Neonlow Your problem sounds very different and suspension or enginegbox mount related A few stilos have had steering rack failure With a rack and pinion steering rack when the pinion gear loses a tooth the steering starts to move and then jumps back as it jumps over the missing tooth with a loud clunk in the same point on the steering wheel rotation If the gear is worn excessively or all the teeth

FIAT STILO Stilo 1.6 MW awful squeak from steering wheel

Hi guys I have this problem since I bought the car 3 years ago and it seems to get worse when it gets colder. I dont know how to describe this sound sometimse when it resonates with the vibrations of the engine&8230 its just... terrible I cant stand it. It resembles the sound of a tiny little metal part which vibrates freely in a plastic box. And up until now I thought that&8217s what it was. But i

Crikey I dont like the sound of that By corrects itself you seem to be saying the steering wheel starts off out of line in the straight ahead but later is spot on. Tends to indicate some sort of slippage between steering column and the rest of the steering gear. I would get that checked out professionally pronto if I were you

fiat stilo 1.9 multi wagon 54 reg. Re- no reversing lights. If you find that fuse f31 in fuse box next to steering column is ok and you have power to same but when you check for power at the gearbox switch there is noneblue wire then here is the solution. having first determined that the gear box switch is ok this is what you do. Take a piece of wire say 10 inches long or so fit an in-line fuse

FIAT STILO A surprising end to a long Stilo day

My day started with a reasonably high-speed one-hour round trip in my stilo to pick up two rack ends (inner balljoints). Then on my way to work I picked up two track rod ends. Yesterday I replaced both lower wishbones (control arms) and drop links . Also changed the gearbox oil (not the Selespeed fluid but the Tutela 75 Synth in the gearbox itself - a slow job filling about 2 litres through the dipstick

FIAT STILO New Stilo Abarth for me few problems though - suggestions

I havent been on this site for a long while (since I Was seeking advice on an ex-gfs punto I think) and now I am for me as I just bought a stilo Abarth the first fiat I have ever owned myself. FIAT STILO Vibration Under Acceleration

Hi I have just bought a 2004 04 fiat stilo 1.6 Dynamic Estate. The car has covered 139000 miles and has just had its cambelt done. I have a problem with the car vibrating under acceleration. It is most obvious when the car is doing between 40 and 50mph. It is slightly noticeable under that speed but totally gone over that speed. The vibrationwobble appears to be coming up through the car rather than

Thanks for all the replies so far. I have done the CVdriveshaft test in a large car park on full lock both ways and there is no clickingknocking sounds and the it drives fine in circles I also changed the rear tyres to the fronts but the problem is the same This leaves me to think the vibrationwobble is either the perished rear gearbox mount the lower steering column universal joint or something else

lower the steering wheel (easy to do). Finally you might derive a very small amount of extra seat movement if you knock in the tabs inside the seat rails (something that you do to remove the seats) which will allow the seat to move as far back as the crossmember allows though the seat might not latch correctly (it may be possible to make an extra notch in the rail so that it will however.) The fiat

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Need questions answering about a grand punto 1.3 75bhp mjet

Hi all I have a few questions for you all. The misses wants a new car and we have found a good price grand punto. I have a fiat stilo jtd so I know its a good engine. BUT is there any go in this 75bhp grand punto mjet She has a 07 Nissan micra 1.2 petrol At the moment but wants to change as it is rubbish on the motorway. Honestly if you do over 60 the petrol goes down so fast. So my question is I know

with the Grande Punto lie away from the engine. It seems like the bigger 1.9 Multijets are abit more fragile than the smaller diesels but still look out for steering column problems (does it cut out on full lock for example) suspension knocks & creaks doors that wont open from inside or outside loose windscreen air vent faulty heaterfan switches & noisy heater fan amongst other things. Im a big fiat
