FIAT PUNTO Eml - p0115

Hi Ive got a problem which has been on going since I brought the car last year. I had to replace the ECU as it was faulty it would never read an engine temp below 79oc despite all other sensors reading correct running temp. I had the new ECU fitted which reads correct temp active diagnostics performed and was never seen reading above 70oc. The other day though I was driving for about 1.5 hours during

FIAT PUNTO II 188 188AX Trying to fix my Punto Mk2

Hi Guys So Long story short. I bought my first car this january. Great deal at first and i managed to get my driving license with it. But then the thing started to fall apart . So now its at a mates garage completely immobilized Specs punto Mk2 from 12001 1.2 8v petrol 170 000km no central locking or electric windows but air conditioning When i bought my car the break pads and drums were changed by

Si i had my ECU read. Those a the error codes Engine errors P0300 httpwww.obd-codes.comp0300 Basically this means that the the cars computer has detected that not all of the engines cylinders are firing properly. A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code for example

FIAT PUNTO 1.2 Punto Trouble

Hi all. Ive just bought a 2001 mk2 fiat punto. The engine management light was on as the engine was misfiring quite heavily. I found that the HT leads were bad causing them to short out against the engine. I replaced them with new plugs. I also had the faults erased from the ECU . They were single or multiple misfire The car runs much better now but when I accelerate its like the car is holding back

FIAT PUNTO EOBD code PO 115

Hi Driving car today stuck in stand still and the temp went to half way then my fan kicked in. The road became free and i accelerated from stood still to 70mph to try to cool down the radiator by getting air to it. Straight away my temp went to 14... 2 mins later i notice the engine management light has come on and the temp dropped straight to zero on the C mark but the engine was obviously still hot

I think the coolant temperature sensor on your engine is on the thermostat housing. Bear in mind that fault code p0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction so its not neccessarily the sensor thats faulty it could be the wiring or connector etc. Not sure if theres guide to testing the sensor in the punto guides but theres one in the Stilo guides here httpwww.fiatforum.comstilo-guide...-circuits.html Dave.

As I posted above Code p0115 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction Assuming your new coolant temperature sensor is OK it would suggest a short circuit in the wiring between the sensor and the engine management ECU . The sensor is a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) resistor meaning that as its temperature rises its resistance gets lower. Therefore if the wiring were shorted it would

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO III 199 Grande Punto 1.2 Dynamic - Cold start

Hi I seem to have a similar problem to a number of threads. Car suddenly needs 78 attempts to start from cold. RAC diagnostic - p0115 - Water Temp. sensor problem. Car was subsequently re-diagnosed with exactly the same p0115 issue.

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Engine Warning Light & no Temp.

Hi guys new member here though I have referenced the forums a number of times in the past as my delightful 07 Grande punto 1.2 has had its fair share of issues in the past. The latest issue that is troubling me at the moment is the worrying amount of time it seems to spend with its Engine Management Light on. Sometimes it is only briefly and at other times it can stick around for a day or two before

FIAT PUNTO II 188 188AX Heater Problem - MK2 Punto

Im having a problem with the heaters on my 2002 MK2 punto. I have had the Temp Sensor and connector replaced. When im driving for about 40 mins with the heater set at full hot on the cabin temp dial the EOBD light comes on and when the memory is read the error code is p0115. Could it be a fault with the resistor on the heater switch or a problem relating to the heater wiring in general Any help would be gratefully received.

It will have nothing to do with the heater at all. p0115 is an engine fault code for an incorrect reading from the temperature sender. Ping the sender when the car is warm to find out what its up to. Cheers SPD

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO The EMS light stays on

The EMS light stays on my fiat punto grande 07 and the engine is difficult to start when cold and the fan motor starts when the engine is switched on and the temp gague doesnt work at first. Eventually coming on but only when the engine has warmed up and the engine is switched off and then on a few times. Any idea what is wrong with my car

p0115 - the coolant temperature sensor. Which I have changed.

thread at the top (ECU update required or at least a decent battery). If its coming up later on then Id be checking that your car isnt actually overheating has an airlock around the sensor has a failing headgasket. You also say the gauge eventually starts working after a whilerepeated start-ups- does it rise to the normal level Is the cooling fan still running constantly etc. And finally httpwww.fiatforum.comgrande-punt...re-sensor.html

FIAT PUNTO Engine Light On - P1691 Code (Seeking opinions & experience)

About a week ago I drove 60ish miles and no problem. Car has been sat on the drive for about a week and now has the engine light on . It is rather hard to get started (you hear it try 23 times before finally firing up). Took it out for a drive around the block but couldnt feelhearsee anything out of the ordinary (other than the engine light). My OBD reader has detected P1691 which from reading other

Thanks for the welcome Sadly this problem has developed into something far more serious. I have now got the code p0115 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Malfunction and the car will not start - just tries to turn over but never gets there. I am currently suspecting the head gasket has gone because the engine coolant visibly rises each time the engine tries to turn over. Im going to do a compression test tomorrow to try and confirm. Has anyone had any experience with this

Autodata lists P1691 fiat specific Fuel shut-off control - malfunction Wiring poor connection fuel pump (FP) relay throttle control unit ECM in basic terms Check plugs for fuel cut off - fuel pump - the connections to the throttle body and the earthing strap on that Check the relay for the fuel pump (energise low current side) and then check resistance across High current The throttle control unit

Hi guys First off apologies for the delay in getting back - its been a rather hectic few days. I was recommended by a friend whos a bit of a petrol head to have it looked and quoted by a local garage as he too thought it was the head gasket. So I booked it into a garage and they confirmed the head had indeed gone. They replaced and skimmed the head replaced a leaking water pump and all the sparks

p0115 is either coolant temp sensor or check the coolant level 9 times out of 10 coolant is low. Had that on a friends punto today

Originally Posted by RaulCarnahan p0115 is either coolant temp sensor or check the coolant level 9 times out of 10 coolant is low. Had that on a friends punto today first thing i checked thanks so looks like it could be an intermittent temp sensor one thing i did notice is on start up the temp gauge shoots up into the red as far as it goes then comes back to what appears to be the normal range not sure if this is normal self test or not thanks

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Starts fine then dies two seconds after start-up

Need to clarify that i have owned the GP (1.2 8V Petrol) since 89000 miles currently at 92500 with no idea of service history... Car is struggling to hold revs when i first start it in the morning and when it is left turned off for a few hours. Runs fine once I get going though. Basically it will start without a hitch few seconds later it struggles to hold revs and then dies almost instantly. Tried

Should probably point out that around a month ago the p0115 Error Code came up on the EML (Water Temp Sensor) not sure if this is MAP MAF related as it sounds as though this could be the problem. Battery was brand new Oct 13 so shouldnt expect a problem there possibly bad earth connections going to do some multimeter readings tomorrow night and see if anything is out of the ordinary but feel free to add anything you feel like would be of use

FIAT PUNTO Engine Management Ignition Key Fault

Just recently Ive had the engine warning light come in intermittently Ive had it checked and the error code says there is a fault with the ignition key. Ive not got any spare keys (none that are programmed anyway the only place nearby said they where unable to copy the code from my existing key) so before I go to fiat themselves to get it checked and have the spares programmed does anybody have any further insight

Well the lead arrived today hooked it up and read of a single error p0115 (if I remember it rightly) which was a faulty reading for the water temp sensor. So either the previous error was cleared and Ive not noticed the EML come on (Multi-ECU Scan said Light ON which I assume means it threw the EML) or the guy at the garage needs to find some better software

p0115 Coolant temperature sensor Clear it - report back if the EML is on or key code light comes on Do a code read - and report any codes But that wont make a key issue The sensor probably was unplugged to test the fan Ziggy
