Hi Ken Welcome to the FF. If the battery starter motor and wiring are all OK and the starter motor still just clicks only thing left is seized engine. Possibly cam belt gone causing it as the car cut out on you.
Thanks for reply I only got cam belt done about 1000 miles ago so its not that. And the engine hasnt seized I put a clutch in about 6 months ago and same thing happened it cut out and wouldnt start it was clicking the same way . Then is just started one day its gone the same again but just wont turn over this time

It could be a problem with the insulation in the windings of the SM breaking down when hotwarm. I had the same fault a few years ago car started fine when cold but after a run it was as if the battery was on its way out. but everything checked out OK. Of course it was difficult to remove the SM when it was hot so it was always tested cold. It was only when the insulation finally went that the problem
occasionally my immobiliser doesnt recognise the key. The padlock symbol stays on. But it will always start if I turn the ignition off then on again.

What engine 1.9 jtd doblo cargo 2002 Did you disconnect the battery when you worked on the car no i didnt When you put it all back together maybe you missed an earth wire Didnt see any Any warning lights do you hear the fuel pump primingi hear clicking but only when i turn ignition off. Battery light did flash but turns over fine Did remove bottom panel that covers beneath the engine Thanks for replying
I went to garage they gave me all this bull about fuel pumpso I mentioned fuel cutoff switch and low and behold they didnt even look and they even new where it was wont be using that garage again Thanks for everything heres an imaginary pint The noisey engine will have to wait until I find another garage
Well I dont know if the cut off switch is in all new cars All fiat cars have them and they are a really good idea. Anyway you can sill check the fuse and use a different relay to try to start the car if the fuse is fine then take T2(High beams) and put it in place of T10. I remember reading this about how to reset the inertia switch on a 2012 punto dont know if thats needed on all fiat cars or nor
could it be start relay
Maybe it is the relay. Tried getting a mobile elctrician to sort it today but most have been either finished for xmas or very busy. Will have to sit over Jan untouched till I can get someone on it. Keep suggestions coming though. I can only really think it could be a handful of things A relay Immobiliser issue starter motor or ignition switch. but then the ignition is doing as it should so probably
Stating the obvious here give the battery a full charge. ie after the glow plugs have sapped power theres not enough left to crank the motor. Possibly solenoid clicking to engage pinion in flywheel but not switching on the starter motor.
Turns out it was a sticking starter motor. Had a good look on Boxing day and if you hit starter motor with a hammer handle and someone turns ignition key started straight away. Got another starter motor on the way from Ebay so hopefully with all the servicing work ive done ill now have a trouble free doblo.

For a fiat P0191 Generic - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circit Range Performance P0191 Generic - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circit Range Performance With your had a new high press pump fitted as this was leaking there would appear to be a correlation. Did whoever relaced the pump reset any existing fault codes grass man thanked for this post
hi yes it was re set but still wont start .can it be the fuel rail press sensor .thanks
Absolutely same symptoms on my 2002 1.9JTD day before Christmas.New starter motor and away we went.

It is so frustrating when thay happens on any car. I didnt realise that fiat fitted them on Diesels with a mechanical pump.
I got the heads up from a mate that runs his family owned independent garage that had a contract for the local Royal Mail fleet maintenance. He said he lost count of the times the 1.3 Multijet vans that got recovered in due to the Pats bumping them up kerbs and couldnt get them to re-start. Easy fix by just pushing the fuel cut off switch.
Just had a titter to myself singing the new version of the Postman Pat song.. Postman Pat Postman Pat Postman Pat and his black and white DPF early in the morning youll hear Pat cursing the fing doblos being towed again. All around the town in his little dead van towed behind the lovely AA man..... Feel free to add verses & choruses
