MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S III 140 replacing the ABS (wheel speed) sensor

Tomorow I will get a new abs front left sensor (comes with a lot of wire harness ... together with brake pad wear sensor harness) and I want to replace it on my own. abs and ASR lights came on occasionally. The mechanics tester showed fault code signal from left front abs sensor. Sometimes when we rotated the wheel the tester did not show any speed and sometimes we did not rotate it when the tester

The black plastic tip on the pad sensor cable is supposed to be there. Sounds like it was missing from the other wire. You DO NOT want to use a screw or other hard metal pin for the purpose. The pad sensor is just a piece of soft copper wire in a plastic pin which holds it in the pad. As the pad wears the SINGLE wire contacts the brake rotor (which is at ground potential) and completes the circuit

Hi Guys I really need some help on this issue. I have a mercedes w211 e320cdi 2004. I had replaced the front passenger side suspension arm and after that the car has come up with abs and ESP error. Hi im looking for a speed sensor output on my car. does anybody know which wire or which pin on the abs computer would give me this I have a toyota 1jzgte engine installed and need the speed sensor to allow the toyota auto to function correctly. I still have my abs computer installed as per factory so thought this would be the best place. my speedo still works where does it get its speed information from many thanks

Ok i think iv found the wire. for any of you looking for this in the future it runs from the diff into the boot(trunk) then goes from there to the front of the vehicle and taps into the abs computer. there are two wires one is white and the other is yellow and white.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 check abs sensors

C200 -98 classic AUT 280000km I have a problem with my absasr lights being constantly on and the systems not working. Both lights are on immediate after start and always stay on. The lights used to go out before randomly but now they are always on. I have checked fuses changed the break pedal switch and cleaned both front sensors. Did not find any sensors at the rear wheels so I suppose there is one

have you checked the rear sensor i believe its in the rear axle. there was a thread on here about replacing one a short while ago. the abs system is really hard to troubleshoot without getting the exact codes read with a computer. its kind of a guessing game without them.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 ABS sensor pick-ups replaceable

Hi all Im looking for a third opinion as I have been told two different thing now from parts guys at my local dealership. I have a E230 w210 1997 model car My abs lights came on and after investigating found that the pick-up on the rear passenger side(right hand drive) had broken. Its like a ring that sits on the drive shaft unlike the front witch is just ridges on the wheel hub. To me it looks like

Thanks alot for the reply mate not sure what model exactly the car is but I think I might not have made my question very clear. I think the actual sensor is ok although I have not had it on a diagnostic machine. However the problem I have is the sensor is a magnetic sensor. As the wheel spins the sensor is passed by the pick-up causing the sensor to send signals to the computer. On the front wheel

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W163 ml320 major esp bas abs problem

Searched read many articles but im confused... I have a 01 ml320 with about 130k on it... The abs esp bas lights are all on. They come and go. When they are off this is what happens. I come to complete stop (on my own) to take a left turn (always on left turns) So as i accel and take the left turn the ml sort of jerks stops the flashing triangle comes on for few seconds than i can continue driving

That sounds like a wheel speed sensor problem.. You turn and accelerate hard and the abs brakes and engine power reduction kicks in and you can hear the brakes vibrating trying to reduce the speed of the vehicle because it thinks it is out of control.. You need to have a mercedes benz scannercomputer connected to your vehicle to monitor the speed sensor values and check which sensor goes out of range.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Help Help C320 Brake Problem ESP ABS BAS

I have a 2001 mercedes C320 and it recently started flashing the following error codes on the dash ESP BAS abs and then it said Brake Lining Wear Visit Workshop. I know the light problem has been dealt with on this site in different ways but I am not sure if my problem is similar...but her goes my story. 2001 ML 320...around 4 months ago transmission would not shift from park so I manually over rode it (pen in shifter hole) And that seemed to be fine...Took it into repair but the problem dissapeared Then a short time later ( Few weeks) The far left lights started

On top of this it sounds like the abs system is trying to run at full go and it messes a little bit with my driving before it stops and allows normal operation of the car. I took it to my repair shop not a mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ 124 124 300E ASRABSDealer says ABS Speed Sensor

Hello All The ASR light came on my 1993 300E and I took it to the mercedes dealer and after connecting the car to the computer they stated that the brake switch and the left front speed sensor needed to be replaced. I had them replace the brake switch however they did not have the left front speed sensor part in-stock to replace it so the ASR light is still on. My question is Can the left front abs

I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it and see if the light comes back. Chances are the brake light switch fixed the problem. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G First G500 Steering and ABS Question

Just driven a 2005 G500 for the first time and I was wondering if the steering is supposed to be somewhat stiff At least its stiffer than a normal MB car. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S I 126 Retrofit ABS into non-ABS Differential

I dont have the bits in front of me but was wondering how drastic the difference is between an abs and non-abs equipped differential. Is it possible to make a differential without abs function with Many early models have desirable ratios but its a bit of a pain and to swap the pinion etc. into an abs-equipped unit. My goal is to swap a GT carrier into an abs 3.06 unit - Ive found a good amount of units none with abs and I dont want to lose it.

I didnt swap diffs from a non-abs into a abs unit but I did remove the ASR from my car and swap out the components to a regular abs one. Here were the differences The AST one has two speed sensors one for each half shaft. The regular abs unit has a single abs sensor and a single reluctor ring whereas the ASR unit had dual reluctor rings. The reluctor ring is a toothed ring around the shaft that will

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G 463 Newbie question ABS on a 463

Hi everybody Im new and pondering G ownership....I am hesitating between some ex-German Army 461s (240GD and 250GD) and a civilian 300GD 463 series. I am aware that all of these are pretty slow which I dont mind too much but I am more worried about lack of abs. As far as I can see the 461s never had it so it would probably be impossible to instal right How about the permanent four wheel drive 463 300GD

Of course it is possible to retrofit abs into a 463. Question is whether you are willing to spend the money needed to do so. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 abs warning. light on c180 w203

Can anyone help my abs light is stuck on. The computer flashes brake pad wear visit workshop plus abs bas eps not working. Also the speedo has stopped working and the milage isnt going up please help.

the brake pad warning goes off when your brake pads are worn down to the minimum (you need to change them soon). there is one pad wear sensor in front and one in back (cant recall which wheels). the abs and other stuff may or may not be related. the absesp uses wheel speed sensors at each wheel connected to a computer. I suspect one of your speed sensors is not working. You really need to take it to a shop. The dealer should have a scanner that can read what set off the abs light.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 ABS light goes on during driving

Hey guys So after driving and a bit braking the abs lights up. Now the only thing that has changed is that I put today some new front tires. I used to have 4x 20560 R15 but one got busted due to a sidewalk and due to financial difficulties I couldnt afford a new one and a friend gave me 6x tires 18555 R15... And now the car has 20560 rear and 18555 front it is a tiny bit lower but seems to be within

I believe that that much of a discrepancy is enough to throw the abs computer off. It is a 6.77% difference in tire size according to the calculator. However the front wheels are turning 7.262% quicker than the rears. This is enough to make the abs computer throw a warning. Ideally you should have all 4 tires the same size and most manufacturers recommend you stay within 3% of the original tire size.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS M W163 Yaw Rate Sensor and ESPBAS light

My 2001 ML 320 is having the ESPBAS light problem accompanied by four episodes of the car locking up one of the wheels as though the ESP thinks were going into a spin (even though we may be driving at 30 mph on a straightaway). I took the car into the dealer and intially got a computer code indicating a problem with the abs pump -- which I didnt believe because that shouldnt make only one wheel lock

The BASESP light problem can go on for quite a while without any symptoms (e.g. the brakes engaging suddenly). In fact if it werent for the fact that Ive actually had the ESP kick in out of the blue -- thus scaring the daylights out of my wife and me -- I would have just left the dashboard light alone. My MB dealership told me When the light goes on it indicates the computer has detected a fault in

Randomly and unpredictably and in no discernable order my (abs) light (TCS) light and speedometer will come on and off. Sometimes when the speedometer is reading zero (and I know Im doing about 70) the yellow exclaimation point will flash and the speedometer will start working again. Sometimes I go somwhere and everything works without a sign of a problem. Other times the abs and TCS light come on

Thank you for your thoughts. I thought about the wheel sensors too but how would that affect the speedometer isnt the speedometer information derived from the transmission One other point one the computer senses a bad wheel sensor doesnt it shut off the abs system until the sensor is replaced and someone resets the computer - in my case it goes on and off.

Whenever the ESP or abs are whacko the cruise control is programmed to NOT engage or stay engaged. When I had the oem Continental tires on mine I could hit very shallow water on the freeway (as in wear grooves) at less than 50mph. Thanks Shawn

If a wheel sensor goes out then its very obvious to the computer systems in the vehicle. The abs will be disabled immediately and you will get the warning light on the dash. If you dont have an abs light Its almost certain the wheel sensors are good. Also a faulty sensor would be reported to the Star diagnostic system so your mechanic should be able to make the determination. I think I was charged

wheels have a lot to do with such problems. they (diameter) affect signals in abs sensors and if these signals are not logical to the computer you can have troubles. still your abs sensor might be bad like you already noticed. you need to experiment and use logic. code reader can also help you.
