Hello guys. i have a 1988 benz 190E fitted with a carburator. initially it had fuel injection system but the divider got bust so had to resort to puting a carburator. everything is running well but it seems the fuel consumption is realy high.is there a way to adjust the carburator to use less fuel and reduce consumption i have attached a pic of the engine maybe u can advise. I saw a 230e 1987 for sale. The E is supposed to be injection but it realy looks likes it has a carburator (with a big black elipse cover near the engine). Is it possible they made this model with carb. It also makes strong sound when I change from drive to reverse. What should I check

Its fuel injection. Tha big black oval thing is the air box that contains the air filter. It has three bolts holding it one on the valve cover one behind it and one near the throttle linkage. Lift it straight up and underneath you will see the fuel distributer.

Anyone use these regularly If so which do you prefer Ive read that MB recommends using gas containing additives (Chevron) but not to use extra additives that you put in the tank yourself. About 3 months ago my cruise control started operating intermittently then finally stopped working. Just after this I noticed the car was idling at around 1100 rpm. When my throttle body was diagnosed as being the faulty unit I asked the technician very directly about the state of my CC electronincs and was assured that they were in good working order. Thanks for answering. I suspect wir harness because most of the usual things like ignitionparts are changed. Ive read some where that the carburator has a heating of som kind electrical heating. When RPM runs around 1.000 RPM and engine wont throttle up it seems like a choke problem or maybe the heating. So from time to time I push and pull the wireing around the carb around. Is your 2.0 a carburated M102 engine The model desgination would be 190 since the E designation is for Einspritzer. Assuming that it is the carb model its likely the Fallstrom-Registervergaser Pierburg 2 E-E unit which was a hybrid carburator part mechanical and part electronic. If the throttle plate in the carb is sticking open after shutoff then you will get the dieseling.

Yes MB have had w124 with vergaser. Two types of it. Stromberg and Pierburg carburator. Mine is pierburg 2ee. It is 1989. On the choke flap comes cable from the computer (i think thats the computer) that stays behind the battery and right now the cable is connected. When I remove the cable flap stays wide open and on full throttle engine turns off.
