MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Front Lower control arms Question

Hey guys I was wondering if the clk55 uses the the same lower control arms as the clk430 or the clk320 Mines are definitely Broken cuz the ride in my 55 is probably one of the most uncomfortable rides ive ever felt...It just shakes all over the place Thanks in advance

So I had my suspension checked and the guy says that they seem to be in good order...I also called MB and asked about lower control links He basically called and left me a message telling me that it would cost 400 to get fixed Now ive been calling him everyday for the last 4-5 days to ask what the control links are...Finally do you guys think the bad ride quality could be because of bad tires

Hello all. I hit a curb on my driver side and the ABSBASESP trio errors appeared . now the cars pulls heavy right. If i drive safely no error lights come. Cool. Soo I tested the cars stability and nearly floored it from 15-60 and quickly braked back down. (The road was empty and smoooove] )No shake. wobble. or feeling of loss of control. BUT the BASABSESP lights reappeared until I restarted the car.

W208s ride and handle decently but thats all. Improving on the original design is noble but lost after tightening it up or tweaking out the slop. Unless you throw out pretty much the whole front suspension including the old ass numb steering box and antiquated pitman rods upper control arms are a bandaid at best. But If you feel you must its only logical to upgrade the brakes to match. Then the trans.

MERCEDES BENZ CLK II 209 Worn Suspension question

Took my 2004 clk320 with about 80k on it to the dealer for a alignment had a coupon. front tire was wearing on the outside edge over the last few weeks. Got the dreaded call at 1pm that there is a problem. Was told that the Thrust arm Bushings C Racked and Leaking. I ask is that the lower control arm and was told no. My question is what is the thrust arm bushing c racked I looked at some front suspension diagrams and only saw the control arms and anti-roll stuff. Thanks Rick

It looks like a typo on the MB document. C Racked should be cracked. About the thrust arm component. It is always a problem with parts that can have different names... There are only a few on the front suspension that have bushes though.. upper and lower control arms and the stabilizer bar. Take a look at Parts.com website for your clk 320 year 2004 and head for front suspension parts. There are diagrams

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Kleemann suspension install

Greetings all. First-time poster long-time reader. After doing my homework for a couple of years Im set to have a local (Orlando) shop install the full Kleemann suspension (4 springs 4 shocks) on my 02 clk 55 coupe this Thursday. To combat excessive negative camber Ill be using M-Bs correction bolts in the front (for now) and House of Powers adjustable upper control arms in the rear. My last remaining

Welcome to benzworld Im not sure if anyone has the Kleemann setup here but your absolutely right having the right materials will definately reduce costs. Make sure they get the front correct. You can always redo the rear(change bushings) yourself as its a lot easier than the front. I used Eibach with 1 pad on front and stock on rear with oem shocks on 19s. My mechanic was able to pop out the stock

of the Slammed look. I am also using a full KMAC kit front and rear the kit replaces both of the front inner control arm bushings and also replaces the rear inner control arm bushings and the existing factory rear toe adjustment bushings. The fronts look like they give you a ton of adjustment so i dont think there should be an issue there but the back doesnt seem as much. Rember unlike the speedybenz

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 WheelBrakeSuspension problems

Whats up everyone First off I would like to appologize cuz this might be a long post. I have a 99 clk320 and last night I was pulling out of my neighborhood making a right turn and I heard this popping noise come from the front passenger side wheel... MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Lower Control Arm Fails-BOOM-Rust. Need tips on repair.

Lower Control arm Fails-BOOM-Rust. Need tips on repair. Have spent about an hour reading posts on the forum after doing a search for control arm. Seems no one has had a catastrophic failure but me. Just came off the highway on commute home after a late night at the office. Hwy speed is 78 MPH for about 60 miles. Had been off the hwy about 8 minutes stopped at a car wash bay after wash when pulling

Bad luck - it must be the road salt eroding the metal.. Did you find this thread below It covers some of your topic here. Ref bushings included...I looked at parts.com and the image of the front suspension components available there. I think that they listprice separately Item 6. lower control arm Item 7. bushings Item 16. bushing bracket httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsw208...ng-damper.html

MERCEDES BENZ CLK II 209 anyone have suspension diagram clk500

looking to get some part numbers and names of the part looking to see if anyone have a suspension diagram mainly looking to replace the thrust arms in the front....but i believe they are called something else ...and i cannot make out if its upper or lower arms help thanks

The 209 front suspension information is on several different drawings - some of which overlap the others. One small problem is the nomencleture... MB often refers to an item by different names eg the stabilizer bar is sometimes called torsion bar. Tie rod is also called link rod. Most confusing... One important thing to understand is detailed on drawing SI33.00-P-0300P. All tightening of threaded connections

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Yet another suspension question

Hey guys.. So I was able to complete the rear shocks and springs camber bar install. It was VERY easy to do using the lowering of the rear a-arm method. I have not made the attempt to complete the front yet. I would be able to install the springs and shocks just fine but the K-mac front camber kit is pretty intimidating. I know that some of you have installed this... any suggestions or comments on

to show it off a little So here is where I am at on the springshock install. I completed the back no problem but I didnt think that it was possible to do the camber kit in the front by my self..Without a press...I was right. I was going to take the whole car into the shop and have them do the front springsshocks camber kitalignment.. but the shops around are WAY overpriced.. most of them here mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Control Arm Bushings when to replace symptoms

Does anyone know when to replace them and what are the symtoms when they start to go bad

How many miles on your car How hard do you drive it. Have you replaced any other front suspension and steering parts. One thing usually leads to another. When I replaced my springs and shocks wmod parts at 30K I took the car to a MB dealer to align the front end and they told me my lower control arm bushings were shot. At 30K NOT

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Bolts when replacing lower control arms whats the story

Bolts when replacing lower control arms whats the story Replacing the original LCAs with new stock. What is this about replacing the bolts on the LCAs Seems I am not supposed to use the original bolts but instead replace them with new camber bolts. Why cant I use the take off bolts on the new LCA I dont get it. Can someone clear this up Thanks

This is how understand the MB philosophy on replacing used nutbolts. 1. On items like the cylinder head the bolts are stretched during the tightening process and MB advise discarding them and replacing with new. 2. On some other areas (suspension & brake calipers are typical examples) MB use self-locking nuts which they also expect you to discard after removal. My view is that you can use Loctite (or

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 ClunkingPopping from front end.

2002 clk55 Convertible with 39k miles. A few months ago I noticed a moderate clunk when turning right and up into my driveway. the sound would come and go. Recently had a free MB Tech Session at the local benz dealership where they go over several points with you. Technician diagnosed a leaking drivers side motor mount and lower control arm bushings that had a very very slight amount of play. He said

Update Im convinced..this is not due to wheels or at least not solely due to wheels. It makes no sense that wheels would be the culprit when Im (as an example) at a stoplight in downtown DC in 90 degree temps. Top down (as I always do) I gently pull away and within 2-3 seconds I hearslightly feel a thunk just under the drivers side footwell area.Ive also felt it in the passenger side footwell area

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Anybody Done MB Front Camber Bolts

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Why different bolts on Lower Control Arms same car.

Why a camber bolt on only one side of the vehicle Am replacing both front LCAs wstock. The passenger side failed--broke into two pieces so am replacing both front LCAs. No mod just replacing with stock configuration Deeza LCAs. Started project and discovered three things 1. The drivers coil spring is broken about 4 inches up on the lower base of the coil. I have ordered 2 new OEM springs. 2. The drivers

MERCEDES BENZ CLK II 209 clk 240 Front Brake Judder

Hi All First post so treat me gently I have a 2003 clk 240 (166k miles) that has developed a persistent brake judder which comes right up through the steering wheel. I have had new disks new pads had the disks skimmed everything cleaned and dusted. Each time the judder goes away for a while then returns. It is most pronounced at around 6omph and then again at around 25-35 mph. My (independant but excellent)

Heres a couple of things to check. First the sway bar bushings. They are bad about melting onto the bar which causes it to not be able to move and can give you some odd shudders. My advice is to go ahead and get news ones and replace them while inspecting - they probably need it anyhow. Also the control (or the correct term is thrust) arm bushings also tend to harden and crack. If they are worn you

MERCEDES BENZ CLK I 208 Front End Creaking

Does anyone else have this problem. I only here it when going over speed bumps and I get a big compression on the shocks. The creak is comeing from the front passenger side. In the last 2 years Ive replaced shocks and ball joints. I had the car into the dealer in December for vibration in the front end (forgot to mention the creaking) and they told me everything up front looks good and within tolerances. Any idea what the creak could be Control arms Tie Rods

Hey chem. It depends on the creak. First thought would be sway bar bushings easy enough to DIY and pretty inexpensive as well. There are also trailing arm bushings and of course the CA bushings. Did you change the shocks chasing the noise If so you can probably eliminate the rubber bushings on them. I have also (but much more rarely) heard a worn tie-rod end make a creaking noise. Too bad you didnt

replace your entire tie-rod assembly (and steering damper) that will get rid of most of the problems. there is a low probability it may be your upper suspension control arms but they rarely fail.
