FIAT MULTIPLA DPF and engine control light.

Hi I bought a 06 multijet from a volkswagon dealer last november. The oil light flashes for a minute when I start it and has done since I got it. Dosent bother me as the car was serviced and I know only a main dealer can turn this off. However the engine control light came on recently and car went to limp mode. Local garage told me it was the diesal particulate filter and I should drive it hard to

Hi there. The flashing oil light is a warning to tell you that the that your oil degradation index needs resetting but yes it should be reset at services basically. I was told by fiat that if I left it the car would eventually go in to limp mode. I ran mine for about three months once without it causing any problems then had it reset for free at the Ugly Bug Ball this year using the available fiat

Thanks pandabloke I saw on another post that the dpf wont regenerate if the service light is not reset. Mines been flashing since november Its due a service soon so I might switch to the fiat garage for next service. Fingers crossed. By the way fiat forum is super. Another reason to be happy with our multipla.

hi see me post........you got the same httpwww.fiatforum.commultipla236264-oil-light.html service did not cure mine............do these lights need resetting manualy this was not a fiat dealer but a nation co doing service plans when car bought. tried to go to eper section to check for sensor but.......... I use firefox because we use linux os and it says need i internet explorer............is this totaly specific then regards don

Go here. httpwww.fiatforum.commultipla18...-flashing.html This link provides an explanation to what you have how to fix it and what a bloody fiddle it is Basically it can be reset without an oil change provided you are not due for one. It is an assumed index created in the ECU . Youre not turning out the light youre resetting the index. While theyre there they can reset your service indicator and your

FIAT MULTIPLA Oil Light Flashing

Hi all. I own a 56 plate diesel and have just had a new EGR Valve fitted after poor running of the car. The car is running fine now but as i pulled away from the dealers after they had the car for a week to find the fault the oil light started flashing. I went back to the service manager and he told me it was because the car had not been running which i found unusual to say the least. I drove away

I had the dpf assembly and injector changed under warranty less than 5000 mls ago ( car has done 26000 ) after engine control light had come on no fewer than 8 times so im inclined to think it could be just a case of resetting the oil light. Surely though a proper service and the service indicator resetting should be enough Why would there be a separate reset of the oil light.

degraded and needs changing....... Reset the service counter manually by the approved method but that didnt turn out the light. Ok. Right. Ive got a mate in the AA and he connected up Vixen their generic portable diagnostic computer and surprise surprise it couldnt find the light as a fault code. Onwards and upwards. Rang my Main Dealer and the essence of the conversation with them was that only fiat

I had this problem when I had the oil changed on the second service but the oil light didnt come on until two months later. fiat turned the light off but warned the oil will now be 2000 miles over due at the next change because that was the distance covered between having the service and the light coming on

FIAT MULTIPLA Where are the courtesy light door switches

Hello. Just convinced my wife a multipla was the way forward and got one 2 weeks ago. Id been after one for a while but she needed convincing due to the individual styling. But shes chuffed to bits with it and so am I. Its a well looked after FFSH 1 owner low mileage car and after giving it a good service of all the basics Im in the process of starting to fix a couple of niggling bitty faults. I fixed

fix a couple of niggling bitty faults. I fixed the front interior light pod last weekend (usual sticking of switches dodgy connections etc) but I still cant get the interior lights to switch on when I open the nearside rear door. It also doesnt indicate on the dash as a door open so I presume the door switch isnt working. Problem is I cant see an obvious switch in the door post etc as on older fiats

FIAT MULTIPLA High temperature light on coolant gone

Can anyone advise me before I get ripped off by garage. My multipla (3 & 12yrs old only done 18000 miles) Had service & mot end November running fine before service. Came back saying needed coolant top up otherwise passed Mot no big bill. Within a week light came on to say temperature high engine cool. Immediately got coolant & topped up with coolant & water mixture as per instructions. Seemed ok for

Was the coolant renewed as part of the service Itll more than likely just be the drain plug on the radiator. Try the below procedure with the engine running If the coolant expansion tank is full try squeezing the radiator intake hose (should be fairly large and be located on the upper left or right of the radiator). When squeezing the hose check to see bubbles in the expansion tank. Keep following

FIAT MULTIPLA Clutch jamming and EM light problems

We have a 2000 JTD multipla - great car carries all six of us in comfort had it about 18 months went to Monaco via Switzerland Sept last year - great car for family touring but two problems cropped up then which have just cropped up again. Lengthy description coming up... anyone any thoughts In the alps doing a downhill on a very hot day we had the engine warning ligth come on and the engine refused

FIAT MULTIPLA Engine Oil Light flashing

Started my jtd up this morning but after travelling a few hundred yards the oil light started to flash. The car is a 56 plate and has 15000 on the clock. Checked the level and thats fine. What could this be. Is it a pressure prob or some sort of a reset only. Car is under warranty but still waiing for the dealer to get back regarding pick up of the car. As usual they dont rush at fiat . Can anyone help

Problem sorted. When i had my 12000 mls service at a non dealer garage using genuine parts the service counter was reset on the dash but apparently the ECU has to be reset after service otherwise brain is telling the car oil and filter havent been changed. Dealer saying i need the ECU reset to clear flashing oil light and any other niggles in the system. Is that right

FIAT MULTIPLA Engine Management Light

Just arrived home with the red light on for the last 15 miles or so. Averages 45mpg with no knocks or smoke. Ticks over fine. Could this be the air mas sensor Can the light be reset without fiat being involved. Im open to all suggestions. Recent full service so filters etc are ok.

FIAT MULTIPLA Air bag indicator light

Hi the red light for the passenger air bag stays on with either the air bag switched on or off with the key under the glove box. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they fix it please.

fiats dealership service is renouned for being crap and im sick of throwing good money after bad with no result so im just going to run the car as is.

Originally Posted by gazzauk fiats dealership service is renouned for being crap Bit unfair to say that. Why not express your concerns to the service manager then ito fiat customer care if need be who will open up a case on your behalf after all it seems silly to risk injury to yourself & passengers when it can be easily repaired.

gazza I can understand what you are saying & one of fiats main objectives for next year and beyond is to raise the level of techscustomer caresatisfaction and to take a big leap up that JD power survey ladder. Mind you why would a good tech work with fiat The product is getting so much better which is great but that back up from fiat often lets the side down and with all due respect to yourself &

FIAT MULTIPLA oil light.

hi guys had a oil light on while driving so put 1 ltr in dipped 12 hour after stopping and level apered ok. on starting now I get a flashing oil light [red] for 12 min only then nothing else until start again. just had service and they reported the same fault to me as happening after they serviced it. only 47k on the clock 19 jtd 06 reg ideas please......faulty sensor...where is it regards don bristol

hi the light was flashing for 12 min at start up then goes out. this was happening before the service and is still doing it now wondered where the sensor was.........cant get into the eper section ...seems to be down..... to find where it is...............was going to change the sensor to see if this was the prob. service done according to man specs according to the service agent. regards don

P.S I should also add that the oil light flashes for approximately 1 minute around 30 seconds after starting. The car has been serviced recently so I am not worried about this but I thought you might need to know in case it is related in some way. If the system is not told that an oil change has taken place the DPF will not regenerate as the sytem thinks its old oil still in the sump . It will start

FIAT MULTIPLA Dash Lights

The right hand side of my heating and ventilation controls (ie the temperature selector dial) no longer illuminates so I suspect I have a dead lamp under the panel. Is this something I can replace myself and if so where is the access

Well I have to take it on for a mini-warranty service sometime in the next month so I might just get them to do it while it is in. I did have a look at the fascia though and it would worry me if I broke any of the clips. Looking at the tech faq at httpwww.multiplaowners.co.uk they have this picture

FIAT MULTIPLA Glow plug light question

Im asking on behalf of a friend who has a multipla he waits for the glow plug light to go out starts the car and then the glow plug light comes back on for about 20 seconds. My first though is glow plug needs replacing (but not sure until a diagnostic is done) anybody got any other ideas Also I have a OBD2 code reader will this work on the multipla I think its an R reg. Dan

We had the flashing glow-plug warning light on our Multi but it would start from cold ok even before the light went out (other car is a petrol - old habits die hard). We had the glowplugs checked out at its last service and only two of the four were working so presumably theyre only needed for cold weather (another thread refers). We had ours replaced anyway just to stop the annoying warning light.

FIAT MULTIPLA EGR and engine management light

Hi all multipla 120 eleganza with 45 k miles. Driving perfectly but engine management light appeared over Christmas. Today my local fiat Dealer told me that diagnostics indicated EGR faulty. They cancelled fault but it appeared again following a single trip. They want to replace it. I wonder how acurate their diagnosis is. From what I read EGRs usually stick open. Mine is either closed or the fault

Yep Warning light and no performance issues does mean stuck shut. Stuck open is much worse - resulting in abyssmal performance. Mine is sticking shut intermittently (tends to happen when I hoof it down the motorway at 70 plus) but it usually unsticks after a while. Ive cleaned my EGR out once and got in instant improvement but will probably need to replace or clean it again soon - apparently theyre regarded almost as a consumable service item

FIAT MULTIPLA Engine warning light and limp mode

Hi all I am rather new at this so please bear with me. 2 months ago I purchased a 2008 fiat multipla lovely car one of the best cars I have ever had. the only problem i have is the warning light comes on saying engine ctrl faulty. I took it back to the dealer who said that it was an unspecified fault they reset it and said if it happens again it will have to go to a fiat dealer. It happened i took

These are all good suggestions. Dont be put off the Multi because of this. This stuff can happen to any diesel car. In reality these are simple faults. The main problem here is your treatment from the dealer. I bought two new fiats from my local dealer (one is my Multi). Their after-sales service was diabolical. Find yourself a local non-franchised garage that is recommended to you by your chums. I repeat that these are simple faults. Dont be deterred...

Is it the service notification light that youre talking about If so you can reset that yourself.

FIAT MULTIPLA Engine management light on

While driving up the M5 today the engine management light came on so i continued along motorway until next services and pulled over turned engine off went for a coffee and went back to car half hour later and car would not start properly it would start but immediately cut out. I had to call out the AA who connected his diagnostics test but it wouldnt recognise car even though after he plugged it into

Thanks Greaser does sound like its the master cylinder. They didnt do anything at the garage apart from look at it and plug in the computer oh and tell me i was imagining things . All fluid levels etc are A ok (im paranoid about levels so always check lol) and there was no funny smells (well none that werent coming from the dogs anyway) . Best go find some prices out for my master cylinder then this

FIAT MULTIPLA Glow plug warning light

I get a control fault if we rush the startup if you click the key till the dash lights come on wait for the glow-plug light to go out and wait for the OK light to be displayed before starting the engine and moving all seems ok. Hi. The above is a quote from a post from PJM on a different thread but it highlights something thats puzzled me with my multipla since I bought it last week. When the ignition

Ive just replaced 2 on mine as both were dead giving the flashing sighn on the dash. They are a right pain to get at and it looks like mine had never been done before as they are not a service item like a spark plug on a petrol car. You can use a meter on loop setting to see which ones are dead while they are in the car you need to put one wire to the engine and one to the tip of the plug.

FIAT MULTIPLA Airbag warning Light

I appreciate this is probably not the way to do it but I was trying to get as much a cross section of opinion as possible so Ive posted this in the multipla Section as well- Hi All Ive read most of the posts I can find about Airbag lights and none of these help. I previously had a Citroen Xantia which had the air bag light issue which was resolved by waggling the underseat connectors and I note this

So just an update on the Airbag issue- I went to my localish dealer yesterday who by the way are very good. They spent about an hour with the Multi hooked up to their dealer laptop which eventually spat out the following codes- Passenger side airbag squib - O.C. Driver front side impact sensor 1 - S.C. to Ground Driver front side impact sensor 1 not feasible Now I thought Id checked the under seat

FIAT MULTIPLA I 186 fiat multipla-1 year on....

Hi all owned my 04 multipla 1.9 jtd elx 115bhp for just over a year now & thought i would give my experiance so far. i love the look & practicality of the car i would say these cars are fairly unreliable & that fiat parts are expensive. a big point is this fiat cars (certainly the multipla anyway) are poorly constructed all metal parts rust far too easily seriously look in the engine area & rust levels

FIAT MULTIPLA diesel particulate filters

Can anyone advise me if the filter on an 06 model is supposed to be self cleaning or is it a service replacement item. My sister in law had her car serviced at Arnold Clark the car came back with a warning light for filter clogged. They claimed to have chnaged the filter and so had no idea why the light should be on. They then said that they would clean it - the light came on again the following day.

They claimed to have chnaged the filter and so had no idea why the light should be on. They then said that they would clean it - the light came on again the following day. It sounds to me that she is being spun a yarn - wait till they meet her husband hes bigger than me hopefully armed with your expert knowledge Thanks We had the same problem with our 06 multipla and it was covered under the fiat

FIAT MULTIPLA Programming New Remote Keys into the Remote Receiver

Im not sure if anyone can shed any light but Im currently trying to understand the procedure carried out by fiat when new remote keys are programmed into the remote receiver for the lockingalarm using the fiat Examiner diagnostic machine. The workshop manual (eLearn) states that a PASSWORD for the remote receiver first needs to be entered into Examiner before any new remote keys can be programmed to

FIAT MULTIPLA Buying a used multiplas - what to look out for

I am considering buying a used early type diesel multipla in the next few days. Could you please suggest things that I should look out for - common faults etc. Also how easy is the multipla to work on for a fairly competent home mechanic Do any jobs require expensive special tools etc. What are parts prices like Any suggestions would be most welcome or if this has been covered in previous threads a link would be really helpful Thanks A prospective fiat owner. FIAT MULTIPLA Injection System Failure

Hi my injection system failure light has just come on and wont go out (the red one that looks like an engine). Does anyone know what this is likely to be and if I should expect a large bill Presumably this is a job for fiat I have been a little unimpressed with my local dealer so would like to avoid them if possible. Is it still ok to drive the car It seems to be driving fine. Any pointers would be very much appreciated thanks.

service (cambelt). 3rd time (about 1 month ago). It fixed itself. There are details of which connector under (passenger side) of dashboard to wiggle on the owners club website I believe. Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells. Anytime the light comes on it can mean anything. The only way to check and that is not conclusive is to visit someone with THE SAME and this is important diagnostic equipment as fiat

FIAT MULTIPLA Turbo and Gears

FIAT MULTIPLA Problems with my Multipla

HI I have just had my wifes 4 year old multipla JTD fail its MOT. The front windscreen washer has stopeed working (it was working the last time I drove the car) the fuse is OK but I cannot hear any sign of the motor turning. Is this a known problem Secondly it failed for the emissions (although it was srviced by fiat 3 months ago) I have added some REDex for diesel and hope that flushes out. Also

Hello I have problem with CNG system in my multipla Bipower car. It is the car from 2001 and I did already close to 200.000km with it. The car operates well when driving out of towns but when I need to stop more often (traffic lights or similar) engine does not work quietly smoothly and occasionally even turns off.
