BMW SERIES 5 E60 E61 Just ordered a new Lexus IS... not too late to go back & get a bimmer

Well I did it.... after much debate and mulling I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new IS250 AWD. While I had a lot of cars in consideration really it came down to the IS and the BMW 530ixi. Truthfully my decision was a bit spontaneous as I had made it right on the spot at the lexus dealership earlier today which was my first and only encounter with the IS. My first impression after seeing

compare the two. I went from a Honda Civic Si that I had for 250000 miles that only needed brakes and oil and one radiator in that time frame. Ive had my BMW for 42000 miles and not a single problem just smile after smile with every turn and drive on the highway as it feels like a tank with the resposiveness of a gazelle being chased. BMW is about balanced proportions for a great driving feel. lexus

LEXUS IS II Ticking noise every 14 seconds when the heater is on

Today I went to a coin wash and wash my car. When I was drying the car my wife decided to start the engine and heater (it was little cold for the princess..who cares about the fuel economy ). While cleaning the rims I noticed a tick noise coming from the engine. At first I thought my wife turned the AC on because it was exactly the same noise. But the engine rev didnt decrease. I though maybe it was

Hot engine coolant theory sounds more reasonable. If there is something in the blower motor I dont think it makes a noise at every 14 seconds. It is a mechanic or electronically controlled noise. But I really dont understand why that engine coolant circulates in the heater radiator at every 14 secondsshouldnt it circulate when the engine reaches up to a certain temperature and thermostat opens itself

LEXUS IS I I promised I would post my results on the Airlift coolant refill system so here it is

I was really tired of trying to get the air out of my cooling system. I had tried for days to burp my 89 I tried every method imaginable including jacking up the front of the car packing the cooling system (many times) drilling holes from small to large in the stat driving up steep hills down steep hills..etcetc... ... I finally found a system that worked to evacuate the air from any cooling system

LEXUS IS I 2000 m6 vette is to cold

Alright guys as many of you know I installed a cam a couple months back. As soon as we fired it back up the car was running cooler. I thought this was due to new coolant and cleaning the radiator while I had it out. But now Im getting a p0128 DTC. This code basically means that the car didnt warm up in a predetermined amount of time. And now that the temps have dropped outside about 155 is as hot as

LEXUS IS I 00 Overheats ONLY when AC is on

I have an 2000 frontier that overheats only when the AC is on and I am in traffic. I can leave it idle wo the AC on for extended period of time. As soon as I turn on the AC it jumps right up to H. If I am on the highway with the AC on all is well. Coolant levels are fine. I have a 1yr old radiator so dont think that is the problem. Any suggestions

The fan in front of the radiator does kick on. That is the only fan I see.

LEXUS IS I i didnt coat my front seal... how serious is this

I didnt wanna hijack a thread so I created one. I didnt coat my front seal with any sealant and need to know how serious is this I just read it WILL leak. I did this job a total of 3 times cause I forgot to replace something each time. (Flat washer then fuel pump rod ) I dont want to go back in side the front cover again and I definitely dont wanna tangle with the PS pump again. As of now nothing is

My apologies as I do not seek to hijack this thread but everyone here has done work proximate to the front seal. I was under the front end looking up and there is the balancer in plain view. So my question is it possible to pull and replace the hamonic balancer from under the car I dont want to pull the fan radiator hood etc. if I can just pop it out from the bottom. Any advice

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Solution to Exploding radiators.

Hi Did you ever wonder why some BMWs have exploding radiator exploding overflow tank bursting hose heater core leak problems. Well here you go BMW decided to run the system at 30PSI that is a lot of pressure your tires are probably at about 35PSI. Sure the radiator used in BMW is not the best but not that much worse than lexus or any other car. Pressurize any toyota or honda to 30PSI drive it hard

BMW SERIES 5 E39 What is your definition of well maintained

IMO About 10% car owners join forums because they luv their cars..So their idea of well maintained is totally different with the other 90%. Most will consider well maintained as fluid changes tires brakes etc. but come on who replaces their cooling system before it breaks or A Arms because of high miles Most people will wait till something breaks before fixing I admit If it aint broke why fix it I

3star I agree that the lexus are harder to work on (depending on what model). BMWs specially in the inline 6 models are very easy to work on due to the nature of the inline setup. LEXUS CT Sport Pedal Install and Pics

Here is the F - Sport Pedal Kit With brief install instructions. I guess the major cost of this kit is the fact that you are getting a replacement drive by wire gas pedal. LEXUS CT AC Wailing noise after power down

I assume its the AC... when I turn the car off after driving home (30 miles) I hear a high pitched constant squeal coming from under the hood. I stood there today waiting for it to stop and it took about 3-5 mins. I also noticed a loud bang almost noise from under the hood after i turned the car off and was sitting inside playing with the setup options under Accessory power mode. Are these things normal

Bangs are definitely bad. If theres a high pitched whirring noise it could be the water pump finishing up a round of recirculation. Our cars actually have a split radiator. One part of the radiator provides coolant to the engine. The other part of the radiator provides coolant to our inverter. Our inverters actually have little channels that run alongside the electronics in the inverter to help cool

BMW SERIES 5 E39 Is BMWs C.P.O. plan just B.S.

Greetings from Canada. Im new the BMW scene so please forgive my ignorance. Ive been auditioning a few 2003 530s for consideration. Ive seen so called Certified Pre-Owned BMWs available. Do other forum members see this as a benefit or just another marketing scheme As far I can tell CPO and Carfax does not identify collision damage to a vehicle. I mean really how bad does a car have to be wrecked before it get a salvage title In any event your comments are appreciated.

BMW X5 E70 My 2009 X5d is a piece of junk

I purchased my X5d in March 2012 as a certified used car from a BMW dealership. It had 32k miles on it. Since then I have driven it another 68K and it is now out of warranty. During this time it was at the dealership for various issues 75 days. The dealership told me that the repair bills during this time have totaled over 10000.00. Problems included sensors (check engine light) manufacturer recall

before getting a new one. My last 530i had 275000 miles on it when I solid it. My 545I has 165000 miles on it so I would keep the X% if I could afford the repairs. The dealer has offered me 14000 trade value. Kelly Blue Book is 22500. BMW has offered 3 car payments (880 each) to make me feel better. I say its not enough to keep my business and am trying to decide on whether to buy Mercedes or lexus.

LEXUS SC II SC400 2008 Z06 ECS SL1500 Paxton SC Install

Okay so here are the results of the East Coast Supercharging SL1500 supercharger kit I installed on my stock 08Z with only 4000 miles on it. After installing the kit and (edit) the base tune Doug at ECS prepared as requested for 91 octane and no meth inj. - the first set of Mustang Dyno runs and tune at Lightspeed Innovations netted 545hp and 571 ft lbs on 91 octane in 70 degree temperatures but I

I can run 91 octane fuel if I have to in 70 degree temps without detonation even when under full load and heat-soaked - although I will be running 93-94 octane fuel whenever possible. I believe he pulled back the timing and richened the mixture in order to avoid detonation on 91 octane and thats partially why its a little shy on hp at the top end compared to what some others are making with this

LEXUS CT EV Mode disengages too soon

Maybe Im doing something wrong. When I press the EV mode button for example while driving in a parking lot Im finding that it beeps and cancels EV mode whenever going over about 8 MPH- and the display reads that the speed was excessive for EV mode. It happens regardless of how much the battery is charged. I thought it should stay in EV mode until 25 or so MPH so are there other conditions which cause EV to cancel prematurely

I can get the HSD to go into EV mode in the morning by using the following practice Turn on the car as normal (note the cabin heater and seat heaters must be OFF or the computer will think that you want heat - which is provided by the warmth from the radiator fluid -- and will keep the ICE running to meet the demand from the HVAC system to provide heat) and let it run through its initial system check.

LEXUS CT How does one adjust the headlight level

After installing my HID lights I find that my headlights are aimed too high and other drivers dont appreciate it. I didnt see any obvious way to aim them lower can someone remedy my ignorance

If you open your hood and you look at the front plastic cover that covers the radiator in the very front and you look on both left and right sides directly above your headlights youll see two u-shaped arrows with RL and UD on both sides printed on the cover. Im sure directly underneath are the screws that will allow you to adjust the headlight levels. The lovely thing about the LED headlights is

LEXUS CT HID Slim Ballast Kit Installed - 55 watt 4500 k

There are plenty of instructions and videos of how to install HID lighting systems so rather than duplicate those I want to show how the the slim ballast HID kits can be incorporated inconspicuously into the CT. The kit from DDM comes with all plug and play connectors. The kit appears well made robust and the connectors are well sealed. I extended the 12 volt feed that plugs into the original headlight

I ended up going with the DDM 35W kit 5000K. Took about 30 minutes to install despite the fact there were no instructions. The only thing Id add here is that the radiator overflow reservoir easily lifts up and out of the way after you remove the two mounting bolts. Once its out of the way you have tons of room and theres even a nice flat surface down there to mount the ballast.
