FIAT BRAVO Bravo Check Control System

In my efforts to better understand how things work by playing around with them Ive theorised that the new bravos check control system has a much better method of fault diagnosis than its predecessor at least for simple non-critical faults so I thought Id share the comparisons if anyones interested Stilo The way the Stilo managed its fault diagnostics was and still is very advanced but also prone to

FIAT BRAVA 182 ignition system troubles

Ive just bought a 2001 fiat bravo 1.2L and it ran well for about 20 miles. I then got a engine system failure warning light and the car became very juddery and eventually wouldnt start without stalling. A recovery man was sure it just needed a new coil pack. So i replaced that....which didnt make any difference. I then replaced the spark plugs which seemed to sort the problem. However the warning light

If the plug change has sorted it there will still be unburnt fuel in the O2 sensors in the exhaust. This should burn off but if not most autosparks have examiner clones so will be able to check. Cheers SPD

Thanks Unfortunately the spark plugs seemed to sort it for a while but after driving for 5 minutes the warning light came back on and the car became almost undriveable after being towed home again the bloke reckons now its the head gasket gone. I dont see how this would cause the ignition system warning light to come on tho

I think in the handbook it calls it something like engine control system failure. But on the diagnostic machine it was showing faults P0300 P0302 and 303.

FIAT BRAVA 182 Understanding the Bravo 1.6 fan system

Ok So some of you might know that ive got a problem with the bravo that the radiator fan doesnt turn on when it gets hot. Now I have taken the rad fan and assembly out completly for a better look and to understand exactly how it works. First of all ou have the and - to the fan motor itself. this is split to work via a relay and what I can only assume is the speed controller. Its a bigish round resistory

your not saying what year your car is ok top right hand side of the fan housing (looking toward the windscreen) you will see a connector joint un plug this and bridge across turn ignition on fan should run when key is turned to ignition fan will stop when key is in off position. the fan switch is located bottom left of fan housing. Hi guys a few months ago I posted some news about my breakdown in Aberdeen. Today I am going to tell you the result of a major repair I carried out on the two relays and fuses in the black boxsplash guard that is bolted to the rear bulkhead of the engine bay. After my break last year I did a fairly temporary repair on the two relays by stripping the wires back to reasonably copper coloured wire and

FIAT BRAVO Radio staying on when car ignition switches off

Just wondered if anyone knew why my radio decides to stay on when the car is switched off. Is this meant to be the case and can i make it so it doesnt do this Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Originally Posted by ap07aaa Just wondered if anyone knew why my radio decides to stay on when the car is switched off. If not and its the original headunit then the function to have the headunit turn onoff with the car can be altered to suit via the cars menu system. Check the manual on how to do it if needed.

FIAT BRAVO Connect Navi update etc

Hi friends Been around in the forum and cannot seem to get an answer to my issue. Bought a Connect Navi from Italy and tryed to install it today all seem to go ok radio working CD working Mp3 working. My 2 issues are 1. I need to change language from Italian to English tryed to DL the Setup disc but nothing happens when I try to change the language it will just go back to Italian .... how can I fix

Step 1 of using the Setup disc to change the language is Switch the ignition on so it may need that extra power supply for the Setup disc to work. Where the ignition supply goes is mentioned in post 22 of this thread httpwww.fiatforum.combravo25354...mlpost2868342 The original Setup disc for G1 & G2 systems is fiat part number 51746395. FIAT BRAVO New Barrel and Locks

Hello there. Ive recently bough a fiat bravo X reg and Im really pleased with it however I want to replace the car door locks and the ignition barrel. I have one blue key for the car (I tried reading the guide about the keys and I think this is all I should have i.e. no red key). But the key is quite jerky to get into the locks and requires a few twists and turns to open the doors. My real problem

I closed the door and relocked the door with the key the alarm stopped itself after a few moments. Obviously i cant drive the car with the alarm

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo 1.2 16v (2000) shakes and stutters

Hi I have a problem with my fiat bravo 1.2 16v (2000 manufacturing year). First of all I had the car idling and heard small buff kind sound from the exhaust. Also rpms go up and down when idling. And also the sound from the

FIAT BRAVA 182 Help I have no Red Key for my Fiat bravo 1.4 98

As i went to start it up the next morning a yellow light showed up on the dash with a key and writing on it saying code. I have since found out that i need a red key to get it up and running again but i dont have one.............. Ive got a friend

mistakenly believe that the immob has a fault. if it still happens with the battery fully charged the problem is probably with the immob for example -faulty aerial on ignition switch -faulty code box -faulty ecu -wiring fault depending on what the fault is you may be in trouble. the red key is the only key that you can use to teach the code box blue key codes. the red key can not be replaced. a fiat

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo running too lean

Hi Because of some alternator problem of my car the battery was left disconnected for weeks. The alternator has been changed recently. After reconnecting the battery I noted - an unsteady idling (the revs drop until the motor almost extincts itself but then the ECU kicks in and makes the motor rev again only for it to slow down again shortly after...) - for some minutes during initial driving the motor

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo 1.6 1996 No Keys Hitachi ECU

I managed to get in it and I have located the components related to the code system (Aerial code box ECU ) but have not been able to start the car. FIAT BRAVA 182 cat back systems....

well.. to start of i have a 1.6 sx (p plate) and would like to add a system to it.. i have been browsing the various systems available and am wondering what peoples favorites are. and what they thought of them so if you have a cat back system backbox i would loke to hear where you got it and what you think about it so i dont go and buy a crap one. thankyou. Joe. (ps if anyone has one in the shed i may be interested in buying it )

on most cars a cat back system usually cant affect performance at all however the bravoa range seem to get some of the exhaust back pressure post cat (from the cat back part of exhaust). this means you can both increase and decrease the overall back pressure to a certain extent by fitting different cat back systems. adjusting the overall back pressure can have an effect on performance. how does back

FIAT BRAVO parrot mk3100 fitting

Hi after a bit of advicepics on how to get a switch live to fit a parrot mk3100 on my bravo 2008. I believe you take it from the cigarette lighter but am unsure what to do any advice would be great.

Parrot systems require a battery supply and an ignition supply. Often fiats dont have an ignition supply so you need to pick this up from somewhere lighter socket is fine but check first as I prefer ignition lives that stay live under crank.

FIAT BRAVA 182 Need New Fiat Bravo Key for V412LAE

Dear ALL I need a fiat bravo key for V412 LAE as I lost my ex-fiancees key . Can any of you help in this area . Do you know how I can obtain a key as cheaply and as quickly as possible . Thanks for your help Regards Barry Ojar

if you have the red key you can program any new key codes into the ecu . to do this you will need 2 blue (slave) keys with unique codes to each other and the red key. the easiest way to get a pair of unique blue keys would be to borrow the codes from any other fiat code system1 car (any fiat with a red key). take the blue keys from another fiat and the red key for your ex-fiancees car to a locksmith

FIAT BRAVO LED bulbs and bulb failure warnings...

Hey guys. I wanted to upgrade my front sidelights and my number plate light bulbs from the standard 5W 501 type wedge bulbs to LED replacements. I fitted them to the car turned on the ignition and sidelights and got a warning to check the numberplate

FIAT BRAVA 182 Bravo Power

Just wondering what the power output of a 1.6 16v sx engine was its from a 1999 T-reg one Cheers guys

the book figure is 103bhp but peak power figures mean very little. your particular example could have a peak of 80-100bhp. more importantly the 1.6 has 106lbft of torque which is good for a 1.6 and even more importantly the torque curve is fairly flat so you have plenty of usable torque across a good chunk of the rev range that is what gives the 1.6 its willingness from the fiat brochure The Torque

FIAT STILO Ignition failure

I took my Stilo in for its annual service today and trundled off in the courtesy car only to receive a call from the mechanic saying that he couldnt start the car and was there some sort of immobiliser. No ignition no

fob and the car programmed to accept it Remote clocking and engine immobiliser are entirely different and separate systems you see A lot depends whether the new fob is a remote button operated one or not So there are 3 security systems the blade- purely mechanical immobiliser chip - ecu allow engine start yesno remote clocking circuit board __________________ 02 Stilo 1.6 Dynamic 3 door 99 bravo

FIAT BRAVO multijet 120 1.9 starting problem

Ive had my bravo for 3 months now and just topped 2000 miles. Its my first diesel car. The last few days it has had an intermittent starting problem. Up till now Ive waited for the glow plug light to go out turned the key and its started within about 2 or 3 compressions. Now about half the COLD starts it turns over for for about 5 to 10 seconds before it fires up. It then runs perfectly. When it messes

Hi mate The cold start system does a self diagnosis and if it detects a fault then the glow plug light will flash for about 30 seconds after it goes out. fiat examiner can check its operation in more detail however. How long is the glow plug light staying on for before it goes out Secondly when you turn the ignition to MAR do you hear the fuel pump prime (whurring) Do you hear any gurgling at all Alan

FIAT BRAVO Petrol for 14

Hi folks I am curious to hear your comments about petrol for my bravo 14. User manual says the octan number 95 is minimum to be used. For my previous car (Suzuki Baleno) I oftenly refuelled the Shells V-Power or even V-Power Racing. I have been told in a fiat showroom to stick with 95 octans for a while to let the engine settle a little. Now I have 3.500 km mileage and I wonder about V-Power. What do you think and do you recommend that Many thanks for your posts. Regards pegas

The engine management system uses various sensors to tune the engine to run at its best in the conditions prevailing. Atmospheric pressure spark plug gap cylinder compression fuel quality engine temperature air temperature etc etc are all used to tune the engine. 95 RON is a measurement of the anti-knock quality of the fuel. Knock is the term used for what is commonly called pinking due to pre-ignition
