MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Faulty Camshaft Adjuster Question

Does anyone have any experience with faulty camshaft adjusters My wifes C230 Kompressor (2005) has been making a strange rattling sound when started for about 6 months and she recently took it to our local mercedes dealership. She took it in for the annual service and upon arriving found out their was a recall of the camshaft solenoid. The camshaft solenoid was replaced and the dealership determined

The adjuster and the solenoid are related but only because the solenoid is what controls the adjuster. Basically what you have on the front of each camshaft is a gear that is driven by the timing chain. Without variable valve timing that gear would simply be forged onto the end of the camshaft and timing would be dictated by that gears relative position to the crankshaft via teeth on the timing chain.

Hi. I wonder if anyone has come across this problem before. Ive search the forums and cant see anything related but I may have missed a thread so apologies if thats the case. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Camshaft Pos Sensor Symptom

Can camshaft position sensor cause engine hesitant to start Parked car and returned in 2 hours tried to start it will crank for some 5-6 seconds before it rolls over. It doesnt happen every time - could be once every 10 times or once every 2 months. Tachometer meter needle doesnt move a bit while cranking or it would slightly stumble a bit before shooting up to 2000 then dropping down to normal 500 rpm. Car otherwise runs perfect. Any hints

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 P0341 camshaft sensor -Error wont go away

On my 1997 E320 with the inline 6 engine 190000 miles I have replace the camshaft and crank position sensors but I still get P0341 error. I have had a local benz specialist look at it and he is not sure why the error keeps comming back. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Crankshaft Camshaft Pos Sensor

Can anyone confirm that none of the MB cars have both a crank PS and a cam PS

KPS stand for. 5 and 17 are the item numbers based on the diagram. 5 is near the rear of the engine so it is the crankshaft position sensor which has a code name of L5. 17 is the camshaft PS which has a code name of B6. OPs terminology is KPS for crankshaft PS and CPS for camshaft PS (I think and that is why I said using his terminology). That might be where the confusion comes from. Officially mercedes

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E III 211 Car warranty not void (headerscamshaft)

Hey. Ive recently just been told from my mercedes dealer that my car warranty is not void if the engine screws up because of these 2 mods i have gotten in it from kleemann. Even though the mods were installed by the mercedes workshop. Sooo.... what would be the best thing to do If my car screws up then what... Will it screw up.. lol Thanks..

Mods are always a gamble. When push comes to shove itll be you against mercedes. If the mod has no bearing on the issue (e.g. headers cant make the headlights stop working) then mercedes will honor the warranty. But if its anywhere near related (e.g. you burn some valves when you have non-factory headers) then good luck trying to fight it. In the end its your risk. My rule of thumb is never mod until

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 M111 camshaft failure common issue

Bought my C220 a few months ago as a first car. 2 weeks later one of the camshafts snapped. Ended up replacing the motor(and most of the electrics such as the wiring harness) as it was cheaper than replacing the valves etc. The motor had done over 260000 ks but i thought it would have lasted longer being a benz however I dont know how it was driven previously. Was wondering if the camshaft failing was a common issue due to the hydrollic tensioner on the M111 engine.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 E200 Camshaft failure

Hi All My 2001 E200 Kompressor died last week because of a broken inlet camshaft. I see from another thread here that this can be caused by an overtightened timing chain and indeed someone had this engine open before for whatever reason. Ive not gone beyond the cam but the valves etc look okay but that is just a visual inspection. My question is Apart from the cam what else is likely to be busted.

Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah there are some beautiful places here but it rains alot. Im gonna get a mercedes specialist to look at it and if the valves are ok then replace the camshaft timing chain and tensioner. The problem with a replacement engine is all the hassle and cost you go to that you lose if the engine is faulty even if its guaranteed. If the cost of fixing my engine is too high then I will sell the car as is. I will let you know what happens.

The oil would be in the wiring connecting to the camshaft sensors. I have added a photo below showing where these are.
