MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 DIY Front Stabilizer Links on 2002 C230

Right front stabilizer link was shot so i decided to replace both sides. Relatively easy espicially after going to school on the first one. Tools needed 7mm socket and 14 drive ratchet (7mm box end wrench would work) 16 mm box end wrench (ratchet version would be much nicer if it would fit into the shock mount but i dont have them so i cant say if it would work) Floor jack Hydraulic bottle jack Jack

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Front lower control arms - Upgraded OEM part

Hello my local dealership said that my front lower control arm bushings were cracked on my 2002 E320 4matic wagon. Since this is an 1800 job please help confirm the information they gave me. The dealership said that MB created upgraded bushings which would last longer but they required newly designed lower control arms to hold them. Is this true and are these upgraded parts worth the high price My

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Control arm bushings and front end (Question)

I am doing the control arm bushing (lower) ball joints stabilizers on my E55. The question I have is that should I replace other items while this is all apart The list of parts so far is 2 Inner control arm bushings (lower) 2 outer control arm bushings (lower) 2 ball joints 2 stabilizers Thanks

If you have the control arms off you might as well replace the inner and outer bushings. The parts are cheap and its pretty easy. Not sure what you mean by stabilizers but im assuming your talking about the sway bar linkages Those do wear out and they are really cheap and simple to replace as well. The ball joints will probably get pretty messed up in the process of trying to get the control arms out so I would definitely recommend replacing those as well.

I need to replace a few things in my front end lower control arm sway bar bushings etc. are there any stickies or good pics of the process cant seem to find here and have never done on this model. I am more experienced with the w124s. any help is appreciated.

great info in diy sticky httpwww.benzworld.orgforumsw210...s-exhaust.html ball joint replacement is easier than in w124 also the stabilizer links and swaybar bushings are very easy to replace. the most difficult part of front suspension is replacement of lower control arm bushings. a lot of people just buy the whole control arm with new bushing in it. you will need to remove spring when replacing control

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 Replace lower control arm bushings

stealership told me I need to replace lower control arm bushings and quoted me 850. I want to DIY on those. Do u guys think those bushings are easy to replace what tools do I need for the job Thanks

you will need to rent or buy a spring compressor and a lca bushing removal tool. i replaced them without the bushing removal tool and they were a pita to get out took me over 6 hours to replace both sides. in order to get the control arm out you will need to remove the spring. the right way to remove the springs is with the klann spring compressor but i removed them by lowering the control arm with

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 front suspension rumble

I have a 1997 W210 2 litre manual. First modern classic Merc I have owned. Usually buy older Jaguar 4 litre XJ6s. What a nice driving and beautifully put together car I am well and truly hooked. Next to no rust and really nice Alexandrite Green. The only fault in this magnificent vehicle is a clunk from front suspension when going over uneven roads. I suspect either Sway Bar Bushes or control arm

the cause of the clunk is usually because of the swaybarstabiliser links. might as well replace the swaybar bushings since you will be down there. the lower control arm bushings dont really cause a clunk but if they are worn bad then the front end will seem loose all over the place. the swaybar links and the bushings are both pretty cheap and fairly easy to replace. shouldnt take you more than 1 hour

Its time to replace the lower control arms on my 2002 S500 but at 128000 miles I cant complain to much. Does anyone have a link to the repair procedures for this service Thanks

Ok great. Now I know what youre planning on replacing. The arm youre referring to that carries the the suspension strut is called the Spring control Arm or the Transverse control Arm. The bushing and the ball joint (connected to the stabilizer) can be replaced without replacing the whole arm but if there is a problem with the balljoint where the suspension strut sits on you would have to replace the

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E III 211 Need help Upper ball joint lower ball joint or upper and lower control arms

Hi everyone - My E320 04 is creating some noise from front end. When I slow down and ready to stop on rough surface at red light or slow on bump I heard the knocks sound like playing drum in driver side. Jack up my car undo wheel and using big tool bar to check to see if there is any ball joint plays everything look tight solid and in good shapes. In 8-2010 while replacing the brake rotors pads and

My 04 E320 had the same rapid fire knocking from the driver front at every small bumphole. The upper wishbone follower joint was the cause. Like yours it also looked fine but when I detached the stabilizer bar link rod (it pushes up) from the steering knuckle (I was changing my front bearings) I was able to re-create the knocking by lifting the then un-tensioned steering knuckle by hand. (The steering

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS S IV 220 2001 S430 Front Suspension questions

Hey everyone. I recently bought a 2001 S430. Now a couple months later it turns out to need the front suspension replaced. Ive looked over the topics and think I pretty much have the information I need except for a couple things. 1)When tightening everything back up how much should all the bolts be torqued 2)I saw that the bolts need to be tightened while the suspension is under normal load. Which

You can tighten everything except the spring control arm and the front lower arm nuts at the axle carrier tightened at normal load.

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS E II 210 4Matic upper control arms

Hey everyone I couldnt find any info concerning upper control arms upper ball joints specifically. I have a 2000 E430 4matic (coincidence that the sign is above the 4)... Anyway the car has a distinctive bumping thumping type sound coming from the front end. Upon inspecting by grasping tires at top and bottom then rocking I found both upper ball joints have similar amount of play roughly 1 - 1.5 mm.

Greetings I just replaced my inner and outer tierods both lower ball joints and both stabilizer end links on both front wheels. However I am still recieving this heavy clunking sound everytime my wheels hits a bump more so on the right side. so now I am thinking either upper ball joints wheel bearings or strut tower bushings the clunking is very heavy sort of like a buckling clunking sound. it feels

i dont believe so. I will though. however upon tugging on each wheel I have notice the front wheels to depict some play in them via the 12 and 6 oclock positions despite having changed the lower ball joint stabilizer end links and the inner and outer tierods. the 9 and 3 oclock postions are firm. the bushings on the lower control arm look somewhat moderately old. thanks for the response what say you All the best

MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C II 203 Couple of issues and questions

Hi So I recently bought this W203 C180 2001 model and it appeared to have some minor() issues. Its not a big machine but it gets me from A to B. 1. When I push and hold the button on the blinker-stick to wash it dosent

1. Sammys right - the engine RPMs will be high when cold to help heat the cats. If it seems so high that its hard to hold the car still with the brakes you coudl have a vacuum leak that is causing the problem. 2. You could have a bad washer pump or a clogged or broken hose leading from the pump to the washer nozzles. Remove the front left road wheel and then the when well shroud there behind the front

Also the warranty term is to start w the current mileage on your car (i.e. not counting it).. so for example if you have a 6 yrs60K miles coverage starting today then it would be effective thru Feb 12th 2019 or thru 90K miles whichever comes first.
