is I looked at all of my fuses but non are blown. I had to jump start the car and since the locking soft close doors and trunk are havent worked. Any thoughts

There are photos of the trunk lock and release mechanism in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia sticky.

Thank you everyone who responded to this message. I did successfully replace my alternator (mercedes calls it a generator) over the weekend and thought I would share the proceedure to do that. I didnt take pictures but hopefully the step-by-step removal procedure will be helpful for others looking to do this. I have a 2006 s430 so the following steps refer to this type of car 1.
