MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G G500 - Starting Issues after NEW CPS & Camshaft Senors

Ok here goes... I have a 2004 G500 with about 98k miles on it. I had started to have an issue where it would not start just crank and nothing. After it cooled down it would start... I was driving home and it shutoff and I couldnt get it to start back up. After it cooled fired up. Got it home and figured I would get to it next weekend. Im ashamed to say it has been about 8 months and of course the battery

Afterwards I detached the battery to reset the system as I did not follow the instructions the first

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Faulty Camshaft Adjuster Question

Does anyone have any experience with faulty camshaft adjusters My wifes C230 Kompressor (2005) has been making a strange rattling sound when started for about 6 months and she recently took it to our local mercedes dealership. She took it in for the annual service and upon arriving found out their was a recall of the camshaft solenoid. The camshaft solenoid was replaced and the dealership determined

The adjuster and the solenoid are related but only because the solenoid is what controls the adjuster. Basically what you have on the front of each camshaft is a gear that is driven by the timing chain. Without variable valve timing that gear would simply be forged onto the end of the camshaft and timing would be dictated by that gears relative position to the crankshaft via teeth on the timing chain.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S IV 220 S600 M275 Cylinder head (PCV system) question

Tracking down an oil consumption plug fouling and misfire issue has led me to remove the pressure valve that diverts the crank case ventilation from the driver side oil separator to either the right manifold (partial load) or the charge air intake (full load). I discovered the diaphram inside the valve is completely disintegrated. Upon further investigation it looks like the seal ring that surrounds

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S III 140 m104 valve timing system need to replace

Hello guys I have one question first sorry for my english i know is not the best just not my native and a lot of words who i must use here is new for me. I hope i can do this I have W140 300SE with m104.990 engine (231 hp). In the latest months i was do a big repair on the engine (almost evrything)... after the repair i have a problems with my cam timing system (i will post picture because i am not

First youve done a pretty good job with your English The easiest way to find out if the parts are the same between the two engines would be to access the mercedes parts lists and compare the part numbers. Its called the EPC around here (Electronic Parts Catalog). I am sure someone here can help out. I dont have the links to the EPC. The one important thing to remember is that the camshaft is always

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 MB 2002 c230 jamming camshaft gear

Does anyone know about a jamming camshaft gear

Ive never heard of that but maybe the mechanic is referring to a problem with the camshaft adjuster These engines have a variable valve timing system that use a clutch type device to alter the camshaft angle relative to the timing chain. If that is failing it could make some noise but youd probably also get some error codes.

MY2002 C230 has variable valve timing Its the M111 engine rite Meanwhile I dont notice the M112 engine has variable valve timing in the SOHC configuration. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S III 140 I need an advice about camshaft adjuster removal

Hi can somebody with experiences tell me how to check variable camshaft adjuster. i hope this will be the last episode in saga about rough idle. i found out that the left adjuster does not function like the right one. So maybe the spring(s) or something else is broken. the questions are 1) what i need to do i have alldata.diy access so i have basics but sometimes it is good to check before disassemble

yes this thing timing adjusters solenoid. behind it so fixed on intake cam there is pretty complicated hydraulic system for changing timing of the intake cam. i want to check this system.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 M111 camshaft failure common issue

Bought my C220 a few months ago as a first car. 2 weeks later one of the camshafts snapped. Ended up replacing the motor(and most of the electrics such as the wiring harness) as it was cheaper than replacing the valves etc. The motor had done over 260000 ks but i thought it would have lasted longer being a benz however I dont know how it was driven previously. Was wondering if the camshaft failing was a common issue due to the hydrollic tensioner on the M111 engine.

Ive been dealing with my girlfriends 95 C200 so many problems... Its a hand-me-down from the parents but would have been better & cheaper to sell it for scrap and buy another. The original engine blew a piston through the head at around 300000kms after sitting parked for a month then driven on the highway. The replacement engine was a South African version which didnt need expensive coding doesnt use

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Camshaft sensor failure no fuel pressure

On my C240 the engine died while going 70 MPH on the interstate I coast to an exit ramp and try to start but no luck. Called AAA and had car towed. Engine cranks fine but will not start No pressure in the fuel rail. Fuses checked OK. Based on that I replace the Crankshaft Sensor. The ECM uses this sensor to determine if the engine is spinning and thus commands the fuel pump. I measure the impedance

Bill thanks for the input you are absolutely right on the functionality of a camshaft sensor in relation to the Bosch ME 2.8 ECU. It will not cause this problem. The crankshaft sensor may cause it but also the fuel pump control circuit in the rear SAM can cause it too. The fuel pump control circuit in the rear SAM was my problem and it is fixed. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS G Flexible Service System...trustworthy

Hey all For those who own a G500 after 1999 do you trust the Flexible Service system For those who do not know FSS is a computer system that tells you when to service your G. It supposedly monitors a multitude of things including how hard you drive oil quality engine load etc.. For my driving the system tells me to change my oil every 12-13K miles. For me i change my oil every 6K miles with major service

Oil lasts a LOT longer in todays tightly toleranced tightly regulated engines. In addition I suspect you are using a synthetic oil (hopefully not that Mobil 1 trash[xx(]) as well. If you doubt it oil analysis is easy and inexpensive. It backs up the ability of the oil to go 12k miles without substantial degredation. I know of a Porsche 928 owner that for two years religiously tested his oil and found

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S III 140 Camshaft adjuster & timing chain removal need advice

I am slowly preparing for a final act in repairing the rough idle. I suspect my left camshaft adjuster is bad. few months ago 12 VDC on a solenoid (at idle) slightly decreased idle quality but few days ago the same action did not have any effect at all. So it seems the adjuster died completely. the solenoid has 55 ohm resistance exactly the same as the right one. I will swap the solenoids to confirm

OK. So you were finally able to confirm the stuck adjuster. Good for you. What an adventure. I dont know if it will solve your original issue but good to know that is fixed. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Crankshaftcamshaft position sensor

hey i have read the forums on the CPS sensors and i have all the common symptons a a failure of these pieces but CPS can mean either crank position sensor and cam position sensor. does anyone know how to tell which one is bad is there a way to test the sensors once removed form car i am goign to try running OBD II scanner but i know they rarely throw codes so i was wondering if there was a mechanicalelectircal test that could be done to check for problmes and info is appreciated thanks

Bad CPS will not prevent the engine cranking. It will simply not fire up. If the engine doesnt crank it might be bad battery (radio means nothing) or something wrong with ignition system.

I agree with Kajtek1 here. The radio draws such little power that it can still work even if you have a very weak battery. I think a better battery test is to see if the headlights work or not. But even there they also consume less power than starting the engine. I think an intermittant problem is almost certainly electrical in nature and the ignition system is another good place to trouble-shoot. I would start with the ignition switch itself.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 Camshaft - Crankshaft sensors

Can anyone tell me the difference between camshaft and crankshaft sensors how they work and how can I tell which one is bad cause my car is shuting off when it gets hot about 34 of the temp. gage and after 15 minutes I can start it back again and drive for while untill it heats up again. first I thought it was fan clutch not working and the car overheats and shuts off but it does not go pass the 34 of the gage and I am confused Need help quick Please

It is usually the Crank Position Sensor that actually makes the car shut down. If it starts back up after it cools down its likely that one. Of course the Cam Pos Sensor is the easier one to replace... I did both of them as a precaution. Both sensors are used for referance for timing the Ignition & Fuel systems. Search Crank Position Sensor and you will find the thread I started last year with pictures

I have a 1977 350SE with 103000 easy miles on the odo. There is significant wear on 1 lobe of the R camshaft.
