My 01 c320 (120k miles) would not start the other night... turned over but not even a sputter Sadly my battery was weak so I replaced the battery before I proceeded and lost codes if any. I spent alot of time with the threads And as directed changed the CPS and cleaned the MAF... nothing. I changed the fuel filter but still no start. I checked for fuel in the rail and find that it is dry. I checked

The culprit could be the power supply for the fuel pump. It is powered by the rear Sam which is in the left rear of trunk. You have to take out the liner. Remove the hold down bolt. At the back am not positive which connector but its a 5 to 7 pin. The pin and connector melts and has a loose connection causing issues. Usually it starts at times or not enough juice to pump.

I have garaged this car for the past two years... Periodically having another stab at trying to fix this problem. I have replaced the fuel pump canister and the fuel sending unit canister as well as fuel pump relay fuse checked the wiring as much as possible etc. etc.. Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and replaced the fuel pump during one of my attempts a while back. I had replaced the fuel filter in the beginning. when you switch the key on you hear a noise for a few seconds that sounds like the initial system pressurization like most cars have. Its coming from the region around the fuel pump but I dont get any fuel delivered. The 48 PSI that I mentioned in the earlier post was achieved by jumping the fuel pump with a 12 V power source.

IIRC it should be around 4bar or 60psi when measures at the gaugue port at the common fuel rail in the engine bay. The replacement pump is an upgrade vs what came in the car but it will still be considered a stock part. It will work very well and should last you another 10 years or so. It will also make it easier for the next guy to fix. Autozone part 19997 car died... fuel pump not pumping. After couple hours it ran for 10 more minutes(almost got home). could not hear fuel pump come on when key was in position 2(just before starting). Took fuel relay to autozone(only one open near where I was). Theu could not find one in their system or books. REALLY helpful guy started opening relay boxes until he found one that looked like mine.

Each is listed with 2 numbers the first is at key position 2 and the second is while cranking. The CPS would be responsible in a way for sending a signal to the ECU and it sending a signal to the individual injectors to spray fuel so in a sense a faulty CPS would not allow fuel to enter the cylinders but you already ruled that out. I dont know of a way to check pressure at each indivual point to see which component it is sorry but at that point I would be talking it to my independant mechanic

Latest test results. There is no voltage to the fuel pump in key position 1 2 or while cranking. However I can feel both relays for the fuel pump click when moving through those key positions. Sounds like a misfire to me. Let me get this right. You say vibrating is this a misfire Also when you say slows down then goes I can only assume that the engine is bogging down under load. Does the engine feel uinderpowered What youre describing could be many things. A simple test should assist you in sourcing the problem. Remove the airbox cover from the engine and let it idle. Pull off the plug-wires

Could be a fuel pump problem. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the injector rail and see if your fuel pressure is not up in the 3-4 bar or 40-50 PSI range.

First do the cheap fix When it doesnt start if possible check the plugs if theyre wet.. If not try a injector cleaner if youve got crap in the fuelfilter. I bought my c320 in March 08 and I LOVE my car but now it wont run. The first sign of trouble felt like I had run out of gas even though the gauge said 14 tank. I put a gallon in it on the side of the road and it started right up and ran fine. A few weeks later it started the same thing (sputtering no response to pressing the accelerator) so I quickly pulled into a gas station and filled it up. Again

Spoke toooooo soon... It ran for a day. It is now in the shop where they suspect the fuel pump. Mr Mechanic said dont feel bad about all that we replaced we would have had to replace all of it anyway. That made me feel so much better.
