well i went to halfords and i sourced all the correct Thule bars and fittings as per Obadiahs post but surprise surprise they didnt have the 3021 kit to fix to the doblos fixed mounts in stock.. looks like i will be taking the van into fiat on Monday to get the fiat supplied 3-bar roof system. Just wish fiat supplied the longtitudional bars as standard then getting a roofrack would be much cheaper and as dobbie pointed out easy to transfer to a new vehicle... not that i would ever change
Hi Ive got the doblo family too. If you want the longitudinal roof bars you have to buy a doblo with the bars already fitted as this is an optional extra fitted at the factory only. As your car has no roof rails you will need either the 3 bars from fiat or some from Halfords or Thule or whatever. I bought the fiat ones. These come in 2 types standard or Topline. I went for the cheaper standard ones.
Thanks Ozzie the roofbox I bought was a real cheapie from ebay. It had fixed mounting points for the U bolts. This is my first roofbox and I presumed that all boxes were like this and you were supposed to slide your bars along the rails to suit your particular box if you see what I mean. Of course you cant do this with the fixed fiat bars so I had to drill new holes in the box. My box isnt really big

Thule (finally) do a doblo kit for cars without roof bars Im going for that as you can reuse the bars for other vehicles with a change of foot pack.
I cant understand why they dont come up with a set of rails that can be turned through 90 deg to form a pair of bars. Surely its not impossible to have 4 feet bolted to the roof with a pair of rails going front to back & you simply perhaps unlock a couple of clips & turn the rails to meet a footplate on the opposite side & lock it into place. I like my rails but sometimes its a PITA to carry the cross bars around all the time so I have to remember to pack them when I thnk Im going to need them. Mind you its also about time fiat offered some overhead storage options for that vaulted roof.
If I can resurrect this thread Ive got a similar question. Just got a 201011 doblo with roof rails already fitted - pretty sure as standard - they are quite chunky looking. Never had roof rails before - been looking at the Thule site but not totally sure what I need. Am I right in thinking that as I have the rails already on the car that roof bars are more or less universal fit - or do I need a bar that is specific to the fiat roof rails Thanks
Ive just had fiat roof bars fitted to my doblo. Because the doblo is a van not a car the bars are technically van roof bars. The consequence is that at 36mm square it is very difficult finding accessories that fit them. For cycle carriers Fapa make a good carrier that fits but I think most Thule accessories will only fit 22mm car roof bars or possibly aero-bars. With a doblo you can fit Thule roof
Hi I purchased my original bars from car-roofracks for my Punto. As you mentioned if you want to go with commercial or fiat bars you can be stuck with accesories that dont fit - as I would be. I think I managed to track down the unique fit part of the THULE system at httpwww.autow.co.uk This still allows me to use my existing 750 foot pack & I can use standard 762 bars that my accesories will fit. When I get my doblo home on Wednesday guess the first thing Ill be checking...
Do a search for roof rails at the top of this section my thoughts are included in amongst the threads - my rails are now a few years old it is possible that there are newer better versions on the market (made specifically for the doblo rather than generic).
ebay usually some about or httpwww.direct4x4.co.ukp-140-fia...oof-rails.aspx httpcgi.ebay.co.ukfiat-doblo-ALU...item3ca1338525 httpwww.uk-tuning.comacatalogroof_Rails.html

Hi and welcome I thought the high roof was a fiat option as was listed in the brochure when I bought mine maybe yours was converted after it was bought like the dealer said. Cant Autoglass or someone like that get a piece made to fit

Yep same as the ones I have - but a different seller. httpwww.fiatforum.comdoblo11117...ailable-2.html Mine were from ebay seller who also comments on that thread & cost about &16390 all told so those in the OP are a bargain. Have to say that although they arent a perfect fit (the footprint doesnt fit the recesses in the roof) they complete the look far better than the cheapo plastic screws fiat leave behind . And they have served their purpose many times over.
You can order roof rails if you buy new so there must be a few doblos out there with genuine fiat roof rails. Sludgeguts has the after market roof rails too although IIRC they werent a perfect fit...they look the dogs doo dahs though

The quest still continues........... This photo is (I think) from a motorshow in Turkey (where Dobs are made ) and look at the great roof rails. (Probably need to click photo to get bigger size). Anyone got any mates in Turkey Ive tried translating roof rack into Turkish and using Google but no success. Attached Thumbnails   __________________ Peter Hayes doblo 1.9 (120) Dynamic 2007   Quote
The rails are really useful Ive had mine for about a year. (original thread... httpwww.fiatforum.comdoblo11117...ailable-2.html ) Have to say that the chrome rails is now a bit tarnished but they have served their purpose. Still looking for cheap & stowable crossbars. If I can get the right things Im thnking about mounting a tube inside the roof to slide the rails into. there is loads of storage potential on the underside of the roof.
I would be very interested to know what you think of the roof rails as I have looked at those as well. For info I bought the sun shades for my 08 doblo and they have been great although have been unable to fit the shades to the rear sliding windows as the new type doblo has some padded trim on the door which the shade does not fit around.

I saw these on eBay. These would allow me to use my existing roof bars and roof box which I purchased for my previous car... Or this option. For this option I would have to ditch my existing roof bars & put the roof box on these... Id rather go for the first option but I dont know what the fit is like - Does anyone have the eBay roof bars that can comment on them I have the second option the fiat
doblo high roofs are a factory option I doubt theres a retro fit available if there was it would probably cost more than the car was worth. However there are plenty available most are ex mobility wheelchair conversions possibly cheaper and with lower miles than a conventional doblo. httpwww.motorspeedportsmouth.co.u...ateststock.htm

Ooh I want them. Might have to have a bid on those. Ive only got the crappy square bars theyre ok as they are proper fiat ones but they look really cheap and nasty and they have absolutely no aerodynamic qualities what so ever. Looks like a couple of bits of angle iron on the roof . edit Just realised theyre yours Ashy I didnt look at the seller name first time. Im deffo having a bid then.
Thers been much discussion about rails. Heres my take httpwww.fiatforum.comdoblo13355...ails-ebay.html Which also includes links to my original pics. Ebay rails not the best fit. IMO they improve the look - this motor should come with rails. But cheap to buy & easy to fit also been used many many times to carry everything from ladders to sheets of wood fence panels etc. derbydoblo thanked for this post
You can buy a roof rail kit from fiat to fit yourself same as rails ordered as an option. Part number 98812852 however cost is 312 quid incl vat.
wow the clock one has me there as for the roof bars i brought mine for my 05 doblo mpv off ebay listed for the doblo i believe they are the same fitment for both as the identical bodyshell hope that is some help P franchispas thanked for this post
Just in case anyone was following this I fitted a Flettner 2000 rotating roof vent to my 1.3 doblo Cargo yesterday ( www.flettner.co.uk ) Fitting required a 95mm. hole to be cut in the roof - a steady hand and an even steadier nerve was the order of the day. Still the vent does its job and the van interior no longer smells quite so stale - I have three working dogs who very often end up wet so this mod was a very definite neccesity.
