Maybe not everyones cup of tea but I thought since I use the 461-style 6 steel wheels that these would be the appropriate wheel arch extensions to be fitted. I think youve caught us out with nomenclature. By tube fenders are you meaning tube BUMPERS - ie- the heavy steel that protects you when you get hit from behind When I (and maybe others) hear fenders I think of things that some some call mudguards - the sheet metal covering the road wheels. and by wheel extensions do you mean the bumper end caps that extend from the bumper ends toward the wheel arch

I did consider using a rust removing fluid but I think Ill just change the lines. Its the fuel supply and return that are in the worst shape. Basicaly its all the metal that just after the front wheel. The front caliper-to-flex brake hose cant be too expensive so Ill just get those two done as they look bloody scary. If youre just looking to flare the front wheel arch then try rolling the lips.. You can replicate the more flared front wheel arch of the 500EE500 by cutting out your old wheel arches providing they are not too rusty and overlaying them on the new fenders. This method will allow you to keep stock cladding and use a standard width front bumper. Just need to find a good sheetmetal man Its a great deal of work...easiest is to buy all the 500E parts...then its just an expensive bolt-on

Flares are one thing but if you look closely at the pics the panel in front of rear fenders has that angled look - metal definitely aligned towards some sort of widening of sorts. The 300E and 400E didnt have wide wheelstires so the wheel arches on the fenders do not flare outward very much. The 500E however had special front fenders and rear quarter panels with largers flares like those shown in your pics. Ive seen body shops do metal work to increase the fender flare size on 124s and also Porsches. Actually any car. This isnt a recent development -- it (modifiying the body) was popular back in the 60s and 70s when muscle cars often had huge (wide) rear tires.

Will some fender rolling and bending will these rims fit a W124 Browsed through some german W124 sides and see some W124 coupes with these rims. Ok its not an SLC which Id prefer for the rear seats but can you help me with some items to look for I have no clue (about most things) and have never actually seen a 107 in good running condition. Hey Guys So heres the story. My uncle has had a 1979 450SLC (5L) for a a few years now and it has just been sitting in the drive way. It runs and everything but no one is really driving it. Recently he has wanted to sell it but it hasnt got any buyers so he wants to junk it. I really like the car and I know especially after reading the forums that if we were to do that it would be a colossus waste.

Get those damned wheel arches off I liked them at first too but they started to rust out my fenders. I need to go back and repaint one fender again last time I didnt know what I was doing. You should just tell your uncle that you have a plan for the car and although you realize school is a FULL time operation you think you can keep the car running.
