JEEP CHEROKEE Product Review FloMax 300 Fuel Filter Water Separator (pics)

I posted this up on my website today FloMax 300 fuel filter Water Separator by Ramco Performance Manufacturing installed 11908 One of the most neglected systems in our jeeps is the fuel delivery system. In a way this is understandable because the fuel pump is inside the gas tank making it hard to access. Especially if you have a 97 XJ in which you must drop the whole gas tank to remove the pump module.

pressure down to 31 psi. The guy at NAPA assured me that the fuel hose I was buying had a 50 psi rating but because it doesnt have it marked on the hose I am a little cautious and will be inspecting the hose frequently at first to make sure. (I can be paranoid and anal at times I know...) The last thing to do before actually installing it was to decide where it was going to be mounted on the jeep.

Once I decided on where to mount the FloMax I then knew which side of the filter I would run the fuel lines to. So the first thing I did was install the plugs in the ports I was not going to use. Next I could attach the brass fittings. The Permatex thread sealant is used on all threaded fittings. Now it was time to locate the fuel line I was going to cut. Heres a photo of the underside of the jeep.

JEEP CHEROKEE Fuel filter replacement

On a 98 cherokee classic 4.0 how do you replace the fuel filter Thanks for any help

have the fuel filter attached to the pump inside the gas tank. For the older models like us your only fuel filter is where you mentioned before - a few feet up from the tank. Makes it a lot easier to replace. I dont know when the changeover from out of tank to in-tank fuel filter happened somewhere in the mid to late 90s. The way to tell which one you have is to look underneath the rear of the jeep

I didnt have access to a pressure gauge for a proper test though. I finally acquired a gauge and it was only putting out 17 PSI. I replaced the fuel pump and it fired right up. JEEP CHEROKEE 96 Cherokee Sport - Fuel Filter Help Needed

Everyone First off great forum I have had a 96 cherokee Sport for a few months now. I decided when I got it that I would use this jeep to finally learn how to work on cars.... JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Fuel FilterRan out of gas problem.

I recently ran out of gas in my 1999 Grand cherokee and after resupplying my vehicle I am experiencing a problem that must be my fuel filter. The starter is running but the vehicle wont actually start only repeatedly attempt to turn over. Ive looked through this forum and found that the fuel filter is the likeliest culprit I checked and it seems I do have an external fuel filter. Ive also learned that

Does your engine actually fire up and run for about 2-3 seconds and shut off or does it not run at all As this happened after running out of gas it is possible that some crud from the bottom of the tank got sucked into the fuel system and has caused a partial clog. I would start with having the fuel pressure checked. Actually all WJs 1999 - 2004 Grand cherokees have an externa l fuel filterfuel pressure regulator combination unit.

I have not personally been under a WJ...ever so I would not know first hand where the fuel filter or the brake fluid filter or turn signal fluid are located. JEEP CHEROKEE If its not the fuel filter then what

Ive had the same issue with my 01 cherokee Sport for a couple years now. Last summer it would cut out when I was driving the worst of which would happen while I was going uphill. On top of the cutting out it is shaking. I

JEEP CHEROKEE Fuel Filter Change

Can you change the fuel filter on a 97 XJ. I think its dirty or something. I looked in the Haynes manual and it said there is no schedueled maintanance for the fuel filter. So what happens if you get dirty gas. Do I have to take off the hole tank cause I think its inside of it. Thanks Matt

I drive a 93 jeep cherokee. I was having trouble with my fuel and had to change my filter. Mine was located just before the fuel tank and really wasnt that hard to switch out. Just follow your fuel line from your tank and you should see it its not hard to change

JEEP CHEROKEE no 97 XJ FUEL FILTER uhh huh

ok so before i leap into the abyss of my combustion knowledge my car is drivable has had about 5 noticable incidents. I would initially say its the filter and injectors that should be done. so ive seenheard theres no fuel filter in the 97 4.0l the engines seems to lose gas and the pedal has a clickin noise coming from around itthen randomly it kicks in after anywhere from 1-10min (done it only once

Just read your post looking for something else. The 1996 was the last year where you could actually change the fuel filter easy. The 1997 was inside the gas tank on the cherokee - the filter is a sock thing on the end of the pick-up. However recently I have learned from a jeep mechanic that there is another more pressing problem with the plastic gas tanks that have me worried and that is the problem

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE Fuel Filter - Once and For All

(FYI Im talking about the external fuel filterregulator not the in-tank filter) Ok Ive read as many fuel filter threads on here as I could find and I know that wjjeeps (or Chrysler rather) says you should only replace the fuel filter as needed or once there is a problem. Ive seen plenty of people on here who seem to disagree with that notion stating that if a filter is good for the life of a vehicle

JEEP CHEROKEE Fuel Filter 99 4.0 Cherokee 159.98 for the filter alone

Someone in another post said that changing the fuel filter on my cherokee was a cheap and easy job. I went to Advance Auto and they did not stock a fuel filter. I went to Autozone and was told it was part of the fuel pump in the tank and not to mess with it. People at Autozone have a history of being retarded. Now I am on the phone with Murrays and its 159.98. This does not sound cheap or easy.

I also checked on the fuel filter for my 2000 cherokee 4.0L. I was told the same thing about the fuel filter being part of the fuel pump. Turns out its true. Guess Chrysler wants you to only replace the filter when the pump goes bad. The price you where quoted may be for the whole fuel pump assembly or it was the wrong part. Here is a picture of the parts catalog I have for my 2000 cherokee which shows Item 4 being the fuel filter as part of the fuel pump.

Do you have to drop the tank or anything I dont know anything about jeeps any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Fixed my hard starting and stalling around corners problem. Its also a good time to clean out everything inside the tank. This is the write-up that helped me a LOT when I did mine. Its for changing the pump

No luck... Thanks for trying though. My problem might not be the fuel filter who knows I have an intermittent low rpm missstumble between 1500-2000 RPM and it is driving me INSANE. I have my other car in pieces in my garage for an engine swap my jeep is my driver and I will be SCREWED if I cannot figure this out.

JEEP CHEROKEE Fuel Filter Leak

I have a 1993 cherokee Country. I noticed that there was some fuel dripping from the middle of the fuel filter after I turned the car off a while back. Now it is leaking again in the exact same way and it seems to be leaking more I dont think its a problem with the filter itself as its brand new and I dont think its the hoses either.

JEEP CHEROKEE anyone know how to change a fuel filter on a 95 XJ

I need to know how exactly to change a fuel filter on a 95 xj and if doing that is even worth the trouble. The jeep only has 46K miles on it right now and i dont think the filter was ever changed. any advice Thanks

Make sure when pulling the fuel line from the filter to hold a rag over the end of the filter you are removing the line from to prevent the excess fuel from spraying you and everything around you. For a beginner it will probably take you 20-30 minutes but if you are mechanically inclined it should take around 10 minutes to complete the job. When the job is done and you are ready to start you cherokee
