BMW SERIES 3 E46 Valve Cover question please Help ASAP

So the other day I was replacing my valve cover gasket on my 2001 BMW 325i sedan and all went well until I was placing it back on. I ended up tightening two of the nuts too tight and they broke the bolt they screw onto(one is an outer bolt and the the other is a center bolt). Can they be replaced And if so are they expensive

Hey guys I need help Im confused at this point. I replaced my valve cover gasket and let it sit for a day. The day after I drove it. After my destination I looked under my hood and saw that it was leaking again. It was wet on a specific bolt that sits right above the O2 sensor which leaking from there causes it to smoke really bad because it drips onto the headersO2 sensor. Now I took it to my mechanic

BMW SERIES 3 E90 E91 E92 E93 Fuel vent ventilation valve hose replacement

Ok I am posting this on here for anyone interested. The fuel vent ventilation valve hose was leaking on my mothers 2006 325i. The car is still covered under the CPO but CPO as many of you know does not cover hose replacement. Local dealership wanted roughly 500 dollars to perform the replacement. I said no way and told my mom I would replace it for her. After paying the 120 dollar diagnostic fee to

Sounds like you have a few different troubles... The oil on the hoses may be due to a broken PCV line or due to a leaking gasket (valve cover head camshaft gasket...). Its hard to say. A gummed-up PCV system could certainly be causing some of your driveability problems -- and the extra crankcase pressure could be causing some oil to leak past the external seals. VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 Help My Passat is leaking a lot of oil......

Im not sure what you call it these days but were the aluminum peice (Rocker cover maybe)on the top of the engine and the Engine Block is leaking from the gasket where they join. Is it a simple fix All I can see is a few nuts I have to remove around the edges and maybe the spark plugs. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Andrew

On the 1.8t the aluminum cover bolted over the top of the head with the Oil Fill port and the coil packs going through it is the valve cover. Do some searches on the topic. Theres bound to be some DIY write-ups around. Also read through the various threads discussing causes of a blown valve cover gasket. If you have a problem with some other system thats causing the valve cover gasket to be blown out youll want to address that problem or youll end up with a NEW valve cover gasket that leaks.

LINCOLN OIL NO Transmission FLUID LEAKING EVERYWHERE

WOW I just went out for my weekly start for my 64 and as I sat in the drivers seat making sure it did not jump into reverse I smelled an oh so peculiar odor. I stopped the car from its strong hearty idle only to find a steam of oil flowing for 5 entire parking spaces with at least 2 pools. I do not belive their to be much if any oil in the car... What just happened WHY WHY WHY[b]

You really havent given much info just that youre leaking oil. You have to identify where its coming from before your question is answered properly. Most likey spots are rear main seal area which comes down off the back of the engine by the inspection cover. The rocker arm (aka valve) covers. Usually the rear corners of these are where they leak and of course the oil pan. As someone mentioned the oil

get a compression test done... my gut says blown oil seals on the pistons or oil leaking into the combustion chamber from the valve seals. You said the old valve cover was replaced due to leaking warped. It could be that some debris got into the area and has caused the seals on the valve stems to pre-maturely wear. oh and while doing the compression test - if its available get a cylinder leakage test done. If you had valve leakage then the leak test should find it.

Truck is running fine possibly a little sluggish and getting relatively poor gas mileage but I just chalked that up to the cold weather. Well today the CEL lit up on my way out of town and I stopped at Autozone for a quick check. P0300... From everything I am reading its either the head or a leaking intake valve. From what I have read 2004-2005 are the ones recalled on this maybe I read wrong or missed

JEEP CHEROKEE I am leaking oil but how do I know it the rear main seal

I am having an oil leak from my 1995 4.0 Cherokee with 136000 miles. It seems to be coming from either the rear of the valve cover or the rear main seal. The thing is I have no idea which one it is. I bought the Jeep 3k miles ago and it has been pretty oily all over that area so I guess its been doing it for sometime now. The leak -Short term driving does not cause it to leak much at all. And I dont

Three options 1. Its your rear main seal 2. Its your valve cover 3. Its your oil filter adapter housing All are pretty common causes for oil leaks on XJs. I would suggest cleaning up the affected areas with good de-greaser engine wash fluid. Try to get them as clean as possible. Observe what happens in the next few days you will notice it pretty quickly where the oil is coming from. Anyways the rear

JEEP WRANGLER Rear Main Seal Leaking...

Just curious as to why a rear main goes out I bought the jeep preowned and am wondering if it means anything or not. It has about 43k miles on it.

A rear main at 43K is pretty much in heard of. Id look at the pan gasket and valve cover gasket. Still very premature for either but worth a look. Also remove the oil fill cap and run the engine. If the leak stops you have a clog is vacuum line somplace. The clog causes pressure in the engine and forces oil out. Had that problem on an older cherokee i once had. Very easy fix. Hope this helps

Yes clean the side of the engine starting with the valve cover gasket area and on down. If you dont know if or when the valve cover gasket has been changed odds are that this is leaking. I am very upset right now. I went to the stealership to give them a list of problems that I was having with my C230 its under warranty. So normally when i take my car in its at least 5-7 problems each time. But I noticed one thing. I had taken my car in about the supercharger not performing as it should be rough idle drive shaft problems knocking noices and vibration and speaker problem. My car was

example still under warranty. with 5 complaints say car has a whining noise at idle clunking noise in front end tapping noise in engine at idle sunroof not working properly and front door lock jumping up and down. VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT B5 2.8 oil consumption

Does anyone know the normal amount of oil a 2.8 should use (without any leaks) between oil changes My 99 with 115000 is using about a quart every 1000 miles I drive 500 miles a week for work so every week Im adding about a half quart I have looked under the car on several occasions and have never seen any oil on the ground so is this normal consumption or should I be checking further into this

consumption on the 2.8L V6 (I have one) usually stems from the PCV system. when the PCV system gets clogged (either the hoses or the vacuum pump) the pressure builds in the bottom end of the motor until it forces pressure into the area under the valve covers. this causes one or both of two things a) valve cover gaskets blow out causing leaks andor b) cam seals blow out. if you are not seeing any leaking
