FIAT DUCATO III 250 2010 Ducato 3 Litre Engine Larger Fuel Tank Upgrade

I have just had my standard 85 litre ducato fuel tank replaced with the larger 125 litre optional tank. Replacement went well at the dealers but I have noticed that the trip meter and fuel gauge bahave as if it still has the 85 litre tank. Discussed it with the machanics involved and they say that the sending unit on the tank and the intrument cluster are the same part number for both tanks and this

It doesnt make any sense the sender is just a potentiometer. The floats are some kind of foam they have been know to lose buoyancy. Id check the float for damage it really awkward to get it in and out of the tank it could be damaged or the hanger may be bent. Barryp45 thanked for this post

Hi Rayc My guess is that if the tank is replaced then the body computer should therefor be replaced as well with one with the proper software if it is hard coded. Anyway in my case I took it back to the main maintenance base for fiat commercial in Sydney and they took out the pump and float assembly. A dipstick showed that there was an 8cm depth of fuel (about 30 litres) in the tank but the fuel gauge

FIAT DUCATO Fuel Gauge Sender Access

Is there an access plate in the cab to get to the tank sender and if so where is it I have looked underneath and cant see anything obvious. My cab is motorhome and all carpeted etc. in thick luxury so a good starting point to look would be good. Oh its a 2006 2.8 and actually a Peugeot Boxer but ..........hey Thanks in advance. Harvey

Thanks Peter I had a look at your website too very interesting. Going a bit off the original topic now

My fiat ducato started running on after killing the ignition a few days ago and today will not start thinking that the problem was linked I started digging I found out that fuel pump or fuel pump relay problems are common on the ducato - I took the air filter pipe off and sprayed ez start straight into the inlet - she started to turn over

FIAT DUCATO II 2003 2.8JTD Cuts Out When Tank is 12 Full

Hello all Been hovering around the forum for a little while but thought it was time to join as it is a mine of knowledge I was hoping someone will be able to help me with this problem... My 2003 ducato 2.8JTD Rohill Minibus was intermittently cutting out with the red injector light coming on. When the AA chap came out he read a fault code of P0191 (Low Pressure in the Common Rail). I wired an LED to

Im not familiar with the set-up so forgive me for taking a stab at it (and if youve already thought of this) Is it a submersible pump hanging on the cable and delivery tube If so is it actually in the bottom of the tank Or is the pump part of the fuel level sender assembly and the suction pipe hangs down into the bottom of the tank If so I would expect there to be a weight of some sort on the end of the suction tube to keep it down maybe a coarse filter has this come off

Is this the little off white unit by the dash fusebox with 5 wires. Ive repaired a couple of them with bad solder joints and had some with fluid damage as the cup holders in the glove box lid are above this location but more often than not the fault is in the sender unit. I usually remove the tank unit reconnect plug and operate the float arm through full travel very slowly. Often the winding has a

hi yes it has 5 wires on it but mine is black with a white plug ive had the sender unit out of the tank makes no difference to the gauge even with it unplugged it still reads the same only time it moves is either unplug it from the black box or the clocks

Hi Ive only just registered to this forumbecause Ive gothad the same problem sometime the fuel gauge works ok next thing its all over the place Ive put-up with this for the last 4 years and have intended every year to do something about it (take out the sender etc) but after reading about this box under the fuses I thought Id have a look I couldnt find the particular box being about 6 boxes there and hard to get at so I lifted the fuse section up to see if I could access it from there no but during the process of moving the fuse container about the gauge that has been reading 34 full for months suddenly went to full as it should (Ive just filled the tank to the top) so until I run the fuel down I hope that by wriggling the wires about has cured the problem fingers crossed. for the last 4 years Ive ignored the gauge and gone by the mileage Ive never been far wrong. fiat forum thank you very much

Turns out my issue is the fuel sender unit within the tank having changed out the voltage regulator it didnt change the fuel gauge. Ive picked up a replacement from a brakers yard and Ill report back.

FIAT DUCATO fuel gauge problem

Hi I am new to the forum I have a 2000 jtd 2.8 motorhome and the fuel gauge reads full and the low level light is on. I have tried various things as follows disconnectreconnect batt. I was told to disconnect sender unit for 15 min with ing. on done that. had clocks out and messed with wiring but to no avail. I suspect sender unit needs replacing but before I do so I thought someone out there might have some ideas. Thanks abafab johnbray46hotmail.com thanked for this post

Yep Im the same. Seems there are more questions than answers to this common problem. My 2000 Hobby 2.8i.jtd fuel gauge is now erratic. I have groped and rummaged about on top of the tank but cant quite reach the sender connections. But in doing this the gauge stays accurate for a while. So guess this is where the problem lies. Next step is to gain access to the sender connections. Ray.

and could be fatal. Diesel fuel is also very poisonous and given the astronomically high pressure used in common rail diesel systems accidental ingestion or injection of fuel into the human body can cause death. if in any doubt please refer your vehicle to a specialist. Please chock and make sure the vehicle is in gear with the handbrake full on before venturing underneath remembering that a fiat

Thanks for that diagram.. which explains what a sender device is this phrase was causing some confusion to me. Im inclined to think this problem may be dampwater ingress related as my inaugeral post was a problem with my speedo and engine light.. which was investigated and turned out to be water corrosion on connections. Im thinking my camper may be prown to this problem and the fuel gage is yet another

Back home after great weekend in west. Removed the initial covers to the tank proper wit a large number of small bolts clamping down a flange with fuel lines and an electrical plug. can the sender be accessed and viewed from her and if necessary replaced. You mention dropping the tank.. will that be necessary

FIAT DUCATO Ducato motorhome problems

Hello Just purchased a 1985 petrol ducato motorhome but it has come with a number of problems The speedo does onot work the petrol gauge is stuck on 34 and I think there is a petrol leak somewhere due to the smell of petrol particularly after I put some in. I have looked underneath and the fuel tank looks brand new but has a smearing of petrol on it and there seems to be a small drip in one corner
