I found two kinds of these fender trims. Which do you think are the one what should be there I think the thinner one. Second picture. The picture above looks its the one too and the seller says the manufacturer is mercedes. mercedes W140 91-99 saloon wheel arches fender trim wheel arch chrome black matt eBay mercedes W140 S class Chrome wheel arch trim eBay
I think youve caught us out with nomenclature. By tube fenders are you meaning tube BUMPERS - ie- the heavy steel that protects you when you get hit from behind When I (and maybe others) hear fenders I think of things that some some call mudguards - the sheet metal covering the road wheels. and by wheel extensions do you mean the bumper end caps that extend from the bumper ends toward the wheel arch
thanks Dutch that what was I was looking for.Pricey enough 600 euros or thereabouts. But it looks easy enough to put together apart from the end angles to the wheel arches. Would gladly order from the US apart from the import duty and freight weight to ireland. So i gotta DIY or buy in the EU.[(] Irish
I did consider using a rust removing fluid but I think Ill just change the lines. Its the fuel supply and return that are in the worst shape. Basicaly its all the metal that just after the front wheel. The front caliper-to-flex brake hose cant be too expensive so Ill just get those two done as they look bloody scary. The body seems to be in good shape. I took the trunk liner off and saw that the factory

hello The fenders are attached with double stick foam tape. Use a hairdryer and carefully warm it and pull the fenders away. gatecrash has right. My car is lowered with Carlsson sport suspension. The car was ordered with original MB sport suspension. But to my taste is was way to high. Carlsson kit lower the car by 15 cm in front and 25 in the back. reg.jipettersen
those look horrible... ive seen very few nice examples of widebody R170s..... here is one with subtle modifications to the rear arches... he is running 18x10.5 rear MAE wheels... notice the 1st picture is with stock rear arches the second picture is with the arches modified. the front fenders are rolled & pulled like mine here is a full widebody conversion based on an SLK230 with AMG sport. pkg. featured in eurotuner magazine some time ago.. this car has some nice bits and pieces but I really would have done ALOT of things differently.. overal i think its a nice try. 1999 mercedes benz SLK 230 Rear Side Parked Photo

Thinking of getting these wheels--front wheels are 17x7.5 ET36 and rears are 17x8.5 ET30. Based on this mercedes-benz Fitting Chart and wheel Fitment Guide Alloy wheels Direct chart it is close although I dont have the wide arches. To the veteran wheel experts--will these wheels fit without spacers I dont have any experience with wheels. and Im not modifying the fenders. From the ad 2009 mercedes

If youre just looking to flare the front wheel arch then try rolling the lips.. You can replicate the more flared front wheel arch of the 500EE500 by cutting out your old wheel arches providing they are not too rusty and overlaying them on the new fenders. This method will allow you to keep stock cladding and use a standard width front bumper. Just need to find a good sheetmetal man Its a great deal of work...easiest is to buy all the 500E parts...then its just an expensive bolt-on
Rust is an issue with these cars unfortunately. Ive replaced both front fenders on mine. I have also had rust repairs conducted on all four doors (above and below the bodyside molding) as well as the front edges of the rear wheel arches (right where the rear door gap comes against the wheel arch) and along the underside of the tailgate lip - not the portion that faces outside the car but the portion
There was also some rust inside the fenders on wheel arches. The good news was that all other panels and frame showed absolutely no signs of rust or wear Somewhere a week later by my next visit the car was already covered with the paint primer. Everywhere where white is there was some rust found or it could have started to show up within the next few years.

It depends on your definition of a widebody. Flares are one thing but if you look closely at the pics the panel in front of rear fenders has that angled look - metal definitely aligned towards some sort of widening of sorts. I guess you could say widebody lite. and I think it works REALLY well. Now what to do about that m103.... Wow very reassuring to hear they are good for 220000 with general servicing. Just off topic slightly your rust you are experiencing is standard on the w210 s It will rust around front wheel arches bottom of front wingsfenders and round the bootlock area. It was due to MB using a different technology of paint (water based now commonplace) which reacted to the stretched metals they used. All panels could
Black series has wider wheel arches but 265s should be fine in the rear while 275s have been known to rub slightly. Keep in mind that when you load your car with people and bags then all bets are off. Proceed carefully as tires and fenders arent cheap.
wheelhouse to complete the job. Why reinvent the wheel when M-B has off the shelf items that are stamped that you KNOW will fit Koenig Gembella and Rinspeed were completely custom. There was a set of genuine HWA numbered AMG arches for the 400E on Yahoo Japan that went for something like USD 400 a few months ago somewhere I have the part number but its NLA I even called Affalterbach to verify. mercedes-benz
The gesammte change amounted to to including the todays daily 12.05.2005(completion) approx. 500 working hours. So it looks like it took 500 hours to do the conversion - too expensive Translation done with bublefish Body change of a SLK (W170) work amg on SL new optics of the type (R230) Used original mercedesteile of the SL (R230) 1 hood 2 headlight xenon in front 3 tail lamps 4 bumper in front

Is it lowered or did you just put the lower spings pads on What size of alloys and how much wider at the back Really appreciate your help Thanks A1EK Thanks for the kind words. Here is the best explanation I can give you without making you dizzy from all the things I have done. Suspension - Shaetz Springs with no pads zero wheels - 19x8.5 et25 19x9.5 et15 Tires - 2253519 & 2353519 fendersarches - rolled to accomodate bigger and wider wheels from before so my aggressive offsets fit with no problem. To achieve this look you will have to lower your car substantially or else you will end up unhappy with the appearance of the car. and my Brabus body kit really works wonders so I would suggest getting a kit also but it doesnt have to be authentic Brabus there are very nice knock offs like this one if you have a stock 320 body eBay Motors Duraflex benz CLK W208 98-02 BR-S Full Body Kit (item 170175701439 end time Jan-02-08 165925 PST)

The 300E and 400E didnt have wide wheelstires so the wheel arches on the fenders do not flare outward very much. The 500E however had special front fenders and rear quarter panels with largers flares like those shown in your pics. Ive seen body shops do metal work to increase the fender flare size on 124s and also Porsches. Actually any car. This isnt a recent development -- it (modifiying the body) was popular back in the 60s and 70s when muscle cars often had huge (wide) rear tires.

I learned my lesson on over sized wheels a long time agofunny story at work there was a young kid with a Honda carhe was constantly modding it in one way or anotherwhile walking by it one dayI noticed it had new bigger wheels on it and there was masking tape on all the wheel archesI asked himwhats the deal with the masking tape he replied the new wheels rub the fenders and the tape protects my paint job

I finally got a response and after trading emails with them they send me a pic of the body kit off the car they have changed the design from the wide wheel guards been riveted on having the fenders totally remade from aluminum with the wider wheel arches which i think is much better.

6 miles a day is not good barely time to warm up check oil for sludge bits of metal follow it and and look for white smoke. Rust is the nasty problem wheres it kept look around the headlights for bubbles the bottom of the front fenders the base of the rear wheel arches look under the spare wheel if you can get it up and have a look underneath check the front and rear ends of the sills - all those places

Get those damned wheel arches off I liked them at first too but they started to rust out my fenders. I need to go back and repaint one fender again last time I didnt know what I was doing. You should just tell your uncle that you have a plan for the car and although you realize school is a FULL time operation you think you can keep the car running.
