MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 front doors

when i close the front doors both driver and passenger WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN the windows bounce side to side. it seems like theres theres something loose or missing. i took off the door panel and looked at the regualor and all. does seem to be anything loose. are all 84 190es like this or am i missing a part in the door.

i got an 87 190e and it does the same sorta thing.. i havent worried too much about it tho.

better not slam those doors closed. you might end up with glass every where.

ya like someone said above i dont wanna end up with glass everywhere. how long has ur 87 190e been like this it doesnt sound normal but if it is then ok

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Restoring door handles and front grill

Ive recently received a 1989 190e. Its been well taken care of and needless to say it runs better than many cars half its age. It IS showing its age here and there though and Im trying to give it a bit of TLC. Im assuming that once upon a time the external door handles (and the front grill) used to be black but now theyre at best light gray when theyre dry. They dont look so bad when it rains. Is there

They (handles and grill) were never truly black. Dark grey at best. The following potions have been used to restore the door handles Olive oilPeanut oil Peanut butter Back to Black Forever Black Paint The grill is best addressed with a bumper paint spray which has some flex additive in it.

Kiwi Leather Cuir Premium Wax Formula lasts a good 6 months if you dont want to paint the door handles.

I use a model paint colored cast iron. This color has a little green and white in black and replicates an iron color very well. This is the shade of gray that looks correct on mercedes plastic.

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 190E Front door opening and closing

hello to all Recently i went with a budy to test drive a 2.6 (hes the one shopping.. im well satisfied with my good old 1.8) Now the reason for this thread is... when i closed that 2.6s front doors... they were pretty damn smooth. I noticed right there and then that my front doors need to be somewhat slammed to close properly...especially when its cold. Anyone know what may cause this My rear doors

These cars are air tight does require a little slamming of the doors to close properly. If in dought replace one door check & see if it improves...these door checks are cheap anyways. My wife got so used to slamming the doors on the 190E she slams the doors on our other cars too......

oh by the way would anyone have the MB part number for the front driver and passenger door checks

Quote Originally Posted by Ivan820 oh by the way would anyone have the MB part number for the front driver and passenger door checks I would just order them from the dealer cause I didnt have good experience with aftermarket ones. They looked identical to MBs but they failed in a very short time...than I went with door checks from MB only. Good news is they were rather cheap...even from MB.

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Front Door Panels electric seats.

OK I am stuck and I am going to break something if I pry any harder. Trying to get the front door panels off to check out the door speakers. I have read the CD manual searched this forum plus many Google Sessions. CD manual shows a crank window but it should be similar. Its supposed to be easy I could have taken out the transmission by now. door lock button removed as well as the lock cover. All the

OK It appears I can get the door speaker boxes out without removing the door panel completely. At least I think I can. Lets talk speakers. Most of what I have read here and other forums everyone wanting to know is changing out the head unit and some the trunk amp as well. I THINK for now I would happy or happier if the current door speakers worked like I think they should. Since if I turn up full Base

MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Front Passenger door wont open

Ive searched the archives and found a lot of similar problems but nothing exactly like this central locking system fluke My key will work in either door- all four lock plungers will pop upgo down but front passenger door will not open... so now Im literally playing chauffer to any passengers I may have... unless someone climbs over to the front seat (how classy that looks in a M-B coach). MERCEDES BENZ 190 W201 Drivers front door doesnt unlock but others do

Hi I really appreciate everyones help on these forums. I dont know what I would do without you guys Well I do know...not fix up the car. In any event the trouble is my key doesnt unlock the drivers side door. I have to walk around to the passengers side to unlock the car. I called a mechanic and he said it was the microswitch in the lock...but Ive tried searching for parts and havent found any. I went

1993 mmmm I have a 92. I had a strange issue with my Drivers door only. Using the Alarm to lock the doors you would see the lock go almost all the way down and then pop back up was the first clue. Manual pushing down the lock button showed it have a lot of resistance but steady pressure and it would go down and stay down but thats no good. ( later on I found there is timer in the system and that was

Hi Dan Its not spongee--you put the key in and start to turn it and it feels like you have the wrong key because it only turns part of the way. I feel if I put more force into it Ill break the key. One mechanic said that maybe it was because the key was old and I needed a new one until I showed him it unlocked the car from the other side. Im going to the junkyard again this weekend to get an open plug

Theres a common problem with these door locks. There is a small piece that transmits the rotation of the key in the cylinder to the actual lock mechanism. It is undersized and made of crappy metal. After a while it WILL break. You have to change the whole lock cylinder assembly. Its a very easy job. With a little care you can swap all the tumbler plates from your old cylinder to the new (or good used)

[(]I have problemms with one of the windows of my car. to fix it I have to remove the upholstery of the front door but I do not know how to do it. Please help I need advice Thanx

Undo the two philips screws around the door catch mechanism and take the trim off. Flick the plastic suround off around the door release handle undo the 10mm nut behind. Pull the door release arm and trim forwards and unhook it from the mechanism. The panel should then knock upwards and come off.
