Difference in how many cores is cooling capasity but its not a straightforward thing either. You either get a cheap radiator that works fine or not (or lasts a year or 10 years) or you get a good radiator that costs slightly more and which is an all-metal radiator instead of the plastic-end-cap-radiator made-in-china made-in-indonesia. They tend to go crap pretty quickly. x2 I got a 3 core radiator from DPG Offroad. Good guy to deal with and very good quality radiator. My jeep runs 195 even in stop and go traffic on a 100 degree day.

JEEP CHEROKEE New radiator doesnt match old radiator

i just bought a brand new radiator to replace my busted one. when i pulled out the old one i noticed the new one has two brass fittings that the old one doesnt have one is about an inch wide just under the fill spout and the other is rather small diameter but about 2 to 3 inches long and has an angle to it. this one is all the way at the bottom anyone know what these are and why theyre not on my old radiator thanks in advance for any help

those are for the transmission cooler and since you have a manual you dont need to hook anything up to em.

I am working on a 97 cherokee Sport. It was hit on the left fender between the headlight and the steer tire. The radiator and transmission cooler are offset and bent. JEEP CHEROKEE Radiator and Condensor for 91 XJ

My friend just recently wrecked his cherokee. Hit a pole head on. He needs a radiator with the AC condensor also. Does anyone know where we could find one. We do not want to buy a new one. Also the front grill parts. Like the grill surround headlamp bezels turning signal lamps. Does anyone know anyone that has some just sitting around. Or where would be the cheapest place to find those parts. We have searched junkyards in 3 counties and have come up with no luck. Help

I didnt look to see where your at but if in So. Cal. Call these people and check on the price. In my stuppidity today I trashed my radiator(SeeWater pump replacment(be carefull) and had to replace it. JEEP CHEROKEE KK Does code 14 (MAP sensor) match the problems Im having

This is my first jeep. 97 cherokee Sport with 150000 miles. I got it as something to fix up. Wasn&8217t running when I bought it. It was missing the following parts I put in. JEEP CHEROKEE Will parts match up on front end of 1996 Sport

My son has a 1996 cherokee Sport that he hit a deer with. It took out the grill punctured the radiator and also the header panel. I have found a 1992 and a 1994 cherokee Sport that I can get the parts off of. Will they interchange. I also am going to have to get the cooler for the airconditioner which is located in front of the radiator. If I can not find a good one can we just leave it unhooked and still run the vehicle or will I need to plug the hoses. The air conditioner did not work anyway.

The radiator and AC condenser on the 91-96 cherokee 4.0L are all the same.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE GC radiator drain plug issue

Hey Guys few days ago started noticing a coolant drip under the front of the jeep 95 GC limited 4.0. Took a look around and its dripping from the small drain tube under the drain cock. Tried tightening the drain plug but to no avail. Took a ride to autozone and none of the dorman help section products are what I have. Although one of the dorman plugs 61112 which says for mitsubuishi looks like mine.

The parts stores usually carry rad drain plugs that are listed by application but the application listed is just the most common application. Just match up the thread length and sealing method and you will be fine. A lot of aftermarket radiators do use different drain plugs. If you take your old one to a local parts place they should be able to match it but as long as the rest of the plug is in good shape a new o-ring might do the trick as long as the parts guys can get the right o-ring.

Wound up draining the rad which I didnt want to do but I had to in order to get the plug into the store. It matches up exactly with the one shown in the photo which according to the HELP manual is for a mitsubiushi. That ones in there now so Ill see what happens. The o-ring was torn on the old one so Ill see if I can match that up and have a spare. Definitely an aftermarket rad I guess. Thx for the replies.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Advice on radiators

Well the ZJ has finally started to seep coolant from the rad. It is not a huge amount YET but enough that I notice it(refill the overflow every 1-2 weeks). So before it becomes an issue(like in the middle of winter while driving to work at 5 am) I am looking to change it. I have seen a couple different ones out there including an all aluminum one. Are there any companies to stay away from or others to sway towards. Also any other tips. Thanks in advance.

Got mine from E-bay (radiatorclassics) for 79 to door. Only problem made in China and one of the tranny cooling fittings was different. Had to remove line from tranny and have a fitting made on line to match the SAE threads on new radiator. BTW OEM fittings are removable and China radiator fittings are not. Previously used radiator barn with no problems but too expensive. Fitting replacement was 20. Ignore signature this was on Countryjeeps 98GC 5.2

JEEP CHEROKEE mix and match drivetrain questions.

Hokay here it goes. Im picking up a 86 tow-away xj for a screamin deal and I want to change up the drivertrain by throwing in a 98 4.0 out of my totaled xj and convert it from a manual to an auto and slapping on the t-case out of the 98. The auto will most likely be coming out of a 85-89. Has anyone else done similar swaps and what will I need electrically from each of the donors

I have both jeeps so i should be good Does anyone know if i can use the radiator from the 80s xj because the fan tore up the radiator on the 98.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE [94 ZJ I6] Trans-Radiator cooler line disconnect tool

Just looking for opinions here. My engine will occasionally hit 215-220 when idling with the heat off in traffic after a hard drive and then start missing and bogging. The wires in the diesel diagram match whats in her gas powered. The fan does spin freely when I try it. The two wires that are on either side of the ground go to the two relays in the power center. JEEP CHEROKEE Upper Radiator Hose 99XJ

can someone link me to somewhere I can buy a quality upper radiator hose for a 1999 XJ 4.0 with AC Ive found a few but they say picture may not match item. I just want to make sure I get the right part. I have a small hole in mine and now that its warm I can finally fix it. Thanks

JEEP CHEROKEE Sludge build up in radiator is this normal or is engine going clarificatoin on repair

I checked my radiator today. I took of the cap on the radiator and there is a sludge in there. What is this Is my engine going I have never seen anything like this before. When I do the flush do I just open the drain plug on the radiator and let it run out The book says to hook a hose to it. Do I really need to do that Also when flushing it can I just put the hose in the rad cap slot and run the engine

Here is how I would deal with this mess 1. buy a radiator flushing chemical at the auto parts store. Do NOT get the caustic kind as that can eat up an older rad. or heater core. 2. drain the old coolant. You can pull the lower rad. hose if you like to do this but you will have to reattach the hose for the remaining steps. 3. Add the flushing agent and mix with water per instructions and run engine

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE E-Bay radiators

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Periodic Radiator Fluid Leak

Every 2 or 3 weeks there is a small amount of radiator fluid that has leaked onto the garage floor. Normally it does not leak. The dealer has replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap but it has not fixed the problem. It seems to be worse after a cold spell followed by warmer weather. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause of the problem

Gotta love the plastic parts used in the cooling system.Leaks can happen(and are more common then your think) when the engine is cooling down from being drivenit hits a temp range where the plasticaluminumand rubber are contracting at different rates and can form a small leak that will seal itself once all the contraction rates match.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE need to match this color somehow

So I have been trying to match the paint on my jeep. I found the color code to be PF4 if i remember right but there were two different paints for that color code. Can someone please help me get the proper color code and what it is called so I can get my door to look like it should I had a place custom mix me a spray can but the color was a little off and it wasnt because of fading. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Replaced radiator incorrect transmission fittings

I recently replaced my radiator in my 96 grand cherokee Laredo 4.0 with one that I had purchased at advanced auto parts this one . The transmission fitting for the new one is the incorrect size. The fitting is slightly too large for the transmission line to screw into it. I have been looking for the correct size but have had no luck. Id rather not pay 80 bucks for a ten dollar fitting at the dealer. Anyone have any suggestions

Weird I have an Autozone Ready-Rad in my 93. The top fitting had the right thread the lower fitting was the same as the stock and the fan mounts matched. Its been in there for four or five years with no issues.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Dammit... brass oil cooler fitting on radiator doesnt fit...

So I just tried connecting up my new Silla radiator and I got to the upper oil cooler line last. Neither of the two supplied brass fittings works - they both slightly too large for the nut on the cooler line to reach over them to grab the threads. Theres also no recess on them for the flare at the end of the cooler line to fit into. Im now thinking I should have transferred the fitting from the old

I cant help you with exact size data but I can tell you that one end of the fitting is metric and the other end is SAE. When I had this problem (Im the original thread starter) I tried any number of domestic plumbing fittings without any luck before doing what I should have done at the start I disconnected the upper trans cooler line - the one with the tube nut on it - and took it and one of the fittings

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE V8 radiator drain leak

I all I noticed a small drip of coolant coming out from under the front pumper. After looking around it appears to be the peacock on the drain. Its not leaking around the knob its leaking as if it wasnt fully closed. Ive turned it back and forth too see if it would seat better but its still dripping. Ive searched a little but couldnt find anyone else with the leak. Is there a way to fix this valve or do I need a whole new radiator.

Good morning Twin. I just experienced the same after draining the coolant on a thermostat replacement. Though my drip was due to my stripping of the locking thread enabling the petcock not seating properly. Took the petcock up to AA and matched it up. 6 later .. no leak. Mine was a 4.7L ... not really sure what you have. I do recommend taking the actual valve up to the store (requiring you to drain

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Does the electric radiator fan run after engine is off

I just found out my electric radiator fan motor is dead. I dont think it ever worked since getting this 1999 Grand cherokee but engine temp has been okay until recently in hotter weather and heavy stop and go traffic. I know the fan motor is bad but before replacing it Id like to know if the 99 WJ is like some other vehicles where the fan motor runs for a couple minutes after you shut off the engine.

Thanks michiganmaveric - thats what I thought but wanted to make sure. Im good on wiring and am sure I could hook a generic one up if I can match the specs. I know it does not need to be over 40 amps as thats what the fuse for the fan is rated if I recall correctly. But you are right about them having ones cheaper on eBay made just for the fan relay. I hadnt looked at that option yet so a big Thanks
