FIAT PUNTO punto P0300 Fault code

hi my punto started devoloping a misfire again i took it to my local garage and they ran a system scan. they found it said ignition failure p0300 i had a look around and couldnt find any proper info. what does this code mean is wrong my mechanic tells me it is likely to be coil or ECU as these are very common on fiat 1.2 8v (60).

Could well be the ECU . random misfire. Try swapping the leads to the coils over after having determined which cylinders are misfiring. (infra red thermometer maybe). If the cylinders dont change itll be that horrible pesky micro ECU . They can be repaired whichis one hell of a lot cheaper than getting a new one. Lots of posts here and something in either the guides or faqs.

its a generic code change plugs and leads before anything else

ECU Testing Ltd will test your ecu . If its ok you pay postage & small fee. If its broken they sell an exchange ECU . Have you examined the fault codes

The common ECU failure problem brings up a coil 1 or coil 2 fault code not a generic misfire code and will run on 2 cyls (as would a coil issue). A generic misfire is just that- a misfire the ECU cant reliably pin down to a cause and can be down to any number of things including (but not in order) Spark plug HT lead slipped valve timing duff fuel clogged air filter stuck open evap valve duff lambda

FIAT PUNTO Fault code advice

I took my car (02reg fiat punto 1.2 16V) in for a service today and they advised that I had four fault codes showing up when they checked the EDU. They said they couldnt tell me what they where unless I paid for someone from outside of the garage to come in and run the diagnostic test to tell me what the codes were which confused me as they gave me the codes with my service sheet. Anyway I looked up

FIAT PUNTO Dredded P0300 after timing belt change

My punto 1.2 8v 53 plate was running fine however mileage had gone over 60k so thought I would be proactive and get it replaced at my local garage. They changed it and all was fine until I hit around 76-80MPH then the ECU light flashes sometimes for 30 seconds sometimes for about 10 seconds then goes off. On one ocasion it came on and stayed on took it back to garage they reported p0300 code multiple

Clear code or re-set the ECU . If the fault comes back you will have an issue.

Hmmm the code was cleared yesterday when the plugs and leads were changed. Any further suggestions Thanks in advance

FIAT PUNTO occasional misfire - P0300 & P0340

02 reg Mk 2 punto 1.2 8 valve 85000 miles starts & runs perfect except what feels like a brief misfire now and again. The engine misfires for maybe 30 seconds and the yellow engine light comes on. Sometimes the engine light flashes and then goes out again when the misfire stops sometimes it stays on (not flashing) for a day or two. This happened about once a week for the last month or so. The codes

Zero the ECU codes then check with the engine cold and again when hot. If the sensor is failing its likely to be worse with the engine hot. Also check the cable connector contacts are clean.

FIAT PUNTO 8v fault codes

got punto 8v here with fault codes of P0141 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 2) and p0300 is it my guess this punto might be ready for another ECU there is no missfire leads and plugs are new icleared loads of codes offand these two wont clear. car runs sweet.

Hang on -- p0300 is random cylinder misfire but there is no misfire Doesnt add up. AFAIK p0141 isnt associated with ECU failures. Short somewhere in the injector wiring (Just a guess.) Live data would be useful maybe. While youd look for a misfire on the HT side there could be other causes.

FIAT PUNTO Misfiring - P0300 P0302 P0303 P0304

Hi all Just looking for some confirmation from anyone who is a bit more technical than me. Last night my car starting misfiring when ticking over and missing when accelerating. I had noticed in the last couple of days once or twice it seemed juddery and last night it finally stayed constant. Anyway plugged in my basic fault code reader and it came out with p0300 P0302 P0303 P0304 related to misfiring.

pull leads out and my guess is one will have a hole in one of the ends that go onto a spark plug that spark can travel to all the other plugs and does some strange things with codes often comes up as multi cylinder miss fire when only one lead has the hole

are the holes easy to spot are we talking about a tear in the rubber thanks Originally Posted by dave pull leads out and my guess is one will have a hole in one of the ends that go onto a spark plug that spark can travel to all the other plugs and does some strange things with codes often comes up as multi cylinder miss fire when only one lead has the hole

FIAT PUNTO Error Code Help

Hi guys I have read the error codes on my ladies 1.2 16v punto Sporting. The results are READING ERROR codeS 1 P1135 - Preheating resistance 1 above catal. Since the sensor is heated by the exhaust gases only the sensor reaches the operating temperature slightly slower than normal and may cool down too much during cold idle

Si i had my ECU read. Those a the error codes Engine errors p0300 httpwww.obd-codes.comp0300 Basically this means that the the cars computer has detected that not all of the engines cylinders are firing properly. A p0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code for example

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Interpreting OBD2 data

Hi Im hoping someone will be able to give me a rough idea of what the problem may be with my wifes 2007 Grande punto (1.2). The orange engine light has come on and subsequently gone out a few times in the past few weeks so I got a Bluetooth OBD2 device and pulled the codes on the iPad (I cant post links to please replace hxxp with http) hxxpwww.imagebam.comimage6c1c54267861338 After a bit of reading

some of the other info presented in the app Should I be concerned that the Timing is sat on such a low value Im sure that the timing belt was replaced on the last service. Also the Intake Temp seems rather high. Do either of these things in combination with the p0300P0302 codes suggest anything more ominous than dodgy spark plugs Any and all advice greatly appreciated was the cambelt done by a fiat

FIAT PUNTO Catalyser

for a punto 03 plate 1.2 8v. best to stay with a fiat original or are there other brands which are ok to use cheers in advance.

Dont assume its the cat though a recent major head gasket failure or rich running for a long time can take them out. Talk to the tuning bloke puntos are nothing special but see if hes anti fiat . Some still live in the 1970s. Consistent missfires on the same cylinders point to the ECU coil driver fault (repairable). Rough running and poor fuel consumption when hot point to Lambda . Poor tickover -

FIAT PUNTO GRANDE PUNTO Flashing Engine Management Light - No Issue

Hi people Sorry for the first post being a question but I figured after looking around on the forum Il have better luck here compared to my local garages Here goes I currently have a fiat Grande punto (2007) 1.2 8v which has been owned from new. Never had any issues until approx 4 months ago where the engine management light intermittently flashes on. Heres the symptoms...... Only ever happens at

I bought a 2004 Panda 1.2 8v Dynamique a few months ago that has a full main dealer service history. When test driving it I thought I detected a vague misfire but could not be sure. I also noticed that my fuel consumption

FIAT PUNTO Cambelt & Engine light

Hi Ok had the cambelt changed recently and I had the flashing engine light (EODB) so I did the phonic calibration fix and seemed problem solved. But now the lights solid. I have had a clutch replaced as well. Could either of these trigger the engine light It didnt trigger once before the cambelt fix.

erf at wits end. I had the codes re-set but they keep coming back. Same p0300 and P0420 the car doesnt feel as if it mis-fires. could this be a simple timing issue as I just had the belt done or a ignition issue I am worried that the ECU may be in question but I have no other fault codes bar that U1601 thats never come back and I have not had any ECU issues.
