MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Which Brake Discs and Pads for 112CDi (1999)

Hello All I need to replace the brake discs and pads on the front of my mercedes Vito and wondered if anyone could recommend any that have improved braking From searching the forums it seems that there isnt anything and that the brakes on the W638 Vito are renowned for being rubbish Also does anyone know if a tried and tested supplier to get them from - Ive seen a set on ebay for front brake discs

the lower priced ones are frequently mintex or ferodo both are major brands and I (personally) have used them many times on vito and other vehicles........ they work well with ABS. If you have a non-ABS vehicle (I just got one and will not fit ABS til the better weather comes (I dont have a garage and the ground is very cold and wet)) then you want a set of pads with greater grip i.e. softer. The harder

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 PLS HELP W203 Front Brake Pads Discs replacement Questions

Hi I am new to this forum. Apologies in advance if I broke any rule. I own C180 Kompressor Elegance W203 2005 Model. Reg BL54NGF I have few questions about Front brake pads discs replacement I hope there will be somebody kind to help me out. 1 - I recently start getting little knocking sound when i press the brake gently coming down from 50MPH to 40MPH and then 30MPH. Note sure where this comes

Im not sure I can buy that as a solution. It seems to me that the lug bolts would secure the rotor tightly in place on the hub regardless of the set screw being in place or not. My guess is that the caliper slides have dust and grime build up on them or are scored which caused some binding when applying the brakes. I would recommend cleaning the slides and applying some high-temp grease. Also if you

Yeah Ive taken all four wheels off since the warning light came on inside the dash and checked all the sensors. Does anybody know the front and back brake disc minimum limit so i can check with a vernier calipers

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 v230 brake discs and pads changed

Hi again I recently changed the ball joints on my v230 after deciding to take on most of the maintenance myself my next challenge was the brake discs and pads. Im pleased to say changing the discs and pads was a relitively easy job I was suprised that everything went well as when working on cars something always seems to pop up and go wrong for any one else wishing to save themselves a fortune and

theres a couple of dust caps on your calipers that prevent the dust getting in you just prise them off. Cheers Ad.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Question on Brake Pads

What does this mean brake pads F 1mm R 2mm before sensor brake Rotors F 24.6MM MIN 22.4MM R 8.7MM MIN 7.3MM I got this in mercedes inspection report. Also how many MM between sensor and the brake disc

guess is - it needs single piston and the type is disc. Is that correct Hey Carromkid yes you are correct..You have 4 wheel disc brakes so rotors (also known as brake discs) all the way around. Check out the sponser section on the left sidecolumn of this page. Definitely find pads from many of the spnsers... and rotors too if you need them. Heres one of many DIYs out there. MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Getting ready to change brake pads....confused as to which pads I need Help

Ok guys Im getting ready to do a brake pad change on my 2004 C230 Kompressor (I have about 30K miles the brake light has NOT come on yet) I am getting ready to order the pads... Mine has the factory cross-drilled front discs. I guess all the C230s have that but just want to be sure here There are several pads listed. I know this is probably a stupid question but does my C230 need the Front brake Pad

Thanks for the reply...thing is I would like to order them online. I was going to order PAGID brand pads. They only list the two options I stated in my first post... My discs are factory cross-drilled and the calipers look pretty big and say mercedes benz printed very large on the caliper... Anyone know if this is considered the EvolutionSports brakes Do all C230 Sedans have front calipers that say mercedes benz on them Thanks

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito - Changing front and rear discs pads

Just changed the front and rear discs and pads on my vito CD112i. I followed the info in the Peter Russek manual. But heres a few extra bits. Front discs After 68K miles both front discs were rusted onto the wheel hub. Also the phillips head screw holding the discs to the hubs was firmly rusted in place too. After a failed attempt using a blow touch I drilled both screws out and used an M8 tap (1.00)

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C III 204 Rotors Calipers Pads - Need Help

Heya everyone My gf has a 2011 C300 4matic Sport and was notified she needs front rotors calipers and pads (Ill replace the sensors as well). According to a local shop the calipers didnt wear the pads evenly and the inner pads reduced to metal grinding. Rotors I hear good things regarding Zimmermans but supposedly their coating rubs off quickly so what really makes them better compared to OE other

Ive put Akebono pads on my C320CDI and couldnt be more pleased with them. Bought them from Rock Auto. They have good feel they have plenty of stopping power and hardly an atom of brake dust. As for new calipers I think youre being gouged or the mechanics are being lazy not thinking it through or both. I agree with other posters that its extremely unlikely calipers would need replacing on a 2011 model.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 adjustment on 612d brake calipers

anyone know how to take the adjustment of the rear brake calipers on a mercedes 612d vario

I assume you are refering to the foot brake as you say calipers. Hydraulic calipers are NOT adjustable they are termed self adjusting when you press the pedal fluid is pushed into the piston and the calipers tighten. when you release pressure some fluid goes back into the pipes (it was under pressure) and the spinning brake disc forms a cushion of air that pushes the caliper further away and the pistons

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Brake disc and calipers upgrade

Good night. He would like to improve the brakes on my 300TD. Does anyone know what the best kit there for The braking system w220 320 cdi for example fits Thanks

replacing calipers along with discs can be expensive. if you want good braking get a good set of oem quality brake pads like pagid textar mintex. also flush the brake fluid with a good dot 4 fluid. mb has good braking system but you should get oem quality brake pads cheap aftermarket pads wont stop as good and also will wear faster. get german pads not the cheap turkish ones.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S IV 220 Brake Job for S500 year 2000-Best brake pads

I have a 2000 S500 with 79k miles. Im going to attempt my first brake job. I have new Zimmermann disks cross drilled type. Can anyone suggest what would be a good brake pad Most of my driving is light city traffic. Will there be any special tools required Will I need to bleed the brakes after changing disks and pads Should I use the anti squeek stuff Do you know of any sites or threads with step by step directions on how to do this Thanks in advance Gary

Id recommend you just use the OEM MB paste that you can buy online or from the dealer (its inexpensive). One packet per pair of pads (four packs if youre doing all the brakes). You also should replace the wear sensors even if they look okay theyre quite inexpensive as well. If youre not doing rotors the job is quite simple if you are then its a bit more difficult because sometimes the rotors can be

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Need brake help- PadsRotorsCalipers.

OK need some help here. padsrotors on my Â92 sportline 2.6 are bad and I ordered replacement parts to replace. I ordered parts for a W124 (300E) rotors and pads having assumed they would work guess what I got for assuming Rotors were larger than what were on the car- What is the low down on the W201 brakes IÂve read on this board and rev190 that the Sportline 190E shared the same rotors as the

Only the 16V used 300E brakes. The 2.3 (from 87) and the 2.6 used vented front rotors that were smaller than the 300E discs (as you found out). The 2.3 (87) and 2.6 have front rotors that measure 262x22 (seen in this picture ) The 16V had front rotors that measured 284x22 (seen in this picture ) The W201 and early 300Es share the same rear solid disc brakes (calipers and rotors). The part numbers for

The Front brake discs and Callipers of a 300E WILL fit on a 190E with no modifications at all. I have replaced my miserable non vented mini-discs on my 1.8 to the mighty 300E vented rotors in about 2 hours time. greetz matteus

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 How to replace brake rotors pads and change brake fluid

Does anyone have a DIY for changing the rotors pads and brake fluid on our cars I did see the W210 section has a DIY but I wasnt sure if it is different for our cars. Ive changed them before on other cars but would like to know any special procedures for the E55.

If you are familiar with basic brake service and rotor removal... then refer to the E320 sedan pdf I laid out for you. 1) the procedure for the rears is identical to the pdf. Note on rear discs do a search of the forum here or the W210 forum - sometimes the rear discs can be a little bothersome to remove since corrosion frezzes them to the hub 2) the removal of the front calipers is straight forward

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Front Brake Pads

Hello All Am I the only one that hates the huge amout of black dust that come from the front brake pads on MB cars I would like to change them but I can not seem to find any at any of the larger parts stores for this year. Advanced has a good selection of MB compatible Bendix Semi Metallic pads that worked very well on My ML and put an end to that crazy dust problem. I was trying to do the same for

You guys complain of dust from the 20042005 C230 your not going to do better. My 2002 dusted like crazy so I put in Porterfields good pad and much lower dust. Then I got the 2004.5 with the bigger calipersslotted rotors and it dusts less than the Porterfields did on the 2002. Friend of mines 2004.5 C240 dusts like my old 2002 because that car has the old style brakes. I think if you have the new type

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Rear brakes weak calipers frozen

Through the process of teaching 2 teenagers to drive using the family W210 99 wagon the rear brakes appear to have failed. Both rotors rusted over and began to make crunching noises with the application of heavy brake pressure. Having recently rebuilt them I am quite sure the front brakes are working 100%. I have just replaced both frozen rear calipers along with the rotors and I must say I do not

There is no anti dive so in a sudden stop situation the front of the car will always dip. Very little braking effort comes from the rear brakes in normal operation which is why they last so long. The discs (rotors if you must) should however be shiny since the pads will rub off any surface rust. Stop worrying.

MERCEDES BENZ SLK R170 Brake padsdiscs change

How hard it is to change them on a scale from 1 to 10 Can I do it my self Thank you

Yep pretty straight forward if you have all the right tools and follow the guides dwieden mentioned which are in the old techinal sticky which can be found through the tech sticky at the top of the main page. I did my fronts a few mounths ago and finally did the rears and painted the calipers silver this weekend the hardest part was getting the adjustment on the hand brake right.

I give it 3 (If you search and read everybodys experience) And 7 if you dont. 10 if you give to shop and have to worry what they did wrong. To get the front rotors out - you need to remove calipers (no need to disconnect break lines) - to do it - you need to remove two bolts (they are on blue locrite - hard to break free - you big extension on your wrench) when reassemble - put them back on blue locrtie thread sealant. Use Brebmo cross drilled disks and pads of your choise

Quote Originally Posted by royeco How do you hold the rotor when you loosen the bolt As other poster said - screwdriver in a vent. Breaking the calipers bolts free is what is hard - but dont need to hold them - just make sure car is on jack stands and not on a little jack that comes with it.

Ive got hold of part numbers... I just wanted a few opinions on the discspads - really wanted drilled discs...wasnt going to change the calipers or do a major 468pot upgrade with calipers that is gonna be too pricey - it is only a van afterall Tarox front discs only are 195 - gulp Just the drilled discs (they look pretty mint too) with standard size pads - with the best stopping power. Concept of completely independent parking brake inside rear rotors was introduced in 1966 by Volvo. It kept nimrods from frying rear brakes while driving with parking brake on. mercedes picked it up in 1969 BMW two years later.

I had two different types of brake squeal. Heres the story of how I got rid of it. Bought the car with spanking new discs and pads non MB. And very loud and nasty one too as if the pads were made of metal. Has anybody used those pads before Or did I miss something during installation

If you have turned the discs and PROPERLY applied the anti squeal compound about the only thing left is to pull the pads and rough up the pad contact area. Basically your going to start all over to rebed the pads. Remove the pads get some VERY course sand paper 60 grit or worse after you rough up the surface wash everything so you have a clean area to work with. Re apply the anti squeal and let it

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS V 6382 Vito Front Discs

Hi all. I have a Vito 114 Traveliner. Its 3.5 years old done 23k miles and is on its 4th set of front discs. I have just taken it in for a servive and Merc say it need new disc again. The last ones were fitted last October 7k miles ago. I had big rows with Merc last year but now they are saying that because its an auto more heat gets generated warping the discs. I disagree as I live in the country

From the stats you give us it sounds like theres a major (or simple) brake system problem why do you think you need discs ..is it because THEY said so have you had a look at the discs if youre going through discs that quick you must have to change your pads weekly also the fluid will be boiling all the time.Get someone you know to check the calipers for sticking. I dont think even quality discs would last if the pads are constantly rubbing.

Several months ago I noticed that when braking to a stop I felt & heard a small click...or perhaps a mini sprong...at about 10-15mph on way to stop (the noise might have actually been felt-heard more than heard through the ears...my wife didnt really notice it). It feltsounded a little bit like a spring...but it was a real short little tic not anything
